《SimpleMinded》I Washed Her Hugged Away.

"Niall Andrews?" I stand up and give Jane a tight smile, "Hey, Jane. It's been a while."
Before me and Jada started having sex on a regular, I was dating Jane, we were dating since our junior year in high school and I broke up with a year or two after we graduated. She gives me a hug and I warily give her a hug back. The reason I don't want to see Jane again is that she's not all the way there. If you know what I mean.
When I broke up with her, she took it way worse than I expected. She crashed my car, she trashed my house, she trashed my office, and she threatened Brit. During all of that, she begged me to take her back.
I sit down and she sits down beside me, "I didn't know you had kids. How many?" I clear my throat and look back over at the swings, "I don't have any kids." She brushes her hair out of her face, "Oh, so you're just sitting here then?"
I shrug my right shoulder, "You can say that." She hits my arm and shows me a smile, "I can't believe it's really you. I've missed you. That's my son over there, the one by the woman on the swings." She points to a young boy on a swing beside Haven.
I stand up and clear my throat for the second time in under thirty seconds, "It was nice seeing you again." She waves as I walk off, "Wait, let me give you my number. We can hang out sometime." She takes out a piece of paper and writes her number down. She hands me the paper and I put it in my pocket.
I look down to make sure Bean is beside me as I walk over to the swings. "Don't worry, I'm not following you. I'm just going to push my son." I let out a humorless laugh and inwardly groan to myself. I wish I was in my bed with an annoying monkey stealing snacks.
"You want me to push you?" I ask Haven as I walk up to her, "Push?" I nod my head and laugh, "Yes, push. You can be up high like them if I push. All you have to do is swing your legs back and forth." I get behind her and lightly push her. Rafiki runs and jumps on her lap, "You have a puppy and a monkey?"
I look at Jane and nod my head, "Yeah, we only went to get us a puppy, but I saw him and decided to get him also."
"How long have y'all been dating?" All her questions are really starting to irritate me. How many questions has she even asked? She probably only asked me three, but it seems like she asked me over twenty questions. "No, I'm taking care of her."
I push Haven a little harder, so she can go up higher. She laughs as she goes up higher. Suddenly she stops herself and gets off. She points at the swing and looks at me, "Your turn." I shake my head and laugh, "Uh-uh. I'm too big for you to be pushing me."

Of course, she starts pouting and I look around and notice a swing for two. "Come on, let's get on the tire swing. I can get up there with you." She looks behind her to see what a tire swing is and grab my hand. She pulls me towards the tire swing and I laugh, "Why didn't you ask for help when you were on the slide?"
We get on the tire swing and I rock back and forth to get us moving. "You get tired of me. I wanted to do something without bothering you." I poke her side and she squeals, "I'm never tired of you, so stop thinking that." She puts her forehead on mine and laughs, "Can we do something?"
I move my forehead against hers and smile, "What do you want to do?" She bites her lip and my eyes widen. Please don't tell me she wants to kiss me. I don't think I would be able to reject her, because I'm too scared I might hurt her feelings. "I want to make homemade pizza."
My heart slows down, "Pizza? You want to make homemade pizza?" She moves away from me and nods her head with a smile, "Yes." I can't believe I thought she would want to kiss me. Why would I think that?
"You don't want to?" I shake my head and laugh, "No, I do. We have to go to the store first." She gets off the swing and we walk to the car, "What makes you want to make homemade pizza?" Before she could answer Jane comes out of nowhere. Why can't she just get the hint that I don't want anything to do with her?
Haven stands beside me and looks at Jane, "I forgot to tell you sorry for all those things I did to you in the past. I don't know what came over me, I just thought we were in love and nothing could come between us. Can we just look past that?" I nod my head and show her a tight smile, "Yeah, I'm over it anyway."
She gives me a hug and Haven walks off with Bean in her arms and Rafiki on her right shoulder. "How about we hang out one day?" Haven stops walking and looks at me, "No. He only hangs with me." Jane unwrap her arms from around me and look at Haven, "I'm sorry, what did you say?" Jane shows Haven a small smile, "You can't hang with him."
Jane clears her throat, "Why is that?" Haven looks at me and then storms off, "Haven!" I follow behind her and Jane grabs my arm. I groan in frustration, "Listen, I don't want to hang out with you." I walk away without a second glance.
Haven gets in the car and sits in the back. "Haven. What's wrong? Why are you upset?" She turns her head away from me and I sigh. I get in the back seat with her, "Do you want to talk about it?" She shakes her head and I sigh, "I'm going to give you time. You'll have to tell me sooner or later."

