a-something.

Kie took Otto home the next morning.

Her parents were away for the weekend, and she had declined their invitation to come with.

She wanted them to do things on their own, she wanted Laura to have memories with just the two of them.

After Otto had gone to bathroom the night before, Kie had turned her phone off too. It was buzzing practically every other second. From the screen she could see they were from 'Maybank' which could only be JJ. It would be extremely strange if it was from Luke, who was currently on the run.

Kie had no clue what JJ wanted with Otto, he had made his stance very clear.

Walking through the doors to her own home Otto went straight to the kitchen and made herself some breakfast. It was only then she turned her phone back on.

She was very glad Kie had turned it off.

While chewing a mouthful of buttered toast her phone began buzzing, indicating all the missed notifications she had missed.

There were ones from instagram, a bunch of follow requests.

Nosey bastards.

There were some texts from her parents asking how she was, what she was up to, and saying bye as they hadn't got to that morning.

She replied to those instantly, saying she was okay, and to enjoy their trip.

Some texts from Pope, Belly and Maria.

Those were all kind, she replied to those shortly, with only a few words. But she made sure to thank them for their concern and tell them that she was okay.

But the majority of the notifications were from JJ.

JJ threw back some lukewarm beer as he chatted with some girl, he thought her name was Amy? Or maybe Annie? Something beginning with A.

She was pretty enough, and you know the saying to get over someone you need to get under someone else.

Although JJ was over Otto.

Fully and completely.

"Wanna go back to mine?" The A-something asked JJ, playing with a strand of her bleach blonde hair.

She was the completely opposite of Otto, she was in a skimpy outfit on a cold beach - it was pretty impressive, really - her hair was immaculately curled, long and so blonde he was sure if he gave the ends a tug they would snap off. Her makeup was intense and done to perfection she had a slightly orange spray tan. Every aspect was different, A-something was short and had massive boobs and Otto was tall and did not have massive boobs.

She was gorgeous, just in a different way to Otto.

JJ smirked, "Lead the way."

A-something grinned and grabbed JJ's hand, he could feel her acrylic nails as she began leading the way to her car.

He could hear Wes something, he wasn't really paying attention, but he hear snippets and that was enough to piece together the rest.

His ex girlfriend.

A whore.

Pregnant.

JJ's baby.

At the mention of him he struck up a conversation with the girl, not wanting her to focus on what Wes was saying.

"I've got some molly back at my house." She turned to him, she either didn't hear or didn't care.

"You really know the way to a boy's heart."

As they continued their walk JJ saw Kie dragging Otto, her face was white as a sheet.

He wasn't happy to see it, she obviously was heartbroken, but she had nothing to do with him so he just brushed it off.

They got A-something's car and he got into the passenger seat, it probably wasn't the best idea to let her drive as she was clearly drunk, but JJ wasn't much better.

She drove through the cut and saw the Chateau come and go, the Twinkie was parked outside.

Not his problem.

The drive continued and he began to feel bad, it started of subtlety, then as the minutes passed he began realising his mistake.

He fucked up.

Really fucked up, well and truly.

Otto was his friend, she was a good person who had a lot of shit going on in her life.

When the girl stopped at a stop sign he unclicked his seat belt. "thanks for the lift," he said over his shoulder as he got out of the car. He didn't wait for a response as he began to run back to the cut and back to the Chateau.

When he got inside he realised she wasn't there, but Pope and Belly sat on the stained sofa, looking extremely judgemental.

JJ had known Pope for a majority of his life, which was long enough for one look to convey a lot.

And the look Pope gave him was one of anger, of disappointment and of judgement.

He may not have been the closest to Otto, but he knew her and they were good friends. They shared classes together and he always found her funny, in a dry, sarcastic way.

"Where is she?" JJ asked, out of breath.

Pope didn't respond, so JJ asked another question. "Is she okay?"

It was a dumb question, what Wes said and the way she looked made it obvious that she wasn't, in fact, okay.

"Where were you when Wes made the announcement?" Pope asked.

"I mean, I was at the party, I was talking to a girl and we were walking to her car. I saw her walking away, but on the drive to the girl's house I got out and came back here."

Pope scoffed, "You not only heard what he said, but you saw her and just didn't give a fuck?"

Every second that went by JJ was realise more and more how much he screwed up. Otto was his friend, quite frankly one of his closest friends, and he was - he still didn't realise this - completely in love with her.

And he shouted at her, he shouted horrific, ugly things at her. He tried to dicate what she did with her body, and on top of that he criticised a decision she made which obviously took time to make.

And then he ignored her when something traumatic happened.

He heard what her psychopathic ex boyfriend said about her, and he saw how to affected her and he was more worried about getting laid.

She didn't deserve that.

She didn't deserve any of that.

Scrolling the texts Otto realised they were mostly apologies, about his behaviour and what he said.

And the ones that weren't apologies were requests to meet up so he could talk to her in person, so he could do more apologising.

But, she didn't want that.

She replied that she didn't want to see him.

Despite being absolutely out of it, she saw him, his arm slung around Yvette Winters from their school. And the grin on his face at what she was saying.

She saw as his eyes skimmed over her and how he looked away and kept walking.

Otto knew he had heard, and he just didn't care.

That was something she couldn't protect herself from, that stung. Sure, they were no longer friends but surely he still cared enough that he wouldn't just walk straight passed her?

She knew if something like that happened to him, despite how angry she was at him, she would've made sure he was okay.

When she went out with Kie during the last two weeks of the holiday, mostly just the pair of them.

JJ often showed up, often he would try and walk up to him, he didn't look like his usual cocky, confident self. He looked sad, apologetic.

But, Otto wasn't ready to move on.

She didn't know if would ever be.

Every single man in her life screwed her over, she always ended up giving them an inch and they took a mile and destroyed every inch of that mile.

Kie would always tell him to leave.

One night Otto had given Kie a brief synopsis of what he said that afternoon. She was already pissed at him so it wasn't going to tarnish their friendship anymore, that damage was already done.

He had done that all by himself.

She didn't go into every sordid detail, she just said he shouted, he told her she should've gotten an abortion, that he didn't know if the baby was his and he wanted no part.

Even from the brief glimpse into what he said she knew it was much worse.

When the group hung out at the Chateau, which had been cut down considerably, Otto wasn't there and it was always quite tense.

They were mad at JJ, and JJ was mad at himself.
