《A Little Good Influence | Max Thunderman x Reader》Chapter 51

"Okay, watch your step." Max muttered as he guided you through what seemed to be a field. You were blindfolded comfortably as he pulled you to god knows where.
But you could feel the cool night air and the tips of the grass brushing against your bare leg. You could smell the trees in the air and hear the distant chirp of an insect.
The strongest thing that you felt was the stream flowing a little away from you and Max's hands in yours as he gently pulled you.
When you finally stopped, you were practically buzzing with curiosity. Max then stepped behind you, rubbing your arms reassuringly before reaching for your head and loosening the blindfold around your eyes.
You gasped.
It was one of the most beautiful things you had ever seen. You were surrounded by trees but standing in a clearing through which you could see all the stars in the sky.
There was a brook flowing right by your feet with shining pebbles at the bottom of it.
Without even thinking, you pulled the shoes off your feet and grinned widely when your bare feet touched the grass beneath you.
"Not that I'm complaining, but why did you bring me here?" You asked, turning around to see Max staring at you with an affectionate smile and you had to repeat your question, pulling him out of his daze.
"You said how much you loved the jungle and the beach, so I thought I'd show you another scenery." He told you and you nodded in affirmation.
"It's wonderful, thank you so much."
Max smiled at you and waited until you stopped running around, wanting to touch everything and jump in the stream, bending the water around you to create a little rain.
Finally, after running around for what seemed like hours you finally tired yourself out and ended up sitting beside Max in the grass, not caring about the dirt.

"How did you know about this place?" You asked, curious about how Max knew about a place so far away from the city.
He chuckled lightly at your question and it piqued your curiosity, "What? What's so funny?"
"This is the place I'd come to when I ran away from home." He laughed and you found yourself giggling too.
"Really? Max Thunderman ran away from home to such a beautiful place? Not a dingy cave in the basement?" You teased, referring to his underground bedroom.
"Yep, my name is probably still carved into some of the trees here." He mused, gazing at a few of the trees surrounding you.
"It's kinda cute to think of a younger you running around here cuz your parents decided to ground you again."
"I didn't run around so much, just sit in the corner and write in my little diary." He chuckled, thinking back and you smiled, "You wrote in a diary? Okay so tell me, what would these deep entries sound like?"
He laughed at you but decided to indulge your teasing, "Okay then. Dear diary," You were already giggling, "Today I got the most beautiful girl in the world to my special secret place because I have something very important to tell her."
"This better not be a proposal Max Thunderman." You teased with a warm smile.
"No, it isn't. It's an apology." He told you earnestly and you awkwardly settled your hands in your lap.
"This isn't awkward at all." You murmured and he chuckled, "But I have to say it."
"(Y/N), I'm so sorry about everything. I never should've taken Allison's side over yours." You tried shaking your head and dismissing him but he didn't let you brush it aside, "No, you shouldn't just ignore it. When you were going through a tough time, I didn't stick up for you when I should have."