I get out and walk to the driver side. I already know what could be the problem, but I want to hear it out of her mouth. "I don't want pizza anymore." I look at Haven through the rearview mirror and see that she is looking out the window, "Oh well, that's what we're eating for dinner tonight."
The pout on her lips goes deeper and I laugh to myself. We arrive at the store and we walk in through the entrance. "Make sure you hold Bean the entire time. I don't want her to run off and someone runs off with her." I say to Haven as we walk down an aisle.
She is still giving me the silent treatment. Everybody is staring at me because I have a monkey on my shoulder. "Do you want pepperoni or something else as your topping?" I look at Haven and she shrugs her shoulders and I sigh, "Pepperoni it is." It takes us thirty minutes to get the ingredients and check out.
We pull up to the house and Haven quickly gets out the car. As soon as I unlock the door she runs upstairs. I put the bags in the kitchen and sigh. "I'll go up there in five minutes." I take everything out the bags and also some extra stuff I would need for the pizza.
Five minutes later I am walking upstairs to Haven's room. I walk in and see tears down her face. My eyes widen and I quickly walk over to her. She tries to wipe her tears away and pull her hands away from her face, "Why are crying? What's wrong?" She shakes her head as more tears slide down her face, "Haven, tell me. Why are you crying?"
"I can't help unless you tell me what's wrong." She takes her hands out of my grasp and scoots away from me. "You're going to get rid of me." I shake my head, "No, I'm not. Calm down and just tell me what's wrong."
She takes a deep breath and sniffs, "Everyone wants to take you away from me." I arch my eyebrow, "Who's trying to take me away from you?" Her tears continued to fall, "The one who used to come here all the time and the one who hugged you earlier. I'm scared. I-I don't want you to get rid of me." She starts crying harder as she pulls her knees to her chest.
"Haven, no one is going to take me away from you and I'm not going to get rid of you." She pulls at her shirt and I notice that she change into one of my shirts and took her pants off, "But people keep coming to you and you said in the future I should do things with other people. I don't want to be with anybody, but you."
I hold my arms out and she shakes her head, "No, that other woman hugged you." I drop my arms and sigh, I stand up and pick her up bridal style. I carry her to the bathroom and turn the shower on. I sit her on the counter top and she looks at me with teary eyes. I make sure the water is warm and step in with all of my clothes on.
"I'm rinsing her off of me." I say as the water run down my clothed body. "Haven, nobody is going to take me away from you. Even if they try, I will still be here and I will never send you back to that place. Do you understand? Now, can I get my hug?"
She walks up to me and I quickly stretch my arms out, "Wait! I'm wet!" She walks in the shower and gives me hug. She looks up at me and laughs. I brush her wet hair out of her face and hug her back, "Now we're both wet." I say with a smile on my face, "I'm the only one who can hug you."
I laugh as I push my hair out of my face, "I do have to hug my mom and my sister. Can I at least hug them?" She furrows her eyebrows and I laugh even harder, "You can." I turn the shower off and I look at our reflection in the mirror. "We look like wet dogs. Take a quick shower and then we can make our pizzas."
She starts hiccuping and I laugh, "All that crying made you get the hiccups." I walk to my room to take a quick shower. I put some shorts on and then a tank top on. Haven walks in as soon as I walk out of the bathroom.
"Need a new shirt?" She nods her head and I dig through my drawer. I hand her a blue long sleeve shirt. She puts it on and it goes way past her butt and the sleeves are almost at her knees. "Too big." I scoff and roll my eyes, "That never stopped you before."
I notice a sadden look on her face, "What's wrong?" She shakes her head and I give her a warning look, "Tell me what's wrong." She plays with the sleeve of her shirt, "I'm sorry for crying, I didn't mean to annoy you." I sit down on the floor and I pat the spot in front of me.
She sits on her knees, "It's better for you to cry than hold it in. When you first got here, you never showed me any type of emotion other than fear, but today you showed me sadness. You doing that tells me that your opening up to me more. You opening up makes me happy." Her face shines to the point that she could light this entire room up after she heard my last sentence, "I make you happy?!"
She asks with excitement lacing in her voice, "Yes, you make me happy." She lunges at me and hugs my neck, "I like you!" I laugh as I try to run my fingers through her curly hair, "I like you too." I fall back and she squeals, "I'm happy too, just like you!"
She kisses my cheek and my eyes widen. That's the second time she's done that.
