Another day to find out what happens between reader-chan and the serious studious Tenya! Enjoy!
~
It was only about 3pm, and you both thought it would be nice to walk around the house grounds as it was a nice day outside.
"Make sure to put on sunscreen, and we have to reapply every hour or so." he said in a concerned tone as he sprayed a bit on his arms rubbing them in.
You smiled and nodded, waiting for him to finish as you slipped into your comfy sneakers. You managed a glance back at him as he removed his glasses to put the spray on his face.
He was quite the old fashioned handsome man when you really summed up his looks. His face seemed to always be in a permanent slight frown of neutrality, but you realized he was almost always thinking of something to make things easier or more interesting and it was merely his thinking face.
"You look cute without your glasses." you teased grabbing the sunscreen as you began to spray your arms.
"O-oh! Well-" he blushed and turned his back to you as he placed them back on his nose.
Adorable.
"I would consider contacts but my eyes have a tendency to get irritated easily. I have many spares..." he tried to think of something to say, but the bold statement was surprising to him.
"You look handsome with them too- in a scholarly way." you stepped up to him giving a smile, he was at least a head or more taller than you. He couldn't think of what else to say, so you surprised him with a spray to his neck.
"H-!" he grunted freezing and slapping his hand on his neck at the damp spot.
You laughed again and set the bottle down.
"You missed a spot, lets go." you hummed heading outside.
He stared for a little before stepping forward, slipping the bottle in his back pocket before you two were off.
He needed a blush repellent spray.
You felt a warm breeze rustle your hair as the two of you walked side by side down a nicely dusted path- forest on either side.
"So... if you weren't a hero.. what would you like to be?" You asked curiously, inching a little closer to his side.
He hm'd thoughtfully and grabbed his chin, looking up.
"That's an interesting question, I've wanted to be a hero like my elder brother early into my childhood... but if I had to choose... maybe... a professor... or a police officer. Something that helps the community maintain peace." He said with a nod to himself, seeming pleased with his answer.
You smiled, looking at him as your hand tingled. You wanted to hold his hand, but maybe it was too early- or it would seem childish.
You found his answer to be predictable- but very fitting. He still had a drive to protect people in some way.
"Professor Iida hm... I can definitely see that..." you smiled- but the smile was beginning to widen as you thought teasingly.
"I wonder what you'd do to a naughty student that doesn't do well on her tests..." you bit your lip and looked at him, the Cheshire grin still present as he looked seriously at the ground, his ears turning dark red.

"Well.... I suppose some form of punishment or tutoring would be arranged... it depends though..." he mumbled softly, averting his eyes to the side.
Now you blushed-
Damn... now he was going along with your teasing... he had a secret side to him- and you were all too curious... the tingling in your chest returned, and you realized how you two were truly alone in this forest.
It had been some time since you had had a proper boyfriend... you felt you were getting needy- and wondered if the quirk had activated...
You were so silent he took it that he had said something lame again, but even the words he had said- with the slight inkling of innuendo made his thoughts wander to you in a less than scholarly uniform, and he had to change the subject.
"You seem to be taking this well... I really... commend your willingness to take on such a role..." he said softly, taking a deep breath as his thoughts refocused finally.
Birds softly chirped as you thought about his comment, your hands were behind your back now contemplatively.
"It's definitely surreal... I mean all my life I thought I was quirkless, and then in just a few days my whole life is changed because I do... I wouldn't say its a dream but... its different.." you couldn't quite put your finger on the whole situation, but glanced at him.
He seemed seriously contemplative as well, and caught you staring so he faced you.
"That does sound extremely disorienting... if you ever need an ear, I may not say the most comforting things, but I am always willing to lend mine to your troubles." He said so with a small smile- and you felt so peaceful and secure in that gaze.
He was like a lighthouse- you thought, how corny- everything was oceany.
"Well... there was a few things I was considering... uhm... or more I was curious..." you turned away from him, looking to the beautiful greenery around you both.
"Go on." He urged gently, his own curiosity piqued at your change in tone.
"Well... I know what my quirk feels like when... certain standards are met- but... what does it feel like for you? I... wanted to know so maybe I could understand my affect better." You spoke a bit embarrassed, given the situation it might be uncomfortable to answer.
He sucked in a breath, recalling the feeling he got when you kissed him- it was surreal on its own.
He had been struck before by brief quirks that altered his mood, or controlled his body in some way- but the sensation he had gotten when you two interacted yesterday was... heavenly to say the least.
How to describe such a thing.
He turned and looked at the ground, trying to compile his thoughts, a light dusting on his cheeks as he tried his best to give an honest answer.
"That's a valid curiosity... it felt good to say the least... but it was more a state of energy I can describe as being submerged into... forgive me if this sounds ridiculous but it felt like being submerged underwater- but in a positive way." He sighed adjusting his glasses looking up.

