Today has been a wild rollercoaster of emotions, I feel sick and giddy all at once.

It all started after I had dropped Max off at school.

It was like any other day other than I had just lost my job this morning so I had time to take Max to school. Then my plan was to go straight home and look for a job, but I needed to buy another new skirt from the thrift store for possibly interviews, like the one I had, now has a big hole in from catching it on the end of a table whilst I was at work in the diner.

I needed to go to the bank and withdraw some money but the bank was closed.. so I had no choice but to use an ATM near the bank, but it charged me to use my card, which I really wanted to avoid, already being so low on cash, I needed to save every penny I had left.

I felt like I was having a stroke when I went to check my balance, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a large amount of money in my bank, I have never seen so much money in my life.

As I was staring at the large sum of money, exactly 50,000 thousand, I couldn't help but think of all the things I could do for Max with this money, especially since I noticed I didn't have a single dime left in my name.

This had to be a mistake though, it has to be, perhaps the bank put it in my account by accident?

I decided to wait until the bank opened in an hour, I strolled around and window gazed at all the nice clothes that were currently in fashion, thinking how lovely it would be to actually afford shoes that fit me properly and ones that weren't second hand.

Max could really use a haircut too.. I could finally afford it, maybe new shoes, tops, and trousers.. I can finally treat him to something he has always wanted to eat, his first takeaway, Sushi! I can do so much with this money, I just pray it wasn't a mistake, and somewhere, someone is watching over me.

The bank opens after a nice walk in the park and around town, something I haven't had the pleasure of doing since me and Max finally got a place within the city.

I was the first customer in the bank, I can tell my presence being here so early made a few people glance my way, but I had to find out and figure where the hell this money came from.

I walk up to the man behind the glass and he smiles warmly at me. "Good morning, how can I help you today?" He asks and I smile back.

"I seem to be having some issues with my account, uh, could you perhaps look into it?" I ask nervously as I hand my card through the glass.

He looks up at me and smiles politely as he takes my card. "Sure, what would you like to know?" He asks.

"I received a large sum of money last night and I was wondering if it's some mistake.. I just.. I'm confused about where it came from, I have never had this problem.. I don't know.. um, if you could tell me that would be awesome, thank you." I babble on and the man laughs and smiles up at me as he types on the PC.

"Well, it says here you got a 50 thousand check, it's not a mistake, would you like to see who it came from?" He asks and I nod shyly as I shift on my feet, nervously.

He hums then frowns. "Ah, I can't. You see, someone has given you this anonymously online, it's legal but also untrackable." He says, sliding my card back through the glass and I take it, putting it back into my purse.

I frown and bite my nail, looking at the man. "So it's mine?" I ask, clarifying.

The man laughs and nods his head. "Yes, 100% yours, whoever gave you this money is no doubt a very generous person."

"Is that all I can help you with today?" He asks and I shake my head, smiling back.

"Yes, thank you for your time and help." I say shifting away from the glass, I hear a 'goodbye' as I leave the bank, my heart beating a mile per minute at how insane this is, I literally can't believe this is happening.

OH my god, I actually have 50,000 thousand in my bank.

My phone buzzes and I can't help my hands from shaking as I see who text me, seeing that it's Austin, the guy who mixed up my number the other night.

u didn't reply back, ignoring me already?

I chuckle and reply back, my hands shaking as I sit on the bench opposite the bank and hit send.

Not on purpose, why are you still texting me? I also had a very strange day, I'm still in shock

He replies back almost instantly, causing me to laugh when I see what he wrote.

I want to be friends, ur amusing, tell me what happened

Should I tell him? He's a complete stranger.

You wouldn't believe me even if I told you...

His reply comes instant.

Oh god, he is definiently not going to believe me, oh hell with it, I have to tell someone other than Max, this is just too weird!

So.. I went to go to the food bank but I needed to withdraw money.. so I went to the ATM and found 50,000 in my bank!!!!! I just got out from double-checking in the bank and someone anonymously gave me this money, I am utterly in shock, I haven't moved from this bench across the bank in ages, I don't know how to feel right now...

I hit send and feel tingles go through my body as I steady my heartbeat, I can't believe this, this is just so lucky! I'm definitely ordering Max's favorite tonight, I will surprise him instead of pancakes and waffles.

My phone dings and I see it's Austin.

I think about it and I just might, I have always wanted new shoes, but never had the money to afford them, I can finally get a nice coat too, the possibilities are endless.

I reply back with a happy smirk on my face.

I just might! I haven't seen so much money before, I literally had nothing in my bank before I checked this morning, it's so crazy! This has helped me so much, I just wish I could thank whoever gave me this money..

I definitely want to find out who sent me so much money, I am utterly speechless, I would probably end up insisting whoever they are to take it back, it's just too much money!

u had no money? this is ur lucky day, what u gonna buy first?

I reply instantly.

