I twist in the tornado that consumes

Bones cracking and cartilage compressed

My head is spinning as the wind sings

Lacerations and contusions connect

My world is a blur of dust and grit

The hungry howl is all I hear

And I fear death may be near

I squint against the debris to see

Fragmented photos of my life

Out of focus but recognizable

I stumble into the eye of the storm

An eerie calm deafening in the silence

A brief reprieve from my surrounding

But I know it will not last

The tornadoes edge hits me full blast

I’m back in the ether

Where my mortal mauling begins again

I’m stuck in a storm of ghosts

Phantom faces on the edge of memory.
