《His Unexpected Gang》21| I can't lose you, okay?

I hear multiple gunshots getting closer to my room. There is nowhere to hide in this room, and I can barely move.
Okay then... I studied! You forgot someone!
Ashton! My boyfriend... Thanks for being the best boyfriend in the whole world. I'll miss you!
I cough up some blood, and I just know it was from being hit with a chair.
And even though I'll never get to marry him or have kids, I had a pretty good life. I try to hold in my tears and sit quietly, waiting for death.
I see someone open the door, and they aim their gun at me. They flash their flashlight in my direction, and I squint my eyes.
"Adalynn?" I hear someone ask.
"Ashton?" I mumble, not sure if I'm hallucinating.
He turns on the light switch, and I shut my eyes. I feel like throwing up but spit out more blood. His whole expression breaks, and he says, "Oh baby..."
He cuts through the zip ties, and I try to get up. I suddenly feel dizzy, and then I'm reminded my shoulder is dislocated.
"C-can you pop my shoulder back?" I ask, feeling weak.
He wordlessly nods and holds my shoulder. When he counts down to two, he pops it back in, and I grunt, "Fuck."
"We have to get out of here." He says, continuing to examine my injuries.
"I thought I would never see you again..." I whisper.
"I'm here. I'm sorry we took long." He says, pulling me closer. I flinch, and he immediately pulls back.
He cups my face with a frown, and I'm thankful for once that I can't see what I look like. "Is it bad? She's shit at giving punches." I mutter, feeling my head start to pound.

"Nothing you can't recover from, Lynn." He says, gently pecking my lips.
I glance at the doorway and see Mila about to shoot Ashton. My heartbeat begins to quicken, and I gather all my strength to push Ashton out of the way.
I sprinted towards Mila and tried to grab her gun, but two shots were already fired. I whip my head in Ashton's direction and see he didn't get shot. Then I turned back and saw Mila with a bullet through her forehead.
I feel my body sag in relief until I start to fall backward. I try to stop my fall, but my hands go straight to my stomach.
Ashton catches me just before I hit the floor. I glance at my stomach and see it gushing out blood. I try to apply pressure but feel like I will pass out.
He grabs a cloth from the table where the knives were and presses it against my wound. Ashton lifts me and cradles me like a baby. "You called me baby," I say, trying to giggle. I feel my eyes start to droop, and my vision becomes blurry.
He looks down at me with a worried expression and says, "Hey, stay with me." He shakily breathes and whispers, "I can't lose you, okay?"
He starts sprinting until we get outside. He opens his car door and gently lays me down in the backseat. When he starts driving, he says, "Keep applying pressure."
I nod, even though his eyes are on the road. My eyes start to feel sleepy again. Ashton begs, "Adalynn. I know you're strong! Please stay with me."
I try to blink rapidly to eliminate the tiredness, but it doesn't work. "I'm sorry..." I murmur before blacking out.

Heart of the Dungeon
A lazy, wingless, blabbermouth of an imp, smearing goat’s blood all over the crystal – that is the unpleasant view this new Heart wakes up to. “I’m your Prime!” the imp says. The Heart reluctantly agrees. In an unknown world, filled with dangers, it needs every help it can get – even if said help is not…optimal. The Heart tries its best to succeed, even after being tricked by shrewd traders and having less than useful minions. Rival races settle in the Dungeon, causing even more headaches. The heroes, as they call themselves, sets their aim on the ‘new and defenseless’ Dungeon. The heroes are always lurking in the shadows – well actually, they are standing in the open, under the sun, hiding nothing – but either way, their evil intentions, no matter how they claim to justify them, only cause needless death. “Am I really that precious? Must you hunt me so fiercely? Why are you doing this to me?” The Heart does not understand their motives. Perhaps its lack of understanding has something to do with the fact the Heart has no physical limits nor material needs. Why take it from someone, when you can simply will it forth? Just pay for it with mana rent! To make things worse, the real dangers are not from above, nor from below, but from within…
