《The Alpha's Protector》Two

I pulled the bow back as I watched the Rogue run through the forest. He was fifty feet from Tyler, who was too drunk to even notice him. I released it as the familiar sound passed through my ears, the arrow embedding itself into the head of the black Rogue.
Tyler simply sat in front of a lake and waterfall, where his parents met. No one knows, but Tyler's speaks to his mate there. Every time the stars are out, he begins to talk to her.
Little does he know that she's listening.
He's telling me about a failed math quiz, how he's hopelessly awful at algebra. I don't show much emotions, but it seems like anything he does effects me. Today was my seventeenth birthday, and the already there bond just grew stronger. I saw him in a new light, his features sharper and his kindness greater.
No one saw his kindness though. They all saw a ruthless cold player, who simply used girls and threw them away. The girls always said he slept with them, afraid of their reputation of being kicked out by their soon to be alpha. But I saw the Tyler that I wished everyone saw.
He spent hours at the hospitals and orphanages, giving money when he could and volunteering for so many charities it drove me wild. He constantly went to galas and balls, saying he was networking and making alliances, when in reality he was focusing on bringing more pack members into a charity.
I was so ridiculously in love with him it was pathetic.
'Lena, the king and Queen wishes to speak with you.'
I pulled my bow behind me and dropped to the forest floor, sending a silent word of love to Tyler before I turned and left. I made my way to my secret door on the west wing of the palace, the cold hallways strangely welcoming me. I made my way through the dark halls, velvet curtains and bright paintings greeting me with every turn I took.
I finally stood outside the office of the king, a large crown engraved in the wooden door. I knocked twice, pausing before knocking once more. The door opened to reveal the queen herself, dressed in leggings and her husbands sweatshirt. She smelt of him and love, my heart panting as I reluctantly thought of my mate and what I would have to do if I ever made contact with him.
"Come in, we need to discuss something." I smiled as I took a step forward, making my way to my favorite seat in the office. A worn chair sat towards the side of the office, a dark musty orange color that completely clashed with the theme of the room. I knew why they kept it, it smelt of my mate and brought me comfort every time. This was his seat, and unbeknownst to him, mine as well.

"My son has been getting more threats, they've been getting closer and more frequent. We," he paused to look at his wife, who sat on the armrest of the chair he sat in. I saw Tyler run both of them, causing my hand to unconsciously rub the center of my chest. "We think it would be best if you personally entered his school and took out the threats formally."
I looked between him and his mate, her eyes shining with amusement as I took everything in. "With all due respect sir, I cannot do that."
He growled lowly at my blatant disrespect to his orders. His mate touched his arm, smiling at me as she refused to meet his eye. "Why don't you tell him why Lena?"
I huffed as his accusing eye met mine, my tongue dancing around I my mouth as I tried to think. I needed a reason, a valid reason that doesn't include how hopelessly in love I was with your son, oh by the way, I'm also his fucking mate.
'Just tell him! He's our mate, we should be with mate. We love mate, so much so!'
I grumbled as my wolf yapped inside my brain, rubbing my temples as I attempted to block her out. She had been like this since I met Tyler when I was six, and every time I was within a mile of him she would go crazy.
"Tell me what?" He rumbled, his gaze fleeting between me and his mate.
"She's his mate." A crash resonated through the room as Xander stood up, the chair under him crumbling as he gripped onto the flimsy wood.
"How long have you known?" He stalked towards me, his eyes I longer the green that I had fallen for in his son, but a menacing pitch black.
"Since I was six." He jolted forward and wrapped his hands around my neck, the only noise getting through to my ears was the sound of his mate screaming at him.
He released his grip before throwing me back against the wall, my body cracking as it hit the hard wood. I crumpled against the floor, pushing myself to my elbows and knees. I sucked in a shaky breath, my gaze attempting to meet the Queen and Kings.
He looked sorrowful, regret and shame flashing through him. The Queen stepped forward and helped me stand, biting my lip as pain radiated through me.
"I will not introduce him to myself until absolutely necessary, I will call upon other Protectors to enter the school and befriend him. Once I introduce myself, I will do something I'm sure I will regret later on, but his safety means the most to me." His mother watched me before slowly nodding, looking back to her mate.