"I wish I was able to give you a better description- but it felt more than just endorphine-driven... it was a state of mind and security and elation... I believe that is the best way I can describe it..." he felt his chest flutter at his admittance, you seemed slightly more pleased to hear it, a small smile slipping onto your features.
"I felt something similar to the ocean waves too.. when I kissed you..." you spoke out, a light feeling in your chest.
"I worry its just my quirk forcing us to feel this way... but... a small part of me hopes its more of a result of our connection... maybe..." you said so slowly- not trying to sound too fanciful in your thoughts.
"I... well the talk of fate and destiny is quite interesting... I think..." he was thinking carefully of his own words... not wanting to discourage your advances in any way.
"I think to say the least it didn't feel artificial in any way...and even without the quirk showing now... I can say with certainty that... I enjoy your company." He nodded to himself. You looked up and smiled at him.
"Me too."
~
The talk for the rest of the mild hike was gentle and carefree- you felt relaxed and safe being honest with him- not finding his more calculating answers off putting- he was merely honest and thought a certain kind of way. It wasn't bad to hear someone's nonobjective thoughts.
The two of you had reached the end of the stream that encircled the house- and a lovely little metal bench was nestled under a large ginkgo tree that was still lush and green for spring.
"It's time to reapply sunscreen." He spoke a bit nervously. You were beginning to notice that despite being who he was (as serious as he was) you could tell he was worried to say the wrong things- you found it cute.
"Lets sit down, can you get my shoulders- they're feeling a little warm." You said innocently enough- sitting down on the cool dark green metal of the bench. It was too perfect of a day- you breathed in deep, your back facing him as you waited.
"-sure." He said resolutely as he sat down. He could have just sprayed it, but worried the oil of the liquid might stain your dress, so he tentatively sprayed his hand and with a slightly hovering hand mustered up the courage to begin running his palm between your shoulder blades. You were getting a little warm in the area- he chastised himself for not noticing sooner.
"It's a little cold." You giggled a bit as he applied the next batch. His palm was large and a bit rough- hero work, and it was very square. You closed your eyes blushing, feeling a bit of his warm breath reaching the back of your neck.
"I apologize, I can warm it up with my hands if that would be more comfortable." He said stiffly- somehow finding the fact that this felt so intimate a bit crazy.
Your bare shoulders seemed so much smaller than his own broad stout ones, you squeezed your hands together in your lap.
"It's okay- it feels good. Don't worry about me" you said as if trying to pacify him. He sprayed more in his hand and slowly ran his hand up around the curve of your shoulder around your dress, holding his breath a bit before sliding his hand over to the other side to rub your shoulder with the fluid before sitting back.
"There- hopefully that will keep the sun at bay." He turned forward and sprayed his face after removing his glasses, trying to get a hold of himself.
You had loved the feeling of his hand around your back- your felt your ears were hot and hoped they weren't red, or he might want to apply there too. The feeling of it being just you and him was amplified, the gentle babble of the water beside you both kept things peaceful enough- but you felt a swirl in your chest and you turned to him.
"Tenya... I..." he looked at you blankly- then looked forward again, seeming on guard but as if something else was on his mind. You worried you had gone too far, and this was all still bizarre to him- that maybe he was just really polite and he enjoyed your company as a friend... someone he could be normal with despite being a hero.
You nibbled the inside of your cheek and felt sad- that this could be in your head. You were about to speak up to offer some form of relief from this tense moment before he spoke out.
"______. I would like to get to know you more... in a romantic way- if... that is alright with you." His hands were gripped in fists on his lap but he turned to you in a quick motion after that made you shift in surprise.
Your heart was about to pass out- it raced.
He blushed, pushing his glasses higher up his nose, he had kept his vision away from you but now turned- he looked directly into your anxious yet hopeful eyes- a more serious look in his own eyes despite the red on his cheeks. He reached his hand now and rested it on top of yours, before he grabbed it softly.
"I would very much so like to pursue this relationship earnestly- contract or not."
Oh god.

The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.
