after tony convinced the guy to let us go we were finally allowed to leave. we walked outside and saw the other gallagher siblings, kev and v, and i saw my grandma with mike and emma. my grandma brought me in for a hug and everyone hugged and walked off.

"hey, you guys seen my dad in there?" kevin joked as everyone laughed.

i walked over to lip and hit him as he turned to me.

"that was so fucking stupid." i told him.

"what was?" lip asked me.

"taking the blame for it, you know they were gonna charge you." i told him.

"as long as it meant you and ian could be free i don't care, mel." lip told me as i stopped and kissed him.

"just don't ever do something like that again." i said as we walked down the road.

lip and i were hanging out in his room when we saw carl walk in.

"did they give you a cavity search?" carl asked.

"no, we weren't there long enough. i think it was probably on the menu though." lip said.

"see anybody get sanked?" carl asked.

"we were cuffed to a bench in a hallway most of the night, carl." ian told his little brother.

we heard a knock at the door and fiona came in with some towels.

"clean towels. you all need showers. you're rank." fiona said throwing the towels at all of us.

"i'll go first." lip said walking out of the room.

"they take your belts and shoelaces so you wouldn't hang yourselves?" carl asked.

"carl, go help veronica and mike with dinner." fiona told him.

"i help with breakfast." carl argued.

"you pulled out a cereal bowl. go." fiona told him.

"oh, mel, mike was looking for you." fiona told me.

"oh, thanks fiona." i told her as i walked downstairs.

once i walked downstairs mike pulled me into a hug and i hugged him back tightly.

"you really scared me you little bitch." mike said as i laughed.

"hey, i'm still alive so everything is fine." i said shrugging it off.

"well i would've been really sad if you went to prison." emma told me as i smiled and gave her a hug.

"i've would've been sad too, i couldn't see all of you." i told her.

"did you hear about stuart?" mike asked me.

"hear about it? fuck i was there when they dragged him off in the cop car." i told mike as he let out a sign and gave me a hug.

"i'm sorry, mel." mike said as i nodded in response.

"yeah, me too." i replied.

i knew that stuart was damaged but i always thought he was better than this.

i woke up the next morning to mike, emma and my grandma singing me happy birthday. it was finally my day, my 17th birthday.

i still didn't know what lip was gonna surprise me with. but i knew it was something big since he had been saving up money all week.

"thanks guys." i told them as grandma passed me a cupcake with a candle on it and i blew it out.

"are you going to the gallaghers dear?" grandma asked me.

"yeah, i've just gotta take a shower and get dressed." i told her as she nodded.

"alright, remember to come back for supper i'm making your favorite." grandma told me as i smiled.

"thanks, and do you think i can have lip over for dinner?" i asked her.

"oh, yes of course. he's allowed anytime." my grandma said as i got my outfit for after my shower.

after my shower i dried my hair and then headed over to the gallaghers house. once i got there i saw the family sitting in the kitchen.

"hey, mel!" fiona said.

"happy birthday!" i heard everyone say.

i saw lip walking over to me and he cupped my face and kissed me.

"happy birthday, mel." lip said as i smiled at him.

"thanks, now can you tell me what my present is?" i asked him.

"here you go my lady." lip said as he passed me a ticket.

i looked down and read it to see they were concert tickets for marina and the diamond.

"oh, my god. no way! no way! are these real?" i asked him jumping around.

"yes, 100% real." lip told me as i wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him.

i felt his arms wrap around my waist and i heard ian shout for us to get a room.

we pulled away and i looked into his beautiful blue eyes.

"i love you." i told him as he smiled.

"i love you too." lip replied.

"hey, you wanna come to my grandmas for dinner before the concert?" i asked him.

"yeah, of course that would be great." lip replied.

"then tonight we're going to the van for an extra special present." lip whispered in my ear as i smacked his arm and laughed.

lip and i decided to go adventuring for a few hours before dinner so we went around and ended up on a ledge where we could see the whole city.

"wow, it's beautiful it almost makes you forgot how much of a shit hole the place really is." i said.

"yeah. you know, i always found it amazing how intriguing you find city views." lip told me.

"what do you mean?" i asked him.

"you just get so lost in the moment and it's like you're a different person, a happier person." lip said as i smiled at him.

i felt lip grab my hand and i looked up at him and got lost in his blue eyes again.

"if you could have anything in the entire world what would it be?" lip asked me.

"what kind of question is that?" i asked him with a laugh.

"one with an answer, and yours is?" he asked me.

"i just want you by my side, i don't really need anything else." i told him as he smiled and kissed my cheek.

we both sat on the edge of the cliff in peaceful silence with my head against his shoulder.

after that we went back to my grandmas house to have dinner before going to the concert.

"phillip, hello. i'm glad you could make it, melanie has been talking none stop about you." my grandma said as we walked in.

"grams, come on." i said as she laughed.

"melanie, i think your boyfriend should know how much you appreciate him." grandma said and i saw lip smile.

"okay, grandma i think that's enough. let's just eat dinner." i said as we put the plates out on the table.

my grandma took out the lasagna and we helped ourselves to some and started eating.

"so, melanie tells me you're quite the genius phillip." my grandma said.

"oh, yeah i do pretty good." lip said.

"oh, grams we should probably get going soon if we're gonna get there on time." i told her.

"yes, of course. you kids have fun okay?" grams said as we got our coats and things together.

"we will, thanks grandma." i said kissing her head.

lip and i headed out the door and we started walking over to the concert.

"you know, i think it's cute how your grandma calls you melanie." lip told me.

"yeah, she's the only person who's allowed to call me that." i told him.

"melanie." lip said trying to make me angry.

"phillip." i said with a grin.

"touché." lip said as we finally made it to the concert.

during the concert i was singing along, i was a pretty big fan of marina and the diamond.

"it only takes two lonely people to fuck love up and make it evil, it only takes a drop of evil to fuck up two beautiful people." i sang along to the song while dancing and i saw that lip was looking at me.

"hey, don't judge." i told him as he laughed.

"no, it's not that... it's just... you're beautiful." he said as i smiled at him and kissed his cheek.

after the concert was over lip and i went back to his van in the backyard and had some amazing sex. afterwards lip laid next to me and wrapped my up in his arms.

"hey, thanks for today. you really meant it when you said you'd give me a birthday i wouldn't forget." i said as i felt him kiss my head.

"of course, i'd do anything for you." lip said.

"or to me." i said as a joke as we both laughed.

"i love you phillip." i said looking up into his eyes.

"i love you melanie." he said looking back into mine.

so that is the end of the first book! i hope you all liked it i know not much went on but i have more ideas for future books of this series.
