"I would need you from 7 in the morning to around...3 in the afternoon. Give or take." I reply, tapping my pen against my desk.

"That sounds great. Yeah, I'd really like that." The man in front of me replies. Calvin, his name was.

"Perfect. Well...I'll shoot you an email concerning next steps. I look forward to working with you." I reply, standing up from my chair and going over to shake his hand.

"Awesome. I look forward to hearing from you." He says with excitement. I smile at his joy and walk him to the exit.

"See you soon." I reply as he leaves.

As soon as Calvin leaves, Shane enters my office with a cocked brow.

"New intern?" He asks.

"Always." I reply. "It's a pain, but hey...could be worse." I shrug.

"I'm proud of you, man. I'm glad you're doing all of your own interviews now. Makes it easier to find someone that you like. We clearly have very different taste in the ideal intern for you." He laughs. After three interns, I decided that I should probably take things into my own hands.

My therapist told me that I needed to put myself out there. I fear the worst possible outcome that is usually very far from coming true. After switching therapists, I have learned so much more about myself and how to live with my Aspergers. After years of the same therapist, it was time for a change. The change that has been made has been positive, nonetheless.

"I think Calvin might be the one that sticks." I reply.

"God, we can only hope. Do you know how much paperwork is required every time you hire on a new intern?" He laughs.

"I know. Thanks." I say with appreciation.

"Anyways, do you want to go to lunch with us?" He asks.

"Us?" I ask.

"Sofia." He says, as though it should have been obvious. "Or do you have a big lunch date planned with Karina?" He adds, wagging his brows suggestively.

I laugh at his amusement and shake my head.

"What?" He asks with a laugh.

"I think that's a dead end." I reply honestly.

"What? Seriously? Nooo, she's so cool." He groans.

"She is." I agree.

"So what's the problem?" He asks.

"I'm not really...romantically connected with her." I say honestly.

"You've been dating her for like a month." He points out.

"Exactly. She's cool and all...I don't know. I think I just like her better as a friend." I shrug.

"Does she know this?" He asks.

"Yes." I reply.

I felt bad when she came over and I broke things off with her. I would be lying if I said it didn't really affect me. I didn't want to hurt her feelings. I just wanted to be honest with her. She said we could still be friends, but I haven't heard from her since then.

"Did she take it well?" He asks.

"She cried." I admit. "I felt like an asshole. I didn't mean to make her cry." I tell him.

"Yeah, well...sometimes things just come out the wrong way. We never want to make girls cry." He replies. "Trust me. I've made a few cry accidentally. You just have to take the L and move on." He says.

"She said we could still be friends." I say hopefully.

"And has she spoken to you?" He asks.

"No." I sigh.

"Yeah, just give her space." He nods.

"Yeah, you're right." I nod.

"Well, if you aren't tagging along then I'm going to run and grab some food. Are you leaving soon or will you be here when I get back?" He asks.

"I'll still be here." I reply. "Have a good lunch, man."

"You too." He nods as he exits the office.

My mind goes to Karina at the mention of the short lived relationship. While I tried making things work, I just don't think I can get to where she was at as far as our relationship was concerned. We got along, but the romance was missing. The sexual attraction was missing, too. At least from my end. No matter how hard I tried, my dick wouldn't get up for her.

"Mr. Parker?" I hear.

"Hmm?" I hum, looking up at the small frame in the doorway.

"You have a call on line two. It's your mother. Again." She sighs.

"I'll take it. Thanks." I say with a small smile.

When she leaves, I answer the call quickly.

"Hello?" I ask.

"Grayson! Have you talked to your brother lately? You haven't answered my calls or texts today." She speaks quickly."

"I...yeah, no. I haven't talked to him in awhile. Sorry." I sigh, running my hand over my face.

"And you haven't answered my calls or texts today." She reminds me.

"Yeah, I know. Sorry, I'm just...you know...at work." I say in only a slightly annoyed tone. "Working."

"Yes, but you didn't answer so it gave me no other option than to just call your office." She says. "Anyways, I need for you to talk to your brother. He has someone that he wants you to meet!" She exclaims in excitement.

"Who? And for what?" I groan.

"Okay, don't freak out or anything. It's Heather's little sister!" She squeals.

"Jennifer?" I ask in confusion. "Why does he want for us to meet? We've already met." I remind her. "At the wedding...we talked down the aisle together. Remember? Sofia walked with her brother."

"Yeah, but....you haven't met her as a single bachelor. One who is...you know." She says suggestively.

"No, I don't. Please, just spit it out." I groan.

"You haven't met her as someone who could potentially be interested in her." She explains.

"I'm not interested, though." I tell her.

"Grayson." She sighs. "You need to get out and see someone. I need grandchildren!" She tells me.

"You have grandchildren." I remind her.

"Yes, but not from you." She adds.

"Mom." I groan. "I'm not even close to thinking about children. That's the last thing on my mind. I have everything that I need right now. I don't need anything else." I explain.

"You don't want kids?" She asks.

"Mom, this is not the conversation for right now." I groan.

"Why?" She asks.

"Because I'm at work!" I exclaim as though it should be obvious.

"Well, you don't even return my calls! Now, answer my question.

I let out a sigh in frustration. Unfortunately, I know there's no way that I'll be able to get out of this without having the conversation with her. Whether it's at work or not.

"No, Mom. I'm not interested in having children." I explain slowly.

"What?!" She exclaims. "Why not?"

"Because, Mother." I groan. "It's something that is not....appealing to me." I say.

"Why?" She asks. "You're great with kids!" She shrieks.

"Because those are not my children. I can give those kids back to their parents at the end of the day. I do not want to be a parent." I sigh.

"But they're so cute!" She groans. "You would make cute babies."

"Mom." I say. "I have to go." I tell her.

"At least tell me that you'll think about going on a date with Heather. She thinks you're cute!"

"Mom, she's practically family." I sigh.

"Nope. She isn't!" She reminds me.

"Mom." I groan.

"Promise me you'll at least think about it and I'll get off of the phone!" She says.

"Mom, no." I sigh. "I'm not interested in dating Heather."

"One date!" She tries convincing me.

"Mom...I'm hanging up the phone. I love you, I'll call you later." I sigh.

"No you won't!" She complains.

"I promise I will." I sigh. "Now, I need to go. I'm getting another call." I say.

"Fine. Call me after work!" She says.

"I will. Now, I've got to go. Talk to you later. Bye." I say, pulling away from the phone and hanging up before she can say anything else.

Ever since breaking up with Natalia, my entire family has been on my case about dating. Every single girl they see that looks slightly close to my age, they try setting me up with. I get why, but it just doesn't help. I don't really need anyone, nor do I want them.

I'm perfectly fine on my own.
