《The Words I've Never Said》Cuddling in Quarantine

"It's okay,

no need to be shy."

I'm freezing

but the warmth

helps calm my nerves;

we cuddle

beneath the

silky blankets

while I caress

her curves.

She suddenly yells,

"I miss my family,

where's my dog?"

I softly say,

"Unfortunately they're

all gone."

I softly wipe the tears

with my shirt that

pour from her eyes,

as screams of agony

fill the sky outside.

"I promise,

you're safe here,

you have my word."

Her eyes now looking

lifeless and obscured.

It's a shame we can't

go outside,

I don't have a

hazmat suit and if

we even breathe

the air we'd

most likely die.

I have a plethora of

canned food that

should last

us to July.

Remember to wash

your hands with

lots of soap,

I'm not trying

to have death gripping

me by the throat.

So until all

the alarms and

screams subside,

It's okay

if you fall

asleep in

my arms tonight."

Her eyes

eventually close,

I turn off the light,

kiss her on

the forehead,

"Everything will be alright"
