"y/n come onnn." atsumu said and pulled on your arm.
"atsumu nooo." you tried to pry his arm off, but he only tightened his grip on you.
"how many times do I have to tell you. we have to make this thing believable." he said and dusted off your shoulder. there was nothing to be dusted off.
"but there's so many people out there."
"you're the most popular girl in this school and you're worrying about people?" he asked, clearly amused about your statement.
"doesn't mean that I like the attention." you said. "i just want to play volleyball."
"y/n! do you want to eat lunch with us?" atsumu's head whipped around to see who asked the question.
"not them again." you whined when you saw who it was. atsumu glanced down at you before clearing his throat and letting go of your arm. he walked over to the same four guys that's been following you.
you walked closer to them and stood halfway behind atsumu. "you do realize she's taken now right?" atsumu said, his playful tone that he used with you now gone.
"since when?" blond boy asked.
"motherfu- you were there for the proposal." atsumu said. you remembered before he yelled across the school yard that the walmart chris hemsworth and his little gang ran up to you.
"oh."
"oh my ass." atsumu muttered under his breath. "yeah so stop running after her now, yeah?"
the four guys just turned around and left. "was I like your prince charming?" he asked, going back to his playful tone when they were out of sight.
"prince charming?"
"i protected you from them."
"could've protected myself."
"and how did you plan to do that?" he asked, slowly walking down the hall while talking so you followed him.

"run." the easiest way to solve problems.
atsumu laughed. "smart."
"atsumu!" you and atsumu both jumped at the sudden outburst and turned around. a girl with was bowing down with a pink box in her hands that were outstretched to you two. "i made some cookies just for you last night!"
you leaned against the wall while waiting for atsumu's reaction. atsumu turned to send you a look. you knew what that look was. make it believable.
you glared at the girl with the most jealously you could muster while she spoke to atsumu. atsumu shook his head at the girl after saying a few words. she let out a blush and started to shake her head nonstop before running off with the box still in her hands.
"are you not gonna ask what that conversation was about?" he asked.
"why would I?"
"aren't girlfriends supposed to be jealous when guys talk to other girls?" he asked and pushed you ahead of him so he would walk.
"i mean, i don't like you. but i guess I wouldn't get jealous even if we were dating for real since you don't really seem like the person to cheat or flirt with another girl." you answered.
atsumu went quiet for a little bit before little out a fake cry. you looked at his face and saw him wipe a invisible tear off his face. "i think that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me." his voice even cracked to add to the acting.
"honestly i think so too." you said and then stopped when you two reached outside the cafeteria doors. "can we go back to the roof?" that was where you usually ate lunch with ayame, but she wasn't at school today. atsumu sometimes sat up there with the other guys.

"nope. we're already here." the doors opened and he pulled you towards the table filled with volleyball guys. he pushed you down in the seat next to suna and an empty seat. "don't run off now."
"you make me sound like a fucking pet." you said, but he already ran off.
"how'd you get dragged in here?" suna asked and threw a piece of popcorn into his mouth.
"i really don't know." you placed your backpack on the back of your chair and tugged on the collar of your uniform. you then looked at your fingers and played with the piece of tape you wrapped around your fingers in the middle of class.
you jammed your finger again while setting the volleyball to yourself this morning. you went to unwrap it and rewrap it over and over again until atsumu came back.
"miss me?"
"no." you stretched your hand out and stole a chip from his chip bag. atsumu slapped your hand away and guarded his chips.
"don't steal my food." he said and sat down.
"already did."
