《The Alpha's Protector》Seven

I crept into the library late at night, close to three am. I rarely slept, every time I closed my eyes all I seemed to see was Tyler's green eyes. I stiffened when I stepped over the threshold, my eyes locked in on Tyler's figure.

I crept around the shadows, watching him in the light. He stood in front of the piano, staring at the keys like he was afraid. I breathed in as he pressed down on one of the keys, the sharp noise drowning out the thick air.

'Play something.'

I remember a story his mother told me, about how her mate and her really fell in love over the piano. I never quite understood what she meant, until now. Watching Tyler sit at the bench, it caused my heart to clench inside of me.

His hands flew over the keys, emotion pouring out as he pressed the note into the air. He pretended not to love the music, but i didn't know why. He was beautifully talented, and never missed a note.

I stayed in the shadows long after he finished, never even missing a beat as he simply transitioned from one song to another. I made my way to the door, opening it slowly when the music abruptly stopped, and the sound of the bench screeching as it pulled back filled the air.

"Wait," his voice was deep and husky, a quality that seemed to drive woman wild. "Please stay, I'll play forever if you just stay."

I turned and smiled, shutting the door wth a soft click. I soundlessly walked the distance to stand in front of him, cocking my head upwards so I could look into his emerald irises that had such a hold on me.

"Will you sing me Frank Sinatra?" He smiled as he reached forward, grasping my hand gingerly.

"I'll do anything for you." I walked with him to the bench of the piano, sitting directly next to him. A few inches separated us, but I could feel the electricity humming in that short space.

His hands played along the keys, one of my favorite songs playing out through the air. He opened his mouth and sung to me, deep and fluid like black silk. I crumpled under it, my eyes shutting as it passed through me. I felt every emotion I could possibly feel fly through me as he sang, lowly, as if it is only meant for us, and us alone.

He stopped in the middle of a word, his fingers laced over the keys. I peered up through my eyelashes to find him looking at me, the moonlight cascading over half of his face. One side of him was dark and hidden in the shadows, while one lit up so bright as if he was the Moon himself.

I inched in closer, hearing his breath hitch as my skin touched his. His fingers slid of the keys as he placed them on me, one on my thigh, the other on my jaw. We inched together slowly, as if time was standing still and nothing could ever stop us, and nothing ever would.

His lips touched mine like snowflakes, light and feathery to the touch. I could taste his toothpaste and lemons on his lips, sending my wolf inside of me into overdrive. She howled at me, crying for the touch of her mate. I couldn't resist her, purely for the fact that I wanted it just as bad.

I pressed deeper, my hand grazing over his growing bulge in his lap. His mouth opened in a gasp as I slipped my tongue in, smirking into our kiss. The taste of lemons grew stronger as my tongue clashed with his, my hands reaching forward and gripping into his hair. He moaned into my mouth as I tugged on his curls, my fingers tracing circles along the skin of his neck.

He pulled away and trailed down my jaw, leaving open mouth kisses until he reached my soft spot at the curve of my neck. I moaned out into the open air, Tyler running rigid under me. He growled as he picked me up, swiftly bringing me down the hallway and into his room faster than I could comprehend. He ripped off his shirt before tugging off my own, leaving me in my bra and shorts. I shivered in the cold air, goosebumps prickling my skin as he trailed down the curve of my breasts. He pawed at me through my bra, causing yet another moan to escape from me.

"Tyler, fuck-." I arched my back as he kissed me right below my belly button, his teeth grazing along my skin. He chuckled as he trailed back up, his lips collapsing over mine.

"This is the farthest I've ever truly gone with someone before." I smiled at his whispered words, reaching behind me to unclasp my bra. He sucked in a breath when I took it off, his eyes trailing over my body. "So incredibly beautiful. Remind me to ask about the tattoos later." He murmured into my skin.

He pressed his chest flush against mine, his fingers teasing the buds of my nipples. I cried out softly under his touch as he kissed me deeply, my lips igniting fire explosion under his skin as I sucked at the base of his throat. I pulled away with a toothy grin when I saw all the love bites I gave him, sucking on the spot I would mark him one day.

"One day, I'm going to mark you here," I whispered into his ear, shivers spreading out through his body. "And then you'll mark me here." My fingers trailed along my own skin, his chest heaving up and down as he watched me.

"We could do it now, if you'd let me." I gave him another kiss, sliding out of his bed.

I walked to his closet and took out one of his old football jerseys, slipping it on me before I took of my shorts. I climbed back into the bed with just his shirt and underwear on, falling asleep to his fingers tracing up and down my thighs.

I woke up the next morning before the sun came up, my eyes flashing to Tyler. He laid there peacefully, any lines or dark circles gone. I smiled as I slid out from his arm, his hand clutching onto me before relaxing once I gave him my pillow that smelt of me. I leaned forward and pressed my lips to his forehead, making my way to my room to change.

Once I changed I ran out to the edge of the forest, meeting with Jessie who simply nodded as we switched patrol shifts. I climbed along the trees, swinging like I was a monkey instead of a wolf. I smiled as I pictured hanging into a ape instead of my silver wolf, a wolf no one has quite seen yet.

The sun just began to appear in the sky when I smelt it — iron and salt. I ran to the edge, coming out into a large meadow filled with all different colors of flowers. I growled when I saw the pale bloodsuckers before me, a smirk on almost all of their faces.

