《The Alpha's Protector》Nineteen

The feeling of hurtling to earth was not a calm one. My back was burning, the skin right on my shoulder blades was aching even worse. I squeezed my eyes as I went through the air, desperately trying to push out whatever wings my mother said I had.

They never came.

The ground hit me fast, a huge boom followed with me plowing into the earths dirt. I felt the buzz of being in an unfamiliar pack territory, groaning as I tried to stand up. I heard girlies around me, dismissing them because they wouldn't be able to see me, only feel my energy and power.

I looked up when ten wolves crashed into the clearing, all of them searching around for a threat. The Alphas big black wolf stared at me, growling as he shifted into his human form.

"What are you doing here Rogue?" His beta looked at him confused, staring straight through me.

"Alpha, what're you talking about? There's no Rogues here?" I smiled, walking forward to the paling Alpha.

The skin on my back ripped, my wings unfurling behind me. They reflected silver in the light, exactly like my wolf. Their wingspan was at least ten feet, the feathers moving in the wind.

Now they would fucking show up, not when I'm crashing through air.

"My name is Lena, I am-"

"Your the Princes mate!" The alpha was pale as a ghost, all of his pack mates looking at him concerned and afraid. None of them could see me, so I'm sure he looked insane right now.

"You're dead." He whispered the last part, his eyes wide as his heart rate rose.

"Not yet. I'm trying to find my body, and you're going to help me. Do you mind me asking what state I'm in?"

"Alpha Nicholas, what the hell are you doing? There's no one there!" His Beta shouted, the Alphas eyes still trained on me.

I sighed, rolling my eyes as I felt the molecules within my body shift. Growls rang through the air as I became visible, the wolves standing in front of their Alpha in defensive crouches. I looked at all of them, waiting for realization to crash into their brains.

And crash it did.

All of their eyes widened at almost the exact same time. They looked at me as well as my wings in disbelief, their bodies slacking a bit before they resumed standing before their Alpha.

"Tell me what state I'm in, I need to go back to my body, back to my mate." The Alpha nodded slowly, his mouth gaping open. "Look, Alpha Nicholas is it? The only reason they can see me is because I'm letting them, but it is causing me to tire out. The reason you can see me is because the Goddess herself chose you to help me. I need to go back to Washington, my empty body is there and so is my mate, Tyler."

The sheer mention of his name caused my heart to hurt, my molecules shifting again as I left the normal wolves line of vision. I fell onto my knees as the Alpha rushed forward, his eyes concerned but still guarded as they took me in. My wings curled back into me, my eyes shutting as almost all my energy left me.

"Maybe you should sleep here, in the pack house for the night." I looked back to him, shaking my head.

"I've been gone for too long, nearly three months. Angels and Demons alike are going to try to take my soul, I can't put your pack in that type of danger." He shook his head at me, taking my arm and pulling me up gently.

"As the future Queen, let me. You need to sleep, and rest. We're in Maine, your trip will be long." I sighed in defeat, following him closely.

I felt my body shift and allow myself to come into view, letting those around me see my dirty clothes and grime covered skin. He led me through dense woods, letting us out in a clearing with a small three story house. It paled in comparison to the castle, it pales in comparison to the pack house from weeks ago.

That made me nearly stop in my tracks, I had forgotten about the pack house. It had left my mind, for the first time I didn't feel the crushing guilt that usually associated with it.

But it came back full force, causing me to tear my eyes from the children playing in the yard, away from the mothers scolding their sons and mates placing small kisses on one another. The Alpha led me further into the yard, the small group of wolves surrounding me in a circle.

One by one, sets of eyes widened as my white hair peeked through the gaps of men. I could practically hear their thoughts, although their words weren't much different.

I finally crossed the threshold of the home, the wolves dispersing around me. I looked up to Alpha Nicholas's expectant eyes, following behind him closely to his office. I stepped in behind him, shutting the heavy oak door behind me. I pulled myself into a leather chair before his massive desk, watching him collapse into his own office chair.

"You are aware you can't call Tyler, correct?" His head rested in his hands, a small nod being the only indication he heard me.

"I know, he'd think I was insane and probably start a war or some bullshit like that." I laughed, because that sounded exactly like Tyler. "Do you mind me asking why I was chosen?"

I shrugged, pulling my legs to my chest. "I honestly have no idea, but I do know I need to sleep and leave as soon as possible. When I find my body again, I'll formally thank your pack. Again, I'm sorry for any inconveniences I'm causing you."

He shook his head as he stood, walking around his desk and towards his door. "Follow me."

I scrambled as I tried to catch up to him, his large muscular body leading me to a door on the second floor. He opened it to me, a normal guest room with a queen size bed in the center. I nodded my gratefulness to him, watching him leave me to myself and to adjoining bathroom.

Thank god because I needed a shower.

