Inaya's POV
"W-what are you doing here?"
Dominic chuckles out of amusement. "Who's house is this?"
He's right. That was a dumb question.
There's silence lingering between us for a few, long seconds.
"No questions?" He raises a brow.
I shake my head no. It doesn't matter what ends up happening to me now. I'll end up dead, anyways.
Suddenly, his mouth twists into a dark smile as he takes steps towards me.
I lied.
It does matter what happens to me. I'm scared out of my mind of what he'll do to me while I'm alive.
The closer he gets, the more steps I take backwards until my back hits the wall.
Of course, I'll end up helpless against a wall with nowhere to go.
Dominic now standing so close to me that there's only about an inch of space left in between us.
My heart is racing out of my chest. My hands slumped to my side, are slightly shaking out of panic.
"You gave me one whole sleepless night, amore mìo. I didn't work this hard to get to where I am, only to have a bitch like you ruin it overnight." His voice is dangerously low.
He grabs my arm and twists it painfully behind my back.
He pulls me up against his chest, his lips inches away from mine. "I want to give you hundreds of sleepless nights with only your fear of me keeping you awake."
"I-I'm s-sorry. I swear I didn't see anything." My voice trembles as it betrays me.
"It doesn't fucking matter. You were there that night and that makes you a liability, a weakness. And from what I heard, you didn't keep the information to yourself, now did you?"
My eyes widen in fear and tears quickly collect in them.
How does he know... Cat and Mehar...
"I... I didn—"
"Don't fucking lie to me." His voice is a sharp growl.
"Just kill me now. Get it over with but don't touch anyone else I love. They don't know anything! Please." I plead.

"Oh, don't worry." He smirks in the most evil way. "Your wish is my command but not this easily, not till I have some fun."
"I promise no one knows any details, please..." I beg him not to hurt Caterina or Mehar.
He slams my wrists against the wall with one painful blow, as I whimper out helplessly.
"This altruistic façade won't work on me, amore mìo." His voice is a low growl.
"H-how long?" I ask.
"How long what?" He sounds irritated.
"How long do I have?" It's almost like asking a doctor after you find out you have an illness but for some reason, this feels worst.
"That's for me to decide and for you to find out but don't expect a lengthy stay." He scoffs.
He lets go of me and leaves the room, shutting the door loudly.
I drop to the floor from feeling so weak and helpless. I say that I don't care but I do, I care what happens to me.
I'm afraid.
My mind goes into a sort of shut down where it tries focusing on anything but the life threatening problem.
I sit on the floor and gaze around the room. The room itself is an absolute beauty.
The theme is a grey monochromatic, making it look sleek and classy. The floor is a dark, chocolate brown hardwood floor that's shining as if it was just installed. The room's complete with a large flat screen tv that is hanging above the fireplace.
The fireplace would be perfect if I live long enough to be alive till cold winter.
I would take a shower but with no extra clothes...
On cue, there's a knock at the door.
My heart drops as I jolt up to my feet.
Is Dominic back?
But he wouldn't knock.
"C-come in." I say.
Nick peeks his head through the door, "Hey, I brought you some clothes to change into."
I sigh out of relief.
"You look like you just saw a ghost." He raises a brow.

I've seen things worst than ghosts, by this point.
"I thought you were your brother." I admit.
"My brother wouldn't knock." He chuckles.
"I figured." I giggle in relief that he can be lighthearted.
I reach out and take the clothes. I hold some of the pieces up to look at and I feel extremely guilty for what I'm about to say. "Thank you so much for even thinking about giving me extra clothes... but I can't possibly wear these."
"What's wrong with them? You don't like the colours?" He frowns.
"I need clothes that are more... covering." I stare at the small articles of clothing in my hands.
Though the pants are comfortable sweats and leggings, the tops he gave me are tank tops, crop tops, etc.
They are nothing I could wear in a house full of who knows how many unknown, dangerous men.
Not that my clothes would stop them from doing anything. But I couldn't possibly wear these.
"Oh, my bad! I hadn't thought about that. I'll bring in something else. Is the robe okay for now?" He asks.
I nod. "Thank you so much! I really appreciate the effort."
"It's absolutely no problem. You're a likeable person." He winks, making my heart flutter slightly. "I'll be back tomorrow with something more suitable."
"I really cannot thank you enough." I smile weakly.
"You need to stop. You can't keep thanking people like us or we'll get too used to it." He laughs.
I wave at him as he leaves and closes the door behind him.
I make my way to the washroom and I was almost too afraid to walk in because of how much luxury I was hit in the face with the second I opened the doors.
"This looks like a bathroom for a princess." I gaze at how beautifully designed it is.
I stare at the large bathtub, "A nice, warm bath would make my problems disappear for a few minutes."
And that's exactly what I do.
My worries, fears and troubles all disappears for the the 15 minutes. I was even able to wind down and take a breather once I huddled under the warmth of the blanket.
It honestly feels like paradise whenever I slip under a nice warm blanket after a shower or a bath. It's like that feeling where I never want to leave the warmth of the bed.
Just as I was slipping into deeper thoughts, I hadn't realized but I drifted off to sleep.
A in humane loud thud, not only jolts me awake without my soul, but I somehow managed to get on my feet and grab my scarf that I left at the foot of the bed.
My heart's pounding from being awaken so suddenly that it almost felt like a heart attack.
There's a knock at my door. Again, I know it's not Dominic because he's just barge in.
"Who is it?"
"Nicholas Sir has asked me to deliver this bag to you, Miss." a female voice says from the other side.
I quickly walk over to the door and open it. "Please, come in!"
She smiles at me politely and nods her head. She looks like a woman in her late 40s, yet someone who takes really good care of her physical appearance. She looks like she's from a wealthy background. But she's dressed in caretaker clothes so maybe she cares for the home?
She puts down two bags and I thank her.
"Welcome to Mr. Belcastro's home. My name is Angela and I come by the house a few days per week to keep the house in good shape." She smiles sweetly.
"Hi! It's really nice to meet you. I'm Inaya!"
Her smile turns into a thin, straight line. "Ah, so you're the famous princess who shot my husband."
Oh.

The Stormcrow Cycle
Once a powerful and lauded witch, Ba'an salu-Ba'an now lives alone in a cave in the desert, waiting to die. When she rescues an outlander from certain death she becomes embroiled in a deadly game of politics and empire, of heart and soul, but worst of all--of hope and love and a chance at a peaceful future. Can a disgraced witch find a reason to live her life again--and if so, what price must she pay? The Stormcrow Cycle is a trilogy comprising of The Exile, The Lion, and Abomination. Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!
