saying goodbye. She didn't get to say goodbye to Merle, or her mother, and in a way, it was like she didn't get to say goodbye to Dale either. She experienced death before, Amy, Jim, Otis, Merle. But this was different. This was Dale, the kind old man who let Addy wear his bucket hat when they sat on top his RV together and the sun was shining.
"Here, take my hat." Dale nodded. The man took off his bucket hat and messily placed it on the young girl's head.
Addy wanted to argue that he needed it, but he quickly waved her off as if it was nothing,
"Ah, don't worry. I'm sure your father wouldn't want you getting burnt."
His words echoed in Addy's head as Rick started his eulogy,
"Dale could - could get under your skin. He sure got under mine. Because he wasn't afraid to say exactly what he thought, how he felt. That kind of honesty is rare - and brave."
As usual, the Dixon's were standing further away from the others. Daryl especially had a nasty habit of distancing himself from them, but he was glad his daughter was seemingly more social than him.
"Whenever I'd make a decision, I'd look at Dale. He'd be lookin' back at me with that look he had. We've all seen it one time or another. I couldn't always read him, but he could read us. He saw people for who they were. He knew things about us - the truth, who we really are. In the end, he was talkin' about losing our humanity. He said this group is broken. The best way to honour him is to un-break it, set aside our differences and pull together, stop feelin' sorry for ourselves, take control of our lives, our future. We're not broken. We're gonna prove him wrong. From now on, we're gonna do it his way. That is how we honour Dale."
...............................................................
Randall was missing.
Rick, Shane, Daryl and Glenn had gone to look for the boy out in the woods. Shane had come running into camp with a bloody nose yapping about how Randall had slipped the cuffs, but something just didn't sit right with Addy - nothing had been right since Shane came back from that run without Otis.
The girl picked at a loose string on her blue zip-up hoodie. Addy hadn't - wouldn't - admit to herself that she was scared. But she was. The world was getting more dangerous and scary by the minute and Addy was weak and vulnerable.
"I'm going after them." Andrea shook her head and spoke, causing Addy to be snapped out of her thoughts.
"Don't, they could be anywhere. And if Randall comes back we're gonna need you here." Lori had a point. Mostly everyone up at the house barely knew how to defend themselves.

All of a sudden, a floorboard creaked and Daryl and Glenn walked in. A relived smile made it's way onto Addy's face and she got up off of the couch and wrapped her arms around her father's waist.
"Rick and Shane ain't back?" Daryl asked as he rubbed his daughter's shoulder. The man wasn't one for public affection, but he could make an exception for his daughter.
"No." Lori frowned.
"We heard a shot."
"Maybe they found Randall?" The brunette woman suggested.
"We found him." Daryl nodded.
"Is he back in the shed?" Patrica asked. Apart from when she was stitching T-Dog's arm Addy didn't think she had ever heard the blonde woman speak.
"He's a Walker."
Her father's words sent a chill down the girl's spine and she pushed herself closer into his chest.
"Did you find the Walker that bit him?" Hershel asked.
"No, the weird thing is he wasn't bit." Glenn spoke up from his place beside Daryl.
"His neck was broke." Daryl finished. Another chill darted down the girl's spine.
"So he fought back?" Patrica assumed.
"The thing is Shane and Randall's tracks were right on top of each other. And Shane ain't no tracker, so he didn't come up behind him. No, they were together."
Addy blinked and the bad feeling she had when the men left to find Randall came back. Shane did have something to do with it.
"Would you please get get back out there and find Rick and Shane, and find out what an earth is going on." Lori moved so she was closer the the Dixon's and placed a hand on Addy's upper arm.
"You got it." Daryl nodded at Addy before he walked away, Glenn not far behind. As much as Addy didn't like the thought of the two going back out into the night, she knew they had to look for the others.
"Thank you." Lori whispered to the duo as they exited the farmhouse, however, Andrea followed them.
Addy stared at the hundreds of figures in front of her. Her heart was pounding as she gripped her father's jacket. She had never seen a herd as big as this, and she never wanted to.
"Patricia, kill the lights." Hershel whispered to the woman. Patrica quickly obeyed and rushed inside to switch off every light that was on.
"I'll get the guns." Andrea followed after the other blonde woman.
"Maybe they're just passing like the herd on the highway, should we just go inside?" Glenn suggested.
"Not unless there's a tunnel downstairs I don't know about. Herd that size will rip the house down."
Addy whimpered and gripped Daryl's jacket tighter as tears stung her blue eyes. She was scared - very scared. All she wanted was for everything to go back to the way it was, then everything would be okay.

