《For Life》12. Fun in the sun

I've been lying awake for hours in my bed with my phone googling Austin and every single link I click on makes me doubt my decision to not run away from him considering the amount of overwhelming evidence that says Austin Silver is dangerous.
He's not just any bad guy, he's the worst of them all.
Yet I can't wrap my head around the fact that as I read all these terrible claims about him, I can't see Austin ever doing any of these things that people accuse him of in the tabloids and news, all he's been to me and Max is a nice boss, even telling me that he liked me.
I have no idea how to approach him after basically googling his entire life, which is entirely public knowledge, apart from his personal life, nothing is said about how his father owned a garage or his life as a child, it's like a massive amount of time and years are erased from history and no matter how hard I looked, I couldn't find a single thing about Austin Silver until fifteen years ago, when he raised to power in the underground circuit and became 'boss'.
I haven't seen him since that awkward realization talk we had to 'get to know each other better', he said something came up and he had to leave and he would be back tomorrow, I haven't seen him since then and he hasn't come back.
I don't know if I should worry about him or not, I've never worried about anyone other than Max and myself, no one else mattered more.
Not to mention he is my boss, I don't want to be awkward around him because of what he does for work, it's really none of my business and I want to keep it that way, the less I know the safer I will feel with me and Max staying here and continuing working for him.
It's Saturday and no school so I promised Max he could play in the pool again, I even bought him some floats so he could go in the deep end, and with the weather being so nice, I'm going to surprise him by having a BBQ, something I've never done on an actual BBQ that wasn't self-made.
Getting up out of bed and heading to the bathroom in my room, I brush my teeth and wash my face and tie my hair up in a high ponytail. Deciding to go with something comfortable I grab my swimsuit and some shorts and put them on.
Leaving my room I head straight for Max's bedroom and just as I was about to open the door, I see the door open and Max standing there already dressed in shorts and he's looking up at me with a cheeky smile.
He looks like a completely different boy after he got his haircut yesterday, my little brother's floppy hair is all gone and he went for a style that is similar to Austins, it was what Max wanted so we got it cut like that.
"Rose! Can we swim now?" Max asks excitable.
I shake my head and hold onto his hand as I lead us down the hall and down the stairs, making my way with Max to the kitchen. "Eat first buddy then swim, okay?"
He groans out and crosses his arms over his chest and looks at me grumpily. "Fine." He mutters out.

"I have a surprise for you, but first you need to eat all of your breakfast okay?"
His eyes light up and then he nods his head grinning. "Ok!"
We both sit and eat our breakfast, we both have banana waffles with syrup and a glass of orange juice, which Max eats within record time, clearly only thinking about jumping into the pool once again and finding out his surprise.
"All done! Can we go now? Please, Rose, please?" Max jumps up and down on the spot, looking at me with big puppy eyes as his eyes dart between me and the door leading out into the garden with the pool.
I rinse the bowls and glasses and put them in the dish washer then I turn to the impatient boy who is looking at me with excitement bursting out of him as I smile and nod my head.
"Okay, but no running!" I call out before he gasps and heads to the backyard, beginning to run.
He grunts and slows down and walks at a fast pace to the backyard, turning the handle to unlock the door, and then walks out into the backyard.
I grab the bags filled with pool floats and take them with me outside, I see Max kicking off his flip-flops near the pool with a smile so wide it consumes his entire face.
I take the floats out and begin to blow them up with the pump I bought. "Oh my god, Rose! Look it's a waffle!"
Max stares excited as the float I pump up is indeed a waffle, after I picked Max up from school yesterday, we went to the shop again and I saw it and immediately bought it when Max wasn't looking, as a surprise because I know how much he loves waffles.
"Do you like it buddy?" I say with a grin and he nods his head and grabs hold of it as he taps to the end of the pool and throws it in the best he can with his small hands.
I blow up the ball next while I keep my eyes focused on Max as he jumps into the pool and then grips onto the giant floating waffle, his face beaming and his giggles contagious.
I'm so glad I did this for him, I haven't seen him this happy since we got here.
I take off my shorts and head to the pool and sit on the edge, slowly lowering myself in the lukewarm water of the pool. I float and swim my way towards Max, he giggles and splashes me with water.
"Max!" I squeal out.
I play with him in the water for a good hour before I get tired from my lack of sleep last night, because of my obsession with finding out more about the mysterious Austin Silver.
I'm dripping cold but the air is anything but, it's way too warm so I call Max out to put sunscreen on him. As Max gets out of the pool I see a shadow in the corner of my eye so I turn my head to see who it is.
Austin steps out from the doorway, dressed in business pants and a baby blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up, he looks so unbelievably attractive it should be illegal. He is by far the most dangerously handsome man I've ever laid eyes upon, and I can vouch for the many admirers he has online too, even with being who he is, people still are very much attracted to Austin.