Shoes!!!!

I chuckle and reply back.

Well.. I could never afford brand new, so I always bought second-hand, it's just me and my little brother so I had to work extra hard just for the second-hand shoes, but now I can finally get some brand new ones for us... Sorry, you must think I'm so weird to be excited about something so.. silly

I feel embarrassed talking about my... situation so I stand up from the bench and begin to walk to the high street and look for some new stuff for me and Max, maybe I'll go to a proper supermarket and buy groceries, I'm too excited thinking about it, I'm smiling so wide that people are looking at me funny.

My phone dings and I got a reply from the mysterious Austin.

go shop and enjoy urself, i gotta go, enjoy the $$$, speak to u later

I smile and lock my phone, even though I have no idea who this Austin guy is, ever since he mixed my number up with whoever he was meant to contact, I have had good luck, apart from being fired, but I'm going to assume he is a nice guy due to the fact he is still talking to me and hasn't judged me from how I have been living.

He's the first friend I've made in such a strange way, even though he said he was only talking to me because he was bored and I was interesting.. It still makes me happy I have someone to speak to like this.

I wonder who he is anyway? He is such a mystery.

I'll bring it up the next time he texts me if I remember to.

I walk into a big shopping mall in the high street and it has all the best brands inside, I head straight for a shoe shop and begin to look for something suitable for Max and I, totally unable to wipe the smirk from my face I walk into the shop and finally browse with the intent in buying something.

After shopping I went to get fresh groceries from the supermarket then I dropped everything off at home. I can't believe I have bought food and shoes and some new school and casual clothes for Max and I.

I can't wait to see his face! I'm currently waiting outside with all the moms and dads waiting for the children to leave through the front doors of the school building.

I hear a bell ring and then I see children coming from the front door of the school. I wait for Max and try to spot him in the crowd full of children, but Max is easy to spot due to his floppy head of hair.

I see him and I wave at him hoping he notices me, when he looks up he sees me waving and his eyes light and he smiles a toothy grin at me, waving back then running into a full-on sprint towards me, causing me to giggle.

"ROSE! YOU CAME!" Max says happily as he runs into my leg and I bend down and hold his school bag for him, smiling at how cute he looks right now.

"Of course! Let's go hope! I have a huge surprise waiting for you." I say grinning as he smiles back curiously.

I hold his hand as we begin to walk back home. "How was your day Maxy?" I ask as he skips whilst holding onto my hand.

He looks at me happily and points to his school bag. "I painted you a picture! It was so awesome, Thomas and Ren said I drew the best picture, my teacher even said I have talent Rose!" He says happily and I giggle.

"I can't wait to put it on the fridge buddy, you are so good at everything you do!" I praise him and he grins smugly at me.

We make it to the house and I unlock the door, the first thing Max notices is that we can now turn the lights on because I paid the electricity bill, and the water bill, but he doesn't know that yet, but hurray! Now we also have hot water so I don't have to heat water in a pan anymore for a bath.

He runs into the living room and he gasps loudly as I lock the door behind me. "WOAH!!!" He yells out as I hear him go through some bags.

I chuckle and put my coat away and then head into the living room to see him kneeling in front of the bags and looking at them curiously, as a boy on Christmas.

"What are these Rose? Are they ours?" He looks at me, with his big round eyes lit up.

I nod my head smiling and sit on the dirty old sofa as I watch him look at each bag and then to me.

"Go ahead, it's all yours buddy." I say, hinting towards the bags.

His eyes go wide. "R-Really? O-okay!" He says nervously but he grins with joy as he begins to go through the bags and pulls everything from inside them.

The first thing he pulls from inside is the new school bag I got him, he is obsessed with the color red so I got him a red rucksack that all the young boys and girls are using these days.

"Wooww!! Thank you, Rose, i-is it really all mine?" He says tearfully, as he runs up to me and gives me a hug, I wrap my arms around him as nod my head, tears threatening to escape my eyes at how happy he is.

This is all I wanted to do for him, to see him happy and smile for a change, instead of frowning when we pass boys and girls with beautiful clothing and nice things, now I can finally give them to him.

"Hey, it's okay buddy, let's see what else I got you, okay?" I say rubbing his back and he nods his floppy hair.

He wipes his tear-soaked eyes as I pick up a box with a logo on the front, I had thought about this for some time but now I can finally afford this for him, his very first mobile phone, he has always pointed out a specific one whenever we pass the mobile shops.

I pass the box to him and his eyes light up as he sees what it is, he opens the lid and stares at the contents inside with a shocked expression, until his eyes meet mine and he can't hold his excitement anymore.

"THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! WOAH AND IT'S RED!"

I chuckle and sit back watching as he begins to fiddle with the phone and ignoring the rest of the bags, I watch him amused as I begin to type in my phone the number for the sushi takeaway.

This is going to make him even happier.

I can't wait to see his face!!