They stood at at least 20 men, all pale and dark and devilishly handsome. I growled as they stood there, not making any attempt at an attack. I know they didn't have long, the sun would be fully up in the sky soon, and that would burn their skin. Vampires could take the sun, but not for longer than ten minutes or so, and definitely not without any shade.

'Tyler!'

'Angel, where are you?'

I sighed as the vampires shifted, a few walking behind me to circle me in. I growled as a obvious leader stood behind two vampires, attempting to throw it off the fact he was the one I was after.

'Some meadow with a shit ton of flowers. There's 20 vampires at least, bring warriors.'

I shut off the link as one of the vampires stepped forward, no power radiating off of him at all. "So you're the little girl we're supposed to be afraid of?"

I heard laughter around me as the bloodsuckers chuckled at that lane joke. I rolled my eyes, my hands inching towards the wooden tipped knife I kept right next to my silver one. "Funny that you're talking to me, considering you're not the leader."

They stilled at my words, my eyes boring into the real one. I clicked my tongue before pointing my index finger at him, waving it slightly like I was scolding him.

"Are you going to talk or are you just going to let your lackeys do it?"

His eyebrows shot up as I spoke, amusement clear on his face. He took a small step forward, his dark hair masked in the shadows of the single tree he stood by. He was the only one that I couldn't see in detail, and it was irking me to no extent.

"Your mother was absolutely right about you, you're just like her." I stiffened at his words, fire burning inside of me.

"Who the hell are you and how the fuck do you know my mother!" I growled at him, the vampires around me hanging their head. I gasped as their heads swung low, my eyes darting between all of them.

The mystery leech stepped forward, his eyes, no, his goddamn silver eyes, the exact same silver as mine, stared at me as if he just saw a shooting star. He grinned, taking yet another step forward to me. I could hear the rustling of trees a mile or so away, my pack would be here soon, and I would get answers.

"As much as we'd love to stay and chat, I'm here to finish some business. Names Damon, it's about time the queen told you who you fucking were, and your mother dear, is my own." He took something out of his pocket, using my distraction to send a knife hurtling through the air.

It landed in my lower stomach as he spun and ran, the group running in the direction the pack was coming in. I heard screams and growls filling the air, as I simply stood there and felt the warm blood fall down my shirt.

I tried processing what he told me, I was a wolf, a hybrid, nothing special? But why would Ashe, the closest thing I actually had to a mother, hide who I was? I willed my legs forward, my body swaying as I walked.

My feet were bare, the knife still stuck inside of my skin. I didn't care, something inside of me snapped, and I felt alone. I fell hollow, numb, and I couldn't figure out why?

I walked for hours, hours upon hours, until my feet bled, and I had hundreds of scratches on my arms. I heard paws on the earth, felt the soul beneath my toes, but no one found me. My blood had dried, but kept continuing to leave my body.

'Why wasn't I healing?'

I felt my wolf whine inside of me, pain ricocheting through every nerve endings I had.

'Somethings on the knife, something's inside of us.'

I cringed at her words, knowing it had to be bad for her to be speaking to me. My wolf didn't speak much, except for in times of dire need. Most wolves were other halves to their humans, immune was only a quarter, and she often felt neglected with being a vampire and a Protector. She always complained we never ran enough, never shifted enough, never ate enough in our wolf form.

I finally staggered to a small river, my hand gripping on a small tree for support. I felt weightless, but I could still feel whatever the hell it was running through me. I used some of the water to clean the wound, black spider veins now leaving the open impact sight. I cringed at the smell, rotting flesh and death.

I followed the river upstream, the castle coming into view. The sun had gone down, leaving the home completely dark as I stumbled into my secret passageway. I gritted my teeth as my body screamed at me, my feet blindly making their way to the throne room. I heard screaming from twenty feet away, the sound of something crashing booming through the empty hall.

"Where the hell is she? You are all supposed to be the best, why hadn't she been found!" I could pinpoint Tyler's voice from miles away, and even now when he was screaming, it found its way to relax my taunt muscles.

I heard mumbled apologizes as I slammed open the door, hundreds of eyes snapping to me. I'm sure I looked like a mess, my hair was matted with twigs and leaves stuck in it. Blood was all over my body, a knife still somehow stuck inside of me. It seemed no matter how much I wanted to pull the ducking thing out, I couldn't.

"What am I!" I slurred as I stumbled forward, releasing all of the power and strength I had in me left. My eyes met Queen Ashes, a look of horror flying through her features. They all stared at me as I heaved out the air in my lungs, my eyes wild as I looked directly at the Queen. "You know what I am!"

I felt my body sway, gravity working it's magic as I tumbled to the floor. Whatever little healing I had done went down in flames, as more pain courses through me. I withered on the floor as blood trickled out of me, a small scream seeming to snap everyone out of whatever trance they were in.

I heard screaming, but it took a while for me to realize it was me. Black faded around the edges of my vision as I felt my body get picked up and the knife ripped out of me. I screamed in agony as the pain kicked it up a notch, absolute agony flowing through me.

I saw the queens eyes before I stopped fighting, the strange orange that once lulled me back to sleep after nightmares now looked strange and distant, as if she was afraid I'd break.
