《His Unexpected Gang》B O N U S C H A P T E R ~ 1

I wake up to my fifth alarm and sigh with annoyance. I roll out of bed and go to my bathroom. After getting ready, I catch my parents before they leave for work.

"Hope your last first day of high school goes well." My mom says.

"It would be better if I liked this school," I mutter tiredly.

"Give it a chance. I know moving for your last year of high school can be difficult, but that gives you a chance to meet new people." She explains.

I roll my eyes and grab a granola bar for breakfast. "Ashton, how did that shipment go?" My dad asks while he's packing his lunch.

"Shitty. But we survived, so it's whatever." I say with a shrug.

"It'll get better. Just a small adjustment and then smooth sailing from here on out." He says.

"Sure. Bye, guys." I say, walking towards my motorcycle.

"We love you!" They shout as I turn on the engine.

I get to school and see Zane and Tristian have been texting me. I'm supposed to meet them near their parking spot, but I have no idea how the numbers are spread out.

I grab my backpack and walk around, but I can't find their cars. I walk back to my parking spot and see someone touching my motorcycle.

I walk up to her, and she quickly turns around when she hears me.

"Do you own one?" I ask, watching her sheepishly smile.

She nods and says, "I have a Street 750."

I grin and say, "Nice! What year?"

"2018. But I'm saving up for the one you have." She answers. What?

"You have great taste. My name's Ashton." I say.

"I'm Adalynn. What grade are you in?" She asks curiously.

"I'm a senior, you?" I ask.

"Same. I don't think I've ever seen you, so it was nice meeting you." She says.

"Ashton!" I hear someone yell near the entrance.

I ignore them and keep my focus on Adalynn. "I'm new. I moved here a few weeks ago." I say.

"Wow, moving your last year of high school? I'd be stressed having to start over. If you ever need help around the school or something, I'm here." She says as she walks away.

I smile and say, "Thanks, I'll keep you in mind."

The bell rang before I could meet up with Zane and Tristian, so I decided to just head to class. I glance at my schedule and can't seem to find the classroom. I continue walking down the halls and finally find the hallway.

I step into the classroom and accidentally push the door against the wall. "Sorry, I got lost..." I say sheepishly.

The teacher waves away my excuse and says, "It's fine. Just pick a free desk."

I scan the room and see a free spot near the back. I smirk and slip into the seat beside her.

"Guess we're desk buddies," I whisper with a grin.

She rolls her eyes and goes back to focusing on the teacher. When class is almost over, I see Ms. Parker glance at Adalynn. I lightly kick her leg to wake her, and she tiredly whispers, "Fuck off."

I chuckle and whisper, "Just warning you. I'm pretty sure the teacher was going to yell at you."

When class finally ends, I subtly watch her pack up. "I'll see you around?" I ask, also about to leave.

"I hope not," She answers with a slight smirk.

"Let's go sit with that group over there," Tristian says, pointing at Adalynn's table. I hide a smile and nod.

Adalynn sees us coming and quickly looks away when she makes eye contact with me. I softly chuckle and make a beeline to the free seat beside her.

"Adalynn," I say, stopping in front of her.

"Ashton," She replies, looking up.

"Ladies, would it be okay if we sat with you?" Tristian asks.

Before I can respond, one of the girls says, "Of course."

That same girl loudly whispers, "These are the hot guys I was telling you guys about."

"Thanks for the compliment," I say with a grin.

"Awww... So there aren't any actual hot guys?" Adalynn asks with a cute pout.

I bump my shoulder against hers and teasingly say, "Don't be like that."

"What are you guys doing here?" She asks, glancing at all of us.

"Not that we don't mind that you're here." The other girl adds.

I smirk and say, "Eating lunch... What does it look like?"

"No, I mean, why are you sitting here?" She asks, emphasizing their group.

"Do you not want me to sit with you?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"Just thought you'd be sitting with people like them..." She says, pointing at a different table. "You'd make a lot more connections."

My lips quirked upward, and I said, "If I wanted to hang out with assholes, I wouldn't be here..."

"Awwww, I'm so touched!" She says sarcastically.

"No need to get cheesy on me." I tease.

"On you? Never." She says seriously.

My best friends laugh at our interaction, and they introduce themselves. "I'm Zane. I'm also a senior." He says.

"And I'm Tristian. Ready to graduate and be free." He adds.

I spot Lynn leaving school and shout, "Hey, wait up!"

She turns around, and I ask,"Are you doing anything after school?"

"Depends... Why?" She asks, tilting her head.

"Well, since we both have motorcycles, I thought we could just drive around," I say, scratching the back of my neck.

"I also am new here... So it'd be nice to know what's there to do." I add with a shrug.

"I guess I'm free..." She says, eyeing me suspiciously.

"Cool! I'll get my motorcycle, and I'll just follow you around." I say, surprised she wants to spend time with me.

"Actually, wouldn't it be easier if I just went home, dropped my motorcycle there, and then we just used yours?" She asks, trying to hide a mischievous grin.

"That works too!" I say with a smile. "Let's just pretend you're not using me for my motorcycle..." I say, faking a hurt expression.

"No, I swear I'm not- Well, like a little bit-" She says, almost about to ramble.

"I'm joking, Lynn. Can I call you Lynn? I'm gonna call you Lynn..." I say, giving her a nickname.

"What's wrong with Adalynn?" She asks.

"Nickname," I say with a shrug.

"Just follow me to my house, and then after I drop it off, we'll go around town," She explains, trying to contain her excitement.

"Sounds like a plan," I say with a nod.

"Wait. You're not going to stalk me, are you?" She randomly asks.

I dramatically gasped and asked, "How did you find out?"

She punches my arm, and I stumble back in surprise. "Damn. You have a good arm." I say with a grin.

She smirks and says, "Maybe you're just weak."

"You wound me, Lynn," I say, placing a hand over my heart. She looks away with a genuine smile, and she looks like an angel. The sun's rays are shining down on her, and it's like a sign.