"This looks like fun, did you enjoy your swim?" Austin walks up to me and Max, shades covering his eyes but I can feel his gaze on me.
Max bobs his head as he sits in front of me while I open the bottle of sunscreen. "It's so awesome! Rose got me a giant waffle Awstin! Look look!" Max points to the pool and Austin moves his gaze from me to the big floating waffle then back to me, his lips twitch slightly, amused?
"I'm so jealous little man." Austin says as he sits on a chair near us, he removes his sunglasses and turns to me. "Rose certainty spoils you, now I want a big waffle." His gorgeous but fierce silver eyes focus on me, his gaze lowers and I feel self-conscious under his stare.
My heart rate speeds up and I tear my gaze from his and focus on Max's back as I rub the lotion on him. "Awstin you should play, we can share everything, can he Rose? Please!" Max turns and his giant puppy eyes beg me.
I look to Austin apologetically. "Uh, Austin is busy budd-"
"I'm actually very free if I'm not intruding of course."
Max cheers and then jumps off the chair and goes towards the blown-up beach ball. "Are you sure? He can be really pushy.. you don't have to he will understand if you cant."
Austin shakes his head and stands up. "Nah I want to, I'll go change real quick then maybe you can put some lotion on me." He says so casually I nodded my head before I understood what he actually said.
My eyes bulge out of my sockets and he laughs at me. "Back in sec." He says turning and disappearing through the door.
Jesus Christ so help me. I am totally speechless around him and now he is flirting with me, I mean... I think he is flirting with me? Or he just likes to tease people to make them feel uncomfortable, I noticed he does and says certain things around me just to watch my reaction, yesterday was obvious after he asked me if I had any other questions.
He was obviously so much more interested in my reaction, he clearly doesn't care about who he is or who knows about who he is, he just wanted to know what I thought about it, generally, he was just curious about what I thought about him.
I'm no idiot, I can see the way he looks at me, but he's... him, and I am just ME! Just boring old plain me, there's like no way I can be with Austin and not panic about his lifestyle and job, we are both from different worlds, completely different worlds.
He's incredibly rich and handsome with multiple offers from women who freely throw themselves at him, possibly on a daily basis, I mean who wouldn't? He's not just a criminal, he has many sides to him that draw you closer, like his personality..
"Ok so are we swimming or you oiling me up?"
I jump and turn to see Austin with a slight smirk, dressed in only black swim shorts that hang low on his hips, but that's not what I'm looking at, I feel my mouth go completely dry at how incredible his muscles are, there's not a single piece of fat of his body, it's all pure muscle, half of his torso and arms, neck and hands are covered in tattoos and I'm just staring at this point, gaping at how handsome and incredible he is from just standing there.
I nod my head and swallow the dry lump in my throat. "Y-Yeah."
Raising a brow he walks over to me, his lips in a thin line, he bends down and picks up the bottle of sunscreen and I can't help but admire the way his muscles flex when he bends, as he sits on the same sun lounger as me, I can feel his skin touch mine as his arm and leg touch mine.
He pops the bottle cap off then turns to me, his eyes almost look green and blue in the light and I can't help but think they look like the ocean, always changing colors do the mood of the weather that day, they're beautiful.
"Get my back for me?" Austin hands me the lotion and he turns, his broad back is now in front of me and I feel my hands begin to shake as I hold the bottle.
He seriously wants me to do this? Is he literally torturing me by doing this or does he actually need help? The size of this guy is insane, I could trace every single muscle in his back, but the tattoos, just wow.
I don't even know how to react to this, this is so beyond anything that I've ever experienced before and the only other guy I've ever been this close to is my brother, Max, who is happily swimming in the pool, focused completely on the ball.
I clear my throat and squirt some lotion onto my hands and too much comes out, I suck it up and take a deep breath then raise my hands then begin to rub the lotion onto his back.
His back is hard and warm, with each stroke of my hand on his back I feel every single muscle and scar, he hasn't moved an inch, even when the cold lotion touched his back he sat completely still and let me rub it on him.
I need a distraction, holy crap, clearing my throat I decided to speak and break the ice, the thick tension in the air between us is making me feel awkward and creepy. "S-So, how's work? I ask and the moment the words left my mouth I want to hit myself over the head.
Why the hell did I ask him that? I already agreed with myself I would stay out of his business!!
His back clenches as I hear him chuckle huskily, the sound sends flutters to my stomach. "Fucking awful, id much rather be here if I'm being honest."
I hum, my cheeks begin to feel warm from his commend so I decide to tap his back gently. "All done." hinting to his back,
He turns and grins handsomely at me as he takes the bottle from my hands, his fingers graze mine and it makes me feel lightheaded whenever he touches me. "Turn around." He instructs and I look at him confused.
"W-What, why?"
He just shrugs and squeezes some lotion onto his large manly palm.
"Because I'm doing you next, wouldn't want you to get burned, would we?"
