《Alpha Cravings》Chapter 6 Strange things are happening

"Phoebe, Phoebe, Phoebe are you there." I hear over the mind link as I slowly open my eyes.
"Dad" I answer back, realising I was still on the floor.
"Oh, thank God your mother and I have been trying to reach you for hours. Are you ok?"
"I, I think so" I answer.
Where are you?" He sounded worried.
"I'm at Damon's hotel. He bought me here last night to talk but we only argued so I kicked him out. But dad something strange happened......"
"Listen sweetie" dad cut in "we've been attacked by rogues your mum is hurt badly can you get back as soon as?" He anxiously asked.
"On my way dad. I will be in wolf form so have some clothes ready."
Worry takes hold of my mind like a plastic bag is covering my head, and I'm gasping for air. Sickness forms in the pit of my stomach as I panic, worried for my mother and hoping she will be alright. I got up off the floor, and notice that the scorch marks are still there. Last night really happened and it wasn't just a dream. I grab the door handle and close my eyes sucking in a deep breath to try and calm down a bit. "What the hell Phoebe, you said you was at the hotel" came my dad's frightened voice. I open my eyes and screamed. There kneeling down outside on the ground beside our house, over my mum was my dad. I screamed again, and started to panic "I..... I was, what the hell is happening to me?" I questioned.
"Calm down Hun" Soothed my dad "whatever is happing we will figure it out later. Hurry and heal your mum so I can get back to the fight." (Rogues are wolfs that have been banished from a pack for crimes they committed or have decided to leave on their own free will)
Looking over mums' injuries I winced at what I saw and quickly assessed on what I had to heal first. Deciding that I needed to heal the gash on her upper torso first that ran from her left shoulder to just above her right ribcage as there was a lot of major muscles and organs involved. I quickly dropped to the ground beside her and held my hands over the injured area. I felt the energy as it left my fingertips as the wound quickly healed over. Her second injury was a broken femur that broke through the skin. I got dad to push the bone back through the skin and once again I placed my hands over the injury and let the energy flow from my fingertips. Once I was sure the bone had healed back together, I closed her skin back over. Her wolf will take care of any smaller injuries that she has. Dad ordered a pack member to carry mum back to the pack's hospital for Dr Grey to check over and took off to join the fight. Quickly shifting I was right behind him.

We came across the rogues towards the beginning of the woods it didn't take me long to figure out that Jacob and Tessa were in trouble as ten wolves surrounded them so myself and dad raced over to help them. I grab hold of a scrawny looking grey wolf that was about to pounce on Tessa from behind aiming for his throat I tear out his jugular killing him instantly. My dad's wolf had a brown wolf clenched between his teeth that is wrapped around the wolfs neck. The wolf quickly submits to me dad and gets up and runs back into the forest. Two down eight to go. I bound over the top of a brown wolf as one had Jacob by the neck and as I bit into his side he quickly let Jacob go. "Thanks doll" Jacob quickly links me "I had it all covered." Ella swings her head in Jacobs direction mocking him by flashing her bright white teeth at him "you certainly did" I sniggered. As I quickly grabbed hold of the Brown wolf by the scruff of his neck and flinging it into a nearby tree.
My wolf lifts her head to look around as she hears the howl of her mate's wolf. She spots him 200 yards away bleeding from his front paw and the side of his head. Feeling torn as she wanted to go to him but also knowing she couldn't leave her friends. She lifts her snout in the air and howls, her howl is one filled with sorrow.
I grab another wolf tearing that one to pieces as dad badly injures another. I hear bones crushing as Tessa takes down a dirty light grey wolf. As soon as we finished with the other three Ella bounds away to her Edmunds side as much as I had tried to stop her. She licks his snout then licks the blood from the side of his head until the wound closes. Once that was healed she drops her head and licks his front paw to heal that wound to. Edmund affectionately rubs his body against hers marking her with his scent and licks the top of her head in appreciation. For just a moment he rests his head on top of ours. I hear in my head "I'm sorry Phoebe, I love you" As Damon links me. Ella lets out a small whimper as I link back "but is it enough?" we ran off, away from them, as hoots and shouts of joy were heard as the last of the rogues ran off into the woods with their tails between their legs. We never lost anyone thankfully just a few that were injured. Feeling exhausted I head back home.