"Tyler felt the pain, he's on his way here. You need to leave." I nodded before shuffling to the secret door I had installed, leading me directly to my room.
I wasn't worried about my scent, as a Protector I had no scent unless I willingly allowed it to be smelt. I walked into my room, the only place that really showed my personality. Fairy lights and tapestries hung everywhere, a flat screen TV perched on the wall across from my bed. The room was sound proofed, after a close call when I was ten they changed and fixed my room.
I was riddled with nightmares, plagued by a dark man that always killed Tyler. No matter how much I pushed or fought, it always ended the same way. Tyler would be dead, and I would be raped.
I opened my phone and placed a call to Ethan, knowing he would round everyone up within the night. It rang twice before I heard shuffling through the receiver, his deep voice filling he room.
"Hello?"
"I need help, the threats on Tyler's life has grown closer. They want me to enter personally, but you know why I can't. Can you round everyone and enter be school undercover as a human, and try to see who the rat is?" I heard the shuffling again before the sick sound of a knife plunging into a body, the sound of gurgling causing my nose to wrinkle. "Couldn't you have waited until I hung up before you killed whoever that was?"
"Wheres the fun in that?" I chuckled as I walked into the bathroom, my eyes taking over m body as I undressed. "We'll be there tomorrow around 10 am, and hopefully enter the school by noon."
I sighed in relief, sticking my hand through he shower to flip it on. "Thank you, I'll see you soon."
I shut the phone and peeled off my clothes, my body covered in scars and the occasional tattoo. All Protectors had tattoos that called upon the powers of the Moon Goddess, increasing our agility and speed beyond the power of any wolves.
I showered and smelt the air as I stepped out, the smell of my mate attacking my nose. His bedroom was directly next to mine, in case of any emergencies. I heard shuffling before the bed springs groaned, a smile finding it's away onto my face.
I waited three hours before I slipped out my room and into his, his sleeping body peaceful on the large king bed. This bed only held him, and occasionally me. I knew it was creepy, but my body yearned for him so much it drove me wild. I stood there watching his chest rise, the moon radiating through the window as it lit him up.
"Who are you?" I jolted at his words, his eyes snapping open as he search through the darkness. He couldn't see my face, only my legs and pet of my torso.
His heart rate rose through my ears, his feet swinging off the bed. I had been through battles, killed hundreds of men, but I was frozen as he made his way towards me. I let my guard down, my scent shafting slowly through the air before I cut it off abruptly.
He growled through the air as I broke from whatever trance I was in, bolting through the door as I slipped down the hallway. I pushed open the painting that hid my door, climbing in as I heard footsteps echoing through the castle. I shut the painting, peeking my eye through the small peephole I had made.
Tyler stood there with hit soon to be Beta, Alex Jr, but he simply went by Alex, and his Delta, John. They were the children of the Kings Beta and Delta, both of them obviously having just been woken up.
"What the hell dude, why'd you wake us?" Alex grumbled, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
"I found her, I found my mate. She went down here, but, I don't kneel where she is now." My heart panged as I felt his sadness, my wolf yearning to bust out of the hole in the wall and hold him. She whimpered within me, clawing to surface.
"Where is she? More importantly, who is she?" John asked, my eyes wafting over their appearances. Alex had the blonde hair of his mother, and the brown eyes of his father. John had been adopted, with brown hair and brown eyes with deep tan skin.
"I don't know, I don't know!" Tyler growled as he punched the wall, leaving a hole closer to me than I wanted. I shifted away from the hole, keeping my eyes on the trio of boys in front of me. "Don't tell a soul about this, I don't want anyone finding her and hurting her."
I smiled as I made my way back into my room, cursing myself for my slip up. I slipped under my bed, clutching the pillow next to me, pretending it was Tyler.
My Tyler.

Child of the Ancients: An Apocalypse LitRPG
It all started in the middle of Dante's nap. He wanted to sleep his life away, but the system denied his request. Instead, it began to transform the Earth, integrating it into the multiverse by granting everyone stats and skills. He was talented, or so the system thought. And that meant he needed to be challenged. After being sent into a deadly cavern, Dante strives for the future he's always desired. But when he learns about the secrets hidden within him, he's shaken to his very core. He wishes for the nightmare to end until something goes wrong. [The world will end in one year.] Instead of everyone receiving a relatively gentle tutorial, the people of Earth are deemed redundant. Dante makes it his goal to save as many people as he can before the world ends, but with billions of lives at stake, he might have to turn into a monster before he can become a hero. Planned updates (2500+ words): M/W/F. 12pm AEST/ 9am EST. M-F during Writeathon. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: All system apocalypse novels seem to jump straight over the apocalypse itself, which I find very sad. I don't want this to turn into a typical fantasy novel in about ten chapters. Instead, I hope to explore the destruction of society and how things would look if superpowers suddenly appeared in the real world. Before the real apocalypse happens, of course. There will be base building, and likely romance once things settle down. Also dragons, because they are awesome :)

Rooms of the Desolate
Rooms of the Desolate is a collection of short stories designed to guide the reader through the many rooms and mysteries of the bleak and greyscale labyrinth of the Desolate. The first entry, "The Forever Tower" follows an unnamed wanderer climbing an endless, colourless tower; the only world they have ever known. As they slowly ascend alongside the masses, they consider the nature of their world and look to the corridors as temptation beckons. The second entry, "Production Line", follows an engineer in a boundless factory, who encounters a product that does not wish to bow to the overseers and makes them question their belief in the truth and duties they were made to believe. Content guidelines: Current entries do not include explicit profanity, but future entries may do so, hence the presence of that tag. Some entries do include gore and violence, though not currently to particularly extreme degrees. The Desolate is exactly that: a desolate world; as such, it is bleak, downtrodden, and may deal with mental struggles. Cover art credit: Adam Borkowski on Pexels.
