《Psych | C.H. AU》Session 2

"Should I even ask about Skyler?" Doctor Gram spoke as we situated ourselves in the two cushy chairs placed in the left corner of his office.

"I would say no, but you're probably going to anyway," I said nonchalantly as I ran my hands down my thighs to flatten out the wrinkles in my jeans.

Before he could speak again I asked, "Why didn't you tell me she lived so close to me?"

"Didn't think it was important." He shrugged. "Who would have guessed that the two of you would bump into each other."

I thought about his words and the questions I wanted to ask him about her but already knew he wouldn't answer. My eyebrows furrowed together as something else crossed my mind. If she lived near me then so did the person who abused her. I wondered if I had ever passed them at the store and smiled or if I had held the door open for them like I had done for Skyler.

"What are you thinking?" He asked, though he must have already known.

"Who does that to her?"

He shook his head. "You know I can't tell you that."

"Then what can you tell me?"

He didn't even miss a beat. "That you should be weary around her. She may act tough, but she's at her breaking point."

I nodded my head, knowing full well how she was feeling because I was going to break soon too.

"What did you do this weekend?" He changed the subject quickly.

"Nothing." Which was actually the truth. I hadn't left my parent's house once.

"You must have done something," He pressed on.

"Dexter." I glanced out the window next to us. "I watched Dexter all weekend."

"You didn't go out at all?"

I rolled my eyes. "Why would I want to? Everyone looks at me like I'm a freak, even my own parents hate me."

Doctor Gram wrote something down on his notepad. "Surely you're over exaggerating."

"You don't know my dad," I spoke harshly.

He stopped writing for a second and turned his gaze up toward me. "What was he like while you were growing up?"

"The same." I shrugged. "He pressured me into working hard and being successful, but what 16 year old wants to intern at their father's company? I would have rather been experimenting with drugs or learning to play an instrument like any normal teenager."

"So you did what he asked you to." It wasn't a question.

"I didn't have a choice." I glared down at my lap. "No matter how hard I tried to win him over it was never enough. Do you know how hard it is growing up knowing that your father will never be proud of you?"

He could only shake his head. He probably wasn't expecting that kind of answer from me. He must have assumed that because my family was wealthy everything was all right. But that had never been the case.