"I'm telling you mum fire came out of fingertips." I say pacing back and forth in front of the couch where mum was after getting home from the hospital, later that day. "Well, you are a white wolf" she responds "but mum, what if it's to do with something else" I say feeling frustrated. "No! I just think it's all the stress you and Ella have been under surrounding Damon. I'm sure Ella will settle down soon."
"But mum" I yell "how did I get here from Damon's hotel like I did." I heard the front door open and knew from the scent of oranges that it was my father. Coming into the lounge room and giving mum a quick kiss on her forehead he turned to me. "I've been thinking about that and I honestly think it's your wolf." Before he could say any more, I interrupted him "but dad" I yell starting to feel really irritated "fire came out of my fingers as well! why won't you both listen to what I have got to say?"
"Because we both think that it is your wolf." dad says while sitting at the bottom of the couch and putting mums' feet in his lap rubbing them. Throwing my hands up in defeat, I just agree with them and head to the kitchen to prepare dinner. Once dinner was finished, I headed up stairs to my room.
Hopping into the hot shower I let the water sooth my aching body. After dressing in a pair of night shorts and tank top I crawl into bed. Damon was the last thing I thought of before sleep claimed me.
I watched in silence as she emerged from the darkness of the forest glancing around to make sure nobody had seen her. I watched on as she ran for the back entrance of the pack house entering in through the maid's entrance and into safety. I will be sure to keep my eye on her closely from now on I thought as I finished running the perimeter of our territory.

Wildling
Blurb: Silas--a scavenger living off the ruins of humanity--has spent his entire life fighting tooth and nail to provide for himself and his crew. But when a scavenging run goes awry and he's snatched up by an android patrol, he finds himself thrown into a cage and priced to sell as a pet. And when a suitor comes calling, he fears the worst: that he'll be turned into a Domestic, a human lapdog brainwashed into total obedience. Instead, he discovers an equally disturbing truth: that the creatures who stole his world have created a videogame the likes of which Earth has never seen; a sprawling, game-like theme park where humans are the Avatars and androids are the players who control them. And to make matters worse, his android guide is as hopeless as they come, having gotten all of her previous Avatars killed in record time. So if Silas wants to regain his freedom, he'll not only have to fight his way through a world that was specifically designed to murder him in brutal fashion--he'll also have to convince his android guide that he should be the one calling the shots. FAQS: Q: Who are you, handsome stranger? A: I'm Kyle Kirrin, the author of Shadeslinger, book 1 of The Ripple System, published by Portal Books, and I write crunchy LitRPG. Q: What is Wildling? And is it complete? A: Wildling is a crunchy LitRPG mash up of Fantasy and Science Fiction. And yup, Wildling is already complete at 64 chapters, or about 120,000 thousand words. You're looking at something like a third draft here--it's fairly polished, but it hasn't been picked over by a copy editor yet nor has my developmental editor seen it. Q: Upload schedule? A: 5 initial chapters today (2/15/2021) and one chapter a day for the next month. After that I'll probably slow down to 2 or 3 chapters a week until the story is complete. Q: How crunchy is it? A: It's pretty crunchy. I'd put it on the same tier as Ascend/The Land/RSSG, but it might be a bit crunchier than those three? Q: Is this the first book in a series or a web novel or what? And what are your plans for it? A: It's currently a standalone with series potential. Full disclosure: this story may head the way of my publisher eventually, but will be available on RR for quite a while no matter what. Likely several months after it's complete with plenty of warning before/if it's taken down. Q: What kind of build does the MC create? A: Sword and board! Q: Crafting? A: Plenty! Crafting isn't as center stage as it is in The Way of the Shaman, but it's close. Q: Base building? A: Two fully separate, distinct bases, both of which play a major role in the story. Q: VRMMO? Portal? Reincarnation or what? A: This one's a bit tricky. Basically an advanced race has created a game-like world that closely resembles a theme park. Think Westworld but with copious amounts of loot. And the MC has to fight his way through that to earn his freedom. Q: Permadeath? A: Nope! The MC gets 3 lives to play through the entirety of the game world, and death is extremely punishing, but not fatal. Q: Harem? Or romance? A: No and no. Q: Cursing? Blood? A: Quite a bit of cursing, yeah. There's blood, too, but it's not a gory book by any means. Q: How can I support? A: Instead of a Patreon/donations etc, I'd ask that you consider giving my debut LitRPG Shadeslinger a chance. It's free on Kindle Unlimited and the audio is already out narrated by Travis Baldree. It's an epic fantasy VRMMO where the main character gets 3 days of exclusive access to a new game plus a snarky, talking axe to guide him through it in exchange for agreeing to become the target of a serverwide manhunt once the Head Start period ends. Q: How's it similar to Wildling? And how's it different? A. The crunch level is very similar, but Shadeslinger is a much lighter, epic fantasy take on the genre. It's also VRMMO, but without any real world components aside from the first chapter. The MC is very different--he comes off as a bit of a jerk early on and can take a bit to warm up to, especially before his backstory is revealed--but he's also got a talking axe that constantly puts him in his place. Shadeslinger's a much more humorous story in general, and it's a great deal more polished as well. Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy Wildling!
