《Ink & Tears》Frostbite

I feel so cold

It is not the rain that trickles down my cheek

It is not the frost that has enveloped my heart

Nor is it the snow that dances playfully to the tip of my tongue

It is you

You have frozen my body

Created a tundra where my love lay

Prostrate upon the barren land

There used to be such warmth

Like naked bodies upon the sand

I used to trace your hips with my finger tips

Exploring the curves and peaks of your body

But now,

It is as though I buried my hands in ice

Growing burning pain releasing into glorious numbness

I dare not try to warm them

Frostbite has set in upon me

Fear of reaching for that warmth again keeps my heart chilled

I know there is pleasure outside of the burn

But that wall has divided me

Little by little I begin to reach

Like digging your foot into sand

It begins almost unbearably warm

But the further you go

There is a refreshing coolness beneath

I will keep digging to reach my coolness

To slowly defrost my heart

Hopefully the frostbite has not blackened it.
