《Into You - Jennie Kim x Female Reader》Chapter Twenty Four

"Okay guys, gather up!" It's 8:15pm of the second day of the camp and everyone is still excited and hyped up for what's about to come.
"In this activity, you will be grouped into 6. So one member of each pair would pick a number from those bowls. And when we have already settled the groupings, I would further discuss what we will do tonight."
The students then began on picking numbers and a mixture of squeals and groans were heard as some were lucky enough to be in the same group as their friends while the others were grouped with the other sections.
"What did you get?" Lisa looked over Y/N's shoulder to see the number 3 written boldly on her paper.
"Uggg why? Life is so unfair man!" Lisa whined as Bambam laughed at his partner. Lisa's pair picked number 1 separating them from Y/N's and Jisoo's group 3.
"That's a pity." Jisoo said and Lisa playfully rolled her eyes at the older girl and walked over to where Group 1 is.
Y/N shook her head as she finds Lisa's childish antics amusing.
And if one would ask how Jennie is feeling now, she would gladly say that she's feeling better.
It's been 24 hours and thankfully, Jennie's ankle was already healed. And that's all thanks to Y/N who never let her move an inch after the incident.
"Okay okay! So we have our groups settled!" Mr. Shin beamed in happiness as he saw the students properly lined up, from group 1 to 6.
"Tonight, it's all gonna be about perceptions. Each group will have a teacher assigned to them who will act as the leader. And each group would have a topic that they will talk about. All the members in the group is required to give their own perceptions about the topic that was discussed." Everyone groaned at that as they felt like it's a graded recitation all over again.
"I know I know. You're all probably thinking on why we need to do this on a fine night in the middle of the woods. You're thinking that it's like a recitation but done outside your classrooms." The head teacher paused and looked around the students' faces and he could tell that he was right.
"But remember, the purpose of this whole camping is to have all your senses working and be in tune with your surroundings. You're in a generation where technology is a vital part of your daily lives. But our school needs you to have a connection with your environment. And when we say environment, it's not just the nature. People around you is also a part of your environment. So what's the best way to connect with the people around you? It's to know their perceptions on things."
He looked at them once again and was happy to know that most of them now understood the reason behind this activity.
"Now is there any questions?" Nobody raised their hands. "Okay great. Now, let's start this activity. Meet up with your leaders and enjoy the night! Chop chop!"

"I still don't understand why we need to do this." Rosé whispered to her friends as the rest of their group started talking about their topic, chances.
Jennie looked over at the younger girl and smiled as she saw the pout on her face. "Hey. Cheer up. This might be a lot different from what we did yesterday and this morning but give it a try and participate. This might be much more exciting than the rest."

Y/N smiled upon hearing Jennie's comment. She then put her arm around Jennie's shoulder and pulled the girl close to her.
"Eonnie is right. Lighten up, Chaeng!"
Y/N didn't know but the simple yet sudden gesture of hers made Jennie feel things.
"Hush people. You're so loud. I'm tryna listen you know." Jisoo scolded them and the three could only nod and zip their mouths shut.
"So in conclusion, chances are important." One of the group's members finished her explanation on her perception about their topic. And Jennie, Rosé, and Y/N prayed that their leader won't ask them on what the girl just talked about cause they honestly didn't listen.
"That's so nice to hear, Yeeun. Now Jennie, we'd love to hear your own thoughts."
Jennie gulped as she suddenly became nervous. She didn't know what to say cause her focus wasn't on the topic a while ago but on the girl being extremely sweet towards her, Y/N.
"Jennie? Your thoughts please." The leader said once again in a much more authoritative way that didn't help the poor girl's nervousness. But when she felt the soft hands caressing her own and looking into those eyes that she would gladly get lost into, a sudden wave of confidence found Jennie.
"Just like what Yeeun said, chances are important." Jennie paused as she made sure that she recalled what Yeeun said correctly. "Everyone has their own chances on different things. And many say that everyone deserves a second chance. But for me, you will only have one shot at everything. Chances are important since they are only a one time thing. If you miss it, then you can never have it back. Because they are too important that it won't come knocking at your door twice. So when it's right in front of you, take it. When it's given to you, grab it. Also, I just want to add this. We don't make the right time to take chances. The universe has its own way on letting you know that it's the time. So when you already feel it, do something about it. Don't let it slip away. Because that time will vanish into thin air if you fail to take it."
And just like that, everyone took turns on saying their thoughts. Their leader applauded Jennie for her opinion that differs from the members before her. True to what Jennie said, the activity became much more exciting than the rest.
Everyone was enjoying the said activity as they exchanged opinions but one particular girl was lost in her own world, Y/N.
•••
Y/N looked at her phone for the nth time tonight and sighed deeply. 11:45 pm, that's what her phone reads. The girl kept her eyes wide open despite the tiring day and even after their head teacher announced bed time 2 hours ago. Something keeps bugging her mind that she can't fall asleep.
After releasing another sigh, Y/N gave up. She grabbed another jacket and quietly exited the tent as the two other girls are already asleep. She also took the lamp before beginning her journey to no one knows where.
The girl quietly walked away from their campsite with mixed thoughts running in her head. Most of it is about what Jennie said a while ago during their activity and a slight thought of encountering wild bears and getting eaten by it. That certain thought sent shivers down her spine as she didn't want to die young. She thought about just going back to their tent but she'll just toss and turn the entire night.

