Hyukjae slowly walked down the back garden estate of the manor. He had thrown away the coffee; he didn't know what made him ask Donghae to bring him a fucking coffee for, he'd desperately wanted some alone time to think straight.
The grass were freshly cropped and it smelled like spring and there was a line of huge oak trees at the farthest end of the Maranzano estate.
Nostalgia coursed through his memory... distant memories of his father teaching him how to swim and row, play golf and simply loose himself to the serenity of the environment. Very un-mob like, thought Hyukjae and smiled.
Because when things get hectic, people should have a place to escape from reality...make this your happy place Jake... these words had never left him.
He continued walking towards a little outcrop, there was a huge stone marker on the ground.
Hyukjae looked at the marker and sat down on the soft grass. He missed his parents, although he tried hard everyday to forget the pain he felt that night. But he had never gotten over the habbit of coming here and talking to his parents as if they were still alive.
"How are you two today?" he asked softly taking a blade of grass to his hands.
"mom? dad? It's just that these days I'm not sure whether I'm in my right mind" he said looking ahead of him.
"And I tried hard to find the person who betrayed our family but seems like only his son is alive... and I don't know his name either. I know mom would tell me to give up and live my life at the present but dad, you would've wanted me to fight back..."
Hyukjae kept his hand on his forhead. "I feel so lost dad...so fucking lost"

He felt tears run down his face and he wipped them away. There's no point in crying, he should be strong, should be...
"I met someone" he said slowly, "he- I don't know how to describe him...when I talk to him, I don't feel so alone like I usually do...you guys think that he'll be a friend? because I'm tired of surrounding myself with twofaced bunch of shits"
Hyukjae took a deep breath, it was already getting dark, the sky had turned a into the colour of light violets. He turned and looked at the distance when he heard someone call out for him, when the figure got near, he realized that it was his new bodyguard.
'Did I do the right thing?' thought Hyukjae as he looked at Donghae come crashing toward him 'should I have left him to die that day?'
"Jaaaake!" called out Donghae and Hyukjae started, non of his employees ever adressed him like that.
Donghae came and sat down next to him, he was breathing heavily and Hyukjae gave him an indifferent look.
"I was searching for you" said Donghae gasping "everwhere"
Hyukjae snorted "so much for you being a bodyguard, you wouldn't even know if I got kidnapped away"
"I know, I'm sorry" said Donghae sheepishly. "I tried asking poeple where you were, but the thing is boss, there aren't many poeple around here, why?"
"You talk too much" said Hyukjae.
"Yes but why?"
Jake sighed, he didn't know why he couldn't swear out or snap at Donghae like he do with others, there was something in the way Donghae looked that made Hyukjae feel like he didn't deserve to be yelled at.
"Because I hate surrounding myself with security" said Jake tiredly "having the house choking with guards didn't help the day my parents died"

Donghae felt like Jake needed someone to talk out his worries, but he knew that it was not his place to ask personal stuff from his boss but,
'It was never my place...'
"How did they die?" he asked soflty and when Hyukjae didn't answer, Donghae looked at him.
"I was eight" said Jake suddenly; looking down on the ground. "We were having dinner and then the police came and surrounded the manor and and the guards only knew at the last moment" he said in an emotionless voice.
"My mother hid me in a freaking cupboard" said Hyukjae "can you believe it?"
Donghae shook his head slowly; willing him to continue.
"I heard a voice talking, saying that he'd always wanted to meet my father and end us for a long time, and before long, my father was dead and my mother died too; from the same pistol that killed my father, she was brave and she'd hidden my identity all along, no one ever knew the Maranzanos had a kid, for eight fucking years she protected me"
To his alarm, Donghae saw tears slidding down Hyukjae's face but he barely seemed aware of it.
"The police said that someone gave the loccation of our house, the motherfucker destroyed our family, but do you know what the best part is? He was my father's best friend, his name was Alexi"
Donghae felt his blood run cold, he'd never realized...
"That man never had the spunk to die before giving away secrets, he was spinless enough to betray us to the police than dying as a true Falcon; and I despise him" said Hyukjae viciously "I promised myself to find out his family and kill them all, I won't rest till I do"
Donghae felt devastated as he blindly stared back at Jake, his father had betrayed the Falcons just to save his own family but Donghae could understand the pain Jake must have gone through...
"He must've had a reason to give the game away like that" said Donghae lightly; feeling helpless to the core.
"What ever his damn reasons were, he was the reason why I lost my whole world, its him who made me take fucking desicions when I wasn't even fucking trained!!" yelled Hyukjae and Donghae blanched.
"I know he had a son" said Hyukjae savagely "I will make sure he realize that he's been living on borrowed time and you" he said, looking at Donghae; "can you help me do that?"
Donghae looked far into the distance, he'd been scared enough times in his life, but never like this. His heart pounded inside his chest and he could hardly breathe.
Hyukjae looked at the grave marker and sighed, "its not a fucking request Donghae" he said lightly,
"It's an order"

War of Seasons
Dorothea Atlin is the young, apathetic leader of the neutral territory of Sirpo, a chilly land hovering above the continuously warring factions of Sacer and Ghuria, whose devastating magics have ravaged their people and lands time and time again. Following a shocking attack and a cruel deception, Dorothea grows her conscience and takes up arms, using her self-destructive ability to manipulate the flow of time to ensure Sacer’s victory. Her growing understanding of war and the two factions is guided by Iree Nobelis, the determined and enthralling commander of Sacer’s forces, Ariana Kingfisher, a steely swordswoman of mixed Ghurian and Sacerian descent, and Rhys Tamlin, a kind but haunted soldier who goes to challenge Dorothea’s self-imposed celibacy and join her on a mutual journey of healing from the tragic legacies of the Atlin family and wars between the nations. Meanwhile, Dorothea’s only friend and deserter from the Sacerian military, Shark Olyen, returns to their homeland to face the family that disowned them and finds more than they bargained for in meeting Cerid Creed, a noble whose duty to his people clashes with his desires in romance and in life, much like Shark’s did long before. As their developing or preexisting loves and differing convictions on how to achieve peace create rifts between these major players, Dorothea experiences a personal revolution that leads her to fight for what she believes is right, no matter the cost. A slow-burn story that takes time setting up the psychology and motivations of characters for explosive payoff later down the line.