I walked in and began looking through the pockets to the dark jeans I had woken up in. I found a string, pocket change, and a dark stone knife. I furrowed my eyebrows as I pulled it out, this wasn't my knife, and I had never even seen it before.

'What the hell?'

My eyes widened, i still have my wolf!

'How are you still with me? I'm not in my body?'

'Your soul is a part of me, just as I am with you. Tyler only had half of his soul right now, that's why we need to go home and be with mate.'

'I miss him.' She sighed in my head, nodding her head. I quickly showered and went back to my bed, snuggling deeper in the covers. I shut my eyes, thanking the Goddess for my extra chance.

Sunlight filtered in through the window, my eyes flying open. A knock sounded on my door, the door opening a few inches as the Beta stuck his head in.

"Queen Lena, are you in here?" I shifted my body so he could see me, chasing him to jump back an inch or so in fright. I laughed, causing him to smile at me.

"Sorry, when I sleep I don't shift the molecules in my body." He fully opened the door, stepping in as he smiled at me.

"It's okay, Alpha Nicholas told me to retrieve you. Breakfast is ready and then he'll send you on your way." I smiled as I followed him, bounding down the steps behind him.

The Alpha grinned as I entered, a small timid girl sitting at the seat next to him. His eyes flickered to her, a look of love and adoration plain on his face. I knew immediately who she was to him, his mate.

"Hello Queen Lena!" His voice boomed in the room, everyone's eyes turning to me. A few gasps sounded through the room, multiple pairs of eyes widening.

"We thought you were de-dead." Someone spoke, a teenage boy around my age with shaking hands. I gave him a soft smile, walking closer to Alpha Nicholas and his mate.

"I am, I'm returning to my body soon. I apologize for any inconveniences I have caused your pack." The Aloha simply smiled at me before gripping his mates hand, her eyes cold as she looked at me.

I shrugged as I sat down, quickly putting fruits on my plate. I drank water from my glass, my eyes watching over the edge of my cup. The entire pack was silent, murmuring to one another and casting fleeting glances my way. I sighed, looking back to the Alpha.

"I should be leaving, your pack is on edge with me here." His eyes scanned the room before he gave me a small nod, reaching into his pocket. He pulled out a few bills, shoving them gently in my hands. "I can't take this."

He shook his head, pushing them into my clenched hands. "In case of emergencies, just remember my small pack when you return to your kingdom."

I smiled as everyone filled out of the room, making their way outside to training. I quickly went upstairs and put everything I had taken out of my pocket back in, before making my way back outside. I unfurled my wings as soon as I stepped outside, everyone's eyes drawn to me immediately.

"Goodbye, SunDawn Pack." I gave them a smile before losing my visibility, the only one that could see me being the Alpha.

I bent my legs as I pushed up, soaring through the air as my wings pushed me higher and higher through the clouds. I smiled, this almost felt as good as being in my wolf form, free and open.

'I prefer being a wolf.'

I openly laughed at her, hearing her huff inside my head. I flew over the trees below me, the sun beating down on my skin. I didn't feel the warmth from it though, I didn't feel the wind nor the rain. I was a shell, an empty soul trying to find its way back to my host.

The sun was setting when I entered Washington, I was only an hour away from my home. This pushed me to fly faster, my eyes shutting on their own accord as I got closer and closer to my mate. My wolf was crying out of happiness, the air around me buzzing as I flew closer and landed right outside the territory.

I stepped forward, feeling the familiar push of the boundaries opening up to me. I quickly ran, curling my wings back into my body as I dodged trees in the forest. I burst through the meadow along the castle wall, expecting to see happy families and children playing.

But all I found was chaos.

Three men were stood in the center of the garden I had grown to love, their swords drawn and their teeth barred. Their wings unfurled, standing white as the clouds themselves, with golden lights illuminating them as halos.

"Where is Lena!" The one in the middle shouted, anger clear on his face.

Tyler stood before him with his father, Ashe close behind them. I stepped further into the garden, Ashe's eyes widening as she looked at me. Her face paled, her eyes flickering back between her husband and her son. I shook my head, but her hands kept trembling.

"She is unconscious, what the hell do you want with her!" Tyler looked thin, with bags under his eyes and a beard growing on his face. His eyes looked so broken it hurt me, my wolf no crying in sadness instead of happiness from earlier.

"Her soul needs to cross over, her soul no longer belongs on this earth. Her vessel must die, for her soul to fully leave this earth." One of the men on the right spoke, his sword glinting as he twisted it in his hand.

"You will not touch her!"

"I'd like to see you stop us." One of them smirked, causing my blood to boil.

"He may not be able too," I shifted my molecules, unfurling my wings as I stepped to them. Tyler's eyes brightened and then widened when he took in my wings, Ashe clinging to Xander. I took out the sword from my pocket, the previous dagger extending to three feet at least, and twisted it so the handle lay comfortably in my hand. "But I sure as hell will."

The one in the middle grinned, his eyes darkening as he looked at me.

"Then so be it."