"It wasn't your fault." You murmured, trying to comfort him.
"It was. I let you distance yourself from us because I thought you needed space; I didn't know it was because of Allison but if I had been paying more attention then I would have." He said firmly and your eyebrows went towards your hairline.
"You know about Allison?"
"Yeah, she told us when you ran away. Again, I am so sorry. I can't believe I ever dated that girl."
You shrugged, looking up at the sky, "In a way, it happened for the best. I learnt that I didn't need anybody but myself."
He nodded, "I know that's a good thing and it's make you so confident and untouchable. But I'm worried that you may not rely on us ever. I know we made a lot of mistakes, but I hope that in time, you'll learn to trust us again."
You shrugged again, "In time."
"I'm so sorry, (Y/N), I just, I have no idea how to make it up to you." Max confessed and you gave him a small smile, grabbing his hand.
"All is forgiven, I'm not upset anymore. I promise."
The scenery along with the starlight and the gentle running of the stream behind the two of you happened to be the perfect thing to set the mood and it seemed Max thought the same thing because he suddenly leaned in, stabling himself but set a hand onto the ground next to you and pressed his lips to yours.
You responded almost immediately, placing your hands on his shoulders and pulling yourself closer to him. Your heart began to race as he kissed you harder, cupping your cheeks and pulling you even closer.
He tilted your head, his insistent mouth parting your lips as your heart stuttered in your chest. He could still make your heart go a mile a minute.
You breathed deeply through your nose when his hands settled at the dips of your waist, your fingers gently fluttering through his hair.
Your head was spinning and your body felt like it was being filled with something light and heavy at the same time. Stars were shining brightly even though your eyes were closed and you felt giddy and warm even though the chilly night air was blowing through your hair.
Slowly, he pulled away, but not too much. You could still feel his breath on your face and feel his lips lightly brushing yours. You were panting, running your hands up and down his arms that still gripped your hips.
"Can we please start over, (Y/N)? Will you be my girlfriend again?"
You gave him a small smile, "I'm so sorry."
He realized where your answer was going and pulled away. You hid your face in your hands, "Ugh, Max, I'm so so sorry. I just, I'm not in that place just yet. I know this probably sounds so cliché but I just, I need some time just to focus on myself." You ran your hands through your hair, sighing, "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have led you on, I just really wanted to kiss you and I—"
Your words were cut off when he kissed you again.
Your eyes widened and you pulled away, "Max I just told you."
He shrugged, "I know. But if tonight is going to be the last time I kiss you, then I want to make the most of it."
It felt like the air had been ripped from your lungs. You couldn't really argue with that logic and you immediately cupped his cheeks and let him pull you into his lap and press open-mouthed kisses to your lips.
You kissed until the sun rose, tangled together in the grass, savouring what was possibly your last kiss together.

Parental Controls
Reeve Williams always felt more at home in vivid virtual reality than in drab real reality, partly as an escape from the very real embarrassment of her technically inept parents, Walter and Wanda. When Reeve’s parents give her a new total-immersion virtual reality system for her birthday, Reeve reluctantly agrees to show them what it’s like…just for a few minutes. But a mistake only her technophobe father would make leaves Reeve facing the prospect of spending months in the greatly accelerated, fantastically complex, brutally unforgiving game world. With her parents. Posts will be every M/W/F. If I ever decide to try to turn Parental Controls into an ebook, I won't do so in such a way that I'd need to take down what I've posted to Royal Road. Thanks for reading!

Forgive me, I didn't mean to take that!
Murong Yingyue is the heiress to a famous cultivator clan. Except that’s she’s really not, and just a stand-in for the real heiress, who had been sickly since she was born. And she’s not really even herself. A transmigrator from Earth had transmigrated into the body of a female demoness, inheriting her memories. The transmigrator had then later died, transmigrating into her infant body! Ah, Why is it so convoluted? She grew up with those memories, and when she was finally sufficiently strong enough to travel the world safely, she eagerly embraced a leisurely life. When I was a demoness, I didn't know how to live without constantly being on guard and having to calculate every move I make. When I was on Earth, I didn't know a life without romantic drama and jealous women! I'll enjoy these two things you have missed, then! I'll do whatever I want and avoid troublesome people. So... How the f*ck did I get into this stupid cliche storyline? And as the main character, too? I don't want to be the main character! They attract so many senseless cannon fodders and powerful enemies, and furthermore, don't they attract romantic interests like it's no one's business? Someone help me! This will read better if you are familiar with wuxia novels. Discontinued. Apologies to all who liked the story. I feel that my writing style has changed since I last wrote for this story, so I tried to get myself to rewrite the story but I couldn't find any motivation to do so. I also lost the outline I had for this story and don't really remember what direction it was going in, so I want to leave the story as is. Thank you to the people who read and favorited this.
