"But I never asked you to drop me here. I could've drove myself. It was you who was adamant on giving me a ride here. If you're this punctual, you should have taken the opposite way instead of dropping me here." She said.

"Unbelievable." I sighed and stopped the car. "You've reached, you can go." Just when she stepped out, I started the car and drove back to office without looking back.

I mean, I helped her and she's acting as if it's all my fault.

Wasn't it her fault too?

Is talking with friends more important than someone's work?

Sigh!

Reaching my office, I parked the car and went inside.

Checking all the designs for the last time, I walked into the meeting room to finalize the work of our new showroom.

It's going to be a long work!

When I returned back after the dinner, I saw all the lights of our home off. Ofcourse! No one at our home stays awake till one at night.

Walking inside our room, I switched the lights on and saw her sleeping on the bed, hugging a pillow.

I never knew she likes to cuddle while sleeping.

But then, I don't know anything about her!

Changing my clothes, I lied beside her and closed my eyes. But clearly speaking, sleep was far away from me. Did I say a bit too much today?

Not really!

It was her who wanted to prove herself right, even if she wasn't.

But, ten minutes really didn't cause a lot of havoc in my work.

Still! You can't bring back the time wasted.

While all the thoughts went through my mind, I closed my eyes, eventually giving in to slumber.

Hearing the sound of bell ringing, I woke up and saw the room empty. I stretched my arms and descended the bed. Opening the door of bathroom, I went inside and quickly brushed my teeth.

I took a quick shower and wore my clothes. Going out of the closet, someone collided with me. I looked down and saw Shruti rubbing her head.

Why do we always collide?

This happens almost two times everyday!

"I'm sorry." She said and paced towards the bathroom. That was a really short conversation. What happened to her?

Wearing my watch, I brushed my locks and walked out.

"Finally! You're back." Radhika said sarcastically while eating her breakfast.

"Back? Where did I go?" I asked.

"As if you don't know! No-one leaves his wife alone at home just after a few days of his wedding." Radhika said and I looked at Shruti who was busy in eating her breakfast.

She made a weird face and kept her eyes down.

Was it sadness or anger?

I don't know!

"I was busy with some urgent work." I said and Radhika narrowed her eyes.

"Work is not more important than your personal life! Do you even know how gloomy Shruti looked last night?"

"I wasn't feeling gloomy." Shruti interrupted in between.

"Really? But you looked sad."

"I wasn't sad. I was just tired with some work." Shruti said and Radhika nodded.

Was she really sad because of me?

Maybe or maybe not.

But Radhika is right. I need to separate some time for our personal life too.

"I need to go early. There's some work." Shruti said while leaving her seat.

"I'll drop you." I said while completing my last bite.

"No, it's alright. I'll drive on my own." She said and left while carrying her purse.

That was a bit rude!

I was trying to help her.

And she gave thanks in the form of rude words.

Even I'm not interested!

Washing my hands and mouth, I took my leave and drove straight to my office.

"Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes..... Why do you think I would cheat on you?" Ansh whined on his call. "But baby, I'm not roaming around. I'm with your brother."

Why is he dragging me into this?

He forwarded his phone to me and gestured me to talk to her. "Her pregnancy hormones are on its peak. Make her assured by saying that I'm with you."

They're really strange!

"Radhika."

"Is Ansh really with you?"

"Hmm... Your husband is unemployed and spends most of his day in my office. Don't worry, he's not cheating on you. But I'm worried about his income. What will he earn?" I said, earning a glare from him.

"That idiot! Let him come back. I'll tell him what to do." She said before hanging the call.

"I'm not unemployed. My work is done and I was just passing by your company. It's not a sin to meet my brother-in-law daily."

"Brother-in-law?"

"Okay. You're my friend first."

"Why does she think that you're cheating on her?"

"Nothing. She never behaved like that. Now, whenever I stay out for some work, she gets all those wierd thoughts. It's not totally her fault too. Being pregnant, her hormones are on toll and she thinks a lot. God knows what our child is doing to her."

