The pain I feel is real

A darkness deep inside

Though I smile and try to hide

It still seeps to the surface

The smiles and laughter

Help me cope and deal

It may not be ideal

But it's who I am

There is a pit that's never full

Sometimes there's a lull

And in that time I find joy

I find fulfillment and life

But the pit is ravenous and filled with strife

It will consume the light I found

And in darkness I will drown.