But that wasn't possible, and nothing would be okay as long as they were on that damned farm.
"Carl's gone." Lori rushed out onto the porch in a state of panic. Addys heart dropped.
"What?" Daryl turned his head to look at the brunette woman.
"He - he was upstairs, I can't find him anymore."
"Maybe he's hiding?" Glenn suggested.
"He's supposed to be upstairs - I'm not leaving without my boy."
"We're not," Carol spoke up, placing a hand on Lori's arm comfortingly, "We're - we're gonna look again. We're gonna find him."
The two women rushed off into the house to look for Carl as Andrea came out with the bag of guns and began handing them out.
"Maggie -." Glenn started when he saw the woman picked up a shotgun.
"You grow up country, you pick up a thing or two." She answered swiftly as she cocked it.
"I got the number, it's no use." Daryl said.
"You can go if you want." Hershel suddenly said as he cocked his gun.
"You're gonna take 'em all on?" Addy was surprised at how calm her father was about the whole situation.
"We have guns, we have cars."
"Kill as many as we can," Andrea agreed, "Then use the cars to lead the rest of them off the farm."
Addy knew that would never work - there was simply too many of them.
"Are you serious?" Daryl looked from Andrea to Hershel.
"This is my farm. I'll die here." Addy admired Hershel's bravery - if she was in his shoes she wouldn't be able to think, let alone act.
"Addy," A voice suddenly said, making the girl jump slightly, "You stay with Carol, be safe."
"Daddy.." The young girl trailed off. She knew Daryl had to go and fight, he was the strongest one of them on the porch.
"I'll be fine, go inside. All right," Daryl nodded when he knew his daughter was safe inside, "It's a good a night as any."
......................................................
Addy watched as the group piled into their vehicles and stopped in front of the burning barn. There was movement from beside her,
"The barns on fire." Beth informed Patrica, who placed her hands on Addy's shoulders and peered out the window,
"They're headed for it. Maybe Rick set it to draw 'em in."
Lori ran down the stairs,
"I can't find him anywhere."
"So maybe he snuck outside." Carol came after her. Addy didn't think the Grimes boy was capable of pulling off a stunt like that but, hey, you never know.
"What do I do!" The brunette panicked.
"He was here. He must have run off maybe looking for Rick or just went after Randall himself." Carol said tearfully.
"Maybe he set the fire."
"Hershel! Hershel it's time to go!" Lori screamed at the older man over the gunfire and groans, however he was stubborn and stayed put picking off as many walkers as he could.
"Hershel? Hershel!" Lori called to him one last time before deciding it was too late. She ushered the others off the porch as the man kept firing.
Carol grabbed Addy's hand. They were barely off the porch when two screams rang out.
Addy whipped her head around to see a Walker taking a bite of Patricia's neck as she screamed in pain and fear. Lori rushed over to the two blondes and tried to pry Beth away, but Patrica had a death grip on the young girl. Thankfully, the brunette managed to pull her away just in time as the other woman was dragged to the floor by the group of monsters.
However, Carol and Addy had kept running and found themselves at a dead end with walkers surrounding them.
Addy sobbed and clutched onto carols cardigan as the woman picked up a piece of scrap metal in an attempt to defend herself and the young girl. Carol pushed Addy behind her and backed up as the walkers started to gain on them.
However, a shot rang out and a Walker fell limp on the ground in front of them to reveal Andrea. Addy barely got to sigh in relief before another monster came up behind the blonde woman. Andrea managed to fire a round into it's head but went down to the ground with it.
As much as she hated it the thought, Carol decided it was too late to save Andrea and ran off into the night with Addy, only for them to be cornered again. The two cried out in fear.
Then Addy heard it.
The rumble her father's motorcycle.
Addy would have smiled or laughed in relief but now wasn't the time. They had to get out of there as soon as possible.
Carol climbed on behind and Daryl pulled Addy so she was sat in front of him, and with both the girls safe, Daryl drove off to meet the others.

The Pugilist
Vincent Roy Salazar has never been your common folk. He climbed any mountain he found in front of him. From a bright young student to an accomplished professor, his life can be described as a continuous race to the top of his chosen fields. Patriarch of a loving family, proud father of three already grown siblings, Roy realizes that his life is the perfect picture of what the average man strives for, and for that he is truly grateful. But happiness is a difficult-to-reach goal, and as he lies in a pool of his own blood, his fist cracked, a young lady crying while cradling his head, he remembers what really gave sense to his youth. Pure Unadulterated Violence The Pugilist wants to be a different take on isekai shenanigans. What would happen if instead of a moronic idiot, a depressed high schooler, or a wannabe hero the one to get his do-over is a fully grown man that has already seen what life has to offer in full? Someone who conformed himself to society, but has always craved something different? In a journey of self-discovery, academy building, god-slaying, and absolutely no harem we follow someone driven by logic, experience, and a smokey goal: to fuck shit up, have fun while doing so, and maybe resume his career as a professor for those strange, magic-wielding, unstable youths that seems to never get enough of his presence. Guys, a few notes, first of all, this is my first time writing long-form fiction. I have a background in psychology, and my main income comes from writing dreary financial articles on SEO blogs. But after a bad break-up, and finding myself falling asleep only while thinking of deus ex machina for stories on this site (and for APGTE) I decided to try my hand at this web series thingy. I'm confident in my grammar, but that's it. Everything else will be a first time, and as such any constructive criticism is encouraged and gratefully accepted. Now, on the story. Romance will be introduced once my little heart is mended, if you are scared of LGBT you may be turned off by the fact that I plan to have no taboo of any kind in my universe, but I won't ever write detailed sex scenes for any characters so don't worry too much. The litRPG part is very light and will take place later in the novel, but it's a key component nonetheless, for world-building and storyline reasons. I already have everything big planned out, so I won't drop it outta nowhere, and I hope you won't find too many flaws in how things pan out. I plan to make The Pugilist an interactive story, with secondary characters created by my audience and introduced after tweaks and careful planning. The main reason I'm writing this is that I want to build a community for myself in this time of isolation. I discovered that exercising, playing the piano or video games means jack-shit when you are utterly miserable, so I hope to give some value to my readers in exchange for praise, fame, money, and companionship. I give full props to anyone who has read this whole mess of a synopsis: I hope to not disappoint too much, now let's write some more steaming garbage that will be in dire need of editing later on.