"It would be alright."

"I hope so." He said and stood up. "I'll leave. Radhika would be waiting to shower all her anger on me."

As he left, I engrossed in my work, creating a new design.

Completing all my work, I picked my phone up to message Shruti.

Should I pick you?

No.

What?

Just a mono-syllable answer.

Walking back to my car, I sat on the driving seat and started the car. I drove towards her firm and stopped the car to wait for her.

As ten minutes went by, I sighed and stepped out. I saw an employee of her firm and asked her about Shruti. And the only answer I got was that she had already left for home.

She could have atleast informed me.

Maybe, it's my fault.

I shouldn't have shouted on her yesterday.

Going back to my car, I started it again and drove to our home.

But one thing I could say is— fights are better than silence.

When we were fighting, atleast we could shout out our mind.

But when we're in a silent fight, it feels as if we're too close but too far.

As I reached back, I stepped out of car and went inside where I saw everyone busy in their own work. It's usual to see everyone busy in the preparations for dinner and other things in evening.

I stepped in our room in hope to have a sight of her, but the room was empty. Washing myself, I changed into pyjamas and walked out to search for Shruti.

Mission : Finding Shruti, my wife.

I checked the living room but could only see papa there. I turned to go but he stopped me. "Rishi, where are you going?"

What a bad timing!

"I... I'm going to have some water."

"Here it is." He said, directing towards the table. Plan fail!

"I want to have chilled water. It's in the fridge." I gave an excuse and he raised his eyebrow.

"Weather is changing. You'll catch cold."

"But I want to drink it." I said and he shook his head in disbelief. I turned back and paced towards the kitchen where I saw Shruti stirring something in the pan.

It's now, or never.

We need to solve matters between us as fast as possible.

I took slow steps and walked towards her. Taking a deep breathe, I snaked my arms around her waist and felt her going rigid.

I can do it.

I placed my chin on her shoulder and pulled her closer. "Shruti, I..... I shouldn't have shouted on you yesterday."

I waited for her to speak, but before she could say anything we heard ma clearing her throat. We immediately pulled back and saw ma laughing.

"You can continue it in your room. It's time for dinner." She chuckled and went out while carrying a bowl. Pouring all the content of pan in a bowl, Shruti too walked towards the dining table.

I sighed and pulled the door of refrigerator. Pulling a bottle out, I emptied it in a sip.

My work failed.

We all had our dinner together and went back to our rooms. Papa is really strict about the timings. Because of him, we all had to sleep early. But as we grew up, we had more studies which made him change his rules.

As she came out of the bathroom, I stood up from bed to talk to her but brushed the thought away before saying anything. Using the bathroom, I walked out and saw her lying on her side.

This would be the best time to discuss everything.

Getting inside the sheets, I switched the lights off and gazed in her direction. Shifting towards her, I snaked my arm around her, hugging her from back.

Just when my chest touched her back, I felt her breath stopping. "Shruti, you need to breathe." I said and she resumed breathing.

I can't believe she held her breathe just because of a hug.

What would happen when we.....

Nevermind.

This is time for something else.

"I know it was my fault to shout on you last night. I was irritated with all the work I had. But it doesn't defy that I could shout on you. I..... I'm sorry." I said, hoping to get my answer.

"It was my fault too. I shouldn't have stretched the matter. And ofcourse, urgent work is more important than chilling with friends." She said and I smiled.

Even if it's late, atleast she understood what's the priority.

"Thank you for understanding me." I said, "Shruti?"

"Hmm."

"It's been a week to our wedding and I've thought about it a lot. Let's give a fresh start to our relationship. We can't live like strangers under a roof forever..... What do you say?"

"You're right." She said and I sighed. "Umm... Rishabh, your hand?"

"Let it be there." I said and hugged her tightly before closing my eyes.

It felt warm and nice.

Maybe homely would be the perfect word.