"Oh well. If I encounter those bears, maybe they could give me some advices on what to do before they tear me apart." Y/N said and chuckled to herself as she sounded like a crazy person.
Walking deeper into the woods, Y/N finally caught sight of the most beautiful lake that she has ever seen. The moon illuminating the place and reflecting through the water makes the scenery look magical for Y/N. It's like something taken out of a fairytale.
Y/N put her extra jacket down the sand near the lake and sat on it. She started admiring the view that for a moment, Jennie's words were out of her head.
"How come this treasure is hidden on this wide forest?" The place seemed untouched. It's like mother nature was taking care of it so well that not a single flaw can be seen.
Y/N looked up at the moon. She has always admired the moon. For her, it's always the perfect companion whenever you need someone who would listen to you without any judgments. It's the one who would not make you feel alone when your mind is full of thoughts. And if there's someone who knows her every secret, it's the moon.
Y/N was so happy that she wandered the forest. She closed her eyes and felt how the air was blowing cooly on her skin. She let the lake water touch her toes. She felt the nature under her palms.
With eyes still closed, "I could sleep in here. It's so calming, so peaceful, so—" Y/N snapped her eyes wide open faster than Usain Bolt when she heard a snap of twigs not far away from her followed by a small squeak.
Y/N stood up and held the closest thing next to her, which was her jacket, as a weapon.
"Great. How can this save me?" Y/N thought as she shakily grabs the lamp and held her jacket tighter.
The terrified girl walked slowly to where the sound came from as she kept her senses on high alert.
"Is this the part where a monster would jump on me and rip my body off because I'm too curious on what that sound was?"
"No silly. Stop thinking too much and help me up in here." Y/N jumped a little when she heard Lisa's voice. She held her lamp towards her and there she saw her bestfriend sitting on the ground.
"Jesus Christ! You scared the living daylights out of me!" Y/N exclaimed but held her hand out for Lisa to take in which she gladly accepted.
"What on earth are you doing here?" Y/N asked as Lisa dust herself off. The frightened girl had her hand on her chest as her breathing started to get stable.
"I could ask you the same thing. It's like what," Lisa paused and looked at her phone. "12:05 am and you're here in the middle of the forest." Y/N just rolled her eyes at her bestfriend and started walking back to the spot she was in a while ago. She laid her jacket down again and sat on it. She patted the spot next to her and Lisa immediately sat beside her.
"But to answer your question, I saw you getting out of the tent and followed you here." Lisa smiled cheekily. And for the first time in hours, Y/N smiled so wide since Lisa came in at the right time. Sometimes, nothing beats having someone to admire the moon with.
Silence engulfed the two girls as they both looked out the beautiful lake in front of them. But Lisa broke the silence first.
"So, what's on your mind?"
Y/N creased her forehead. "What are you talking about?"
"Oh c'mon. I know you Y/N. I know you more than you know yourself so stop denying."
Y/N smiled. "You know me that well?"
Lisa hummed.
Y/N's smile was then replaced by sadness that is very evident on her eyes.
"Do you remember when I asked you if you have fallen in love with someone that you know you can't have? When we're at the cliff?"
Lisa nodded her head as she thought back on how she wanted to ask Y/N at the cliff if she has a chance with her but was too afraid to do so.
"I think there's a chance that I could have her now."
Lisa smiled but she was hurting for she knows that it's not her who holds Y/N's heart.
"Then why do you look upset?"
"Because I am afraid that she won't feel the same way I do. I'm afraid to lose her."
"But you said there's a possibility that you can have her now. Meaning, she might feel the same way."
"I know but" Y/N paused and took a deep breathe. "It's gonna be uncomfortable because we are not what we used to be."
"Is it Jennie eonnie?"
Y/N looked at Lisa in disbelief and horror. "You know?!"
"I told you, I know you more than you know yourself. And besides, I believe everyone knows aside from Jennie eonnie herself."
Y/N sighed for the nth time. She can't believe that she was that obvious and that everyone knows.
"What's the matter now, Y/N? Why is it gonna be uncomfortable?"
And after thinking hard if she should already tell Lisa, she decided to let her bestfriend know. She told her the story but left out sensitive parts because she believes that Lisa deserves to know for she is an important part of her and Jennie's life but at the same time, it's not her place to tell the whole story.
"Oh." That's the only thing that left Lisa's mouth after finding out the truth. She's still letting the new info sink on her head.
"Right. It's oh." Y/N chuckled bitterly.
After quite some time, Lisa recovered and held Y/N's hand in hers. "Why don't you just tell her? Come to think of it. Your situation got a whole lot better since it's no longer forbidden."
"I know. That's what's bugging me. When we talked about chances and when she said that it's only a one time thing, it made me think that maybe it's already the universe telling me that I should tell her how I truly feel about her. But then again, I'm scared that I'd lose her if she knew. I'm more scared that she won't want to be around me anymore than the possibility of her not feeling the same way."
Lisa smiled and held Y/N's hand tighter. "Just like what you said before, you won't know the outcome until you take the first step."
Y/N looked at the girl's beautiful eyes and let out a smile. "Thank you, Lisayah. Thank you for being the bestest friend that anyone could wish for."
"No need to thank me cause that's what friends are for." Lisa smiled. Just like what she usually does, she smiled through her pain.
