《His Unexpected Gang》12| Now you're weird for hanging out with us minors.

I've paused on finding the mole for my birthday. I deserve a break, even if my life is being "threatened." After my birthday breakfast, I say goodbye to my parents and go to the garage. I get on my motorcycle and head toward my school.

When Ella and Mila spot me, they run up to me shouting, "Happy birthday bitch!"

I smile and say, "Thanks, guys!"

"How does it feel to be a real adult?" Ella asks.

"Wonderful. So excited to do my taxes and shit. I have a mortgage now." I deadpan.

"Now you're weird for hanging out with us minors," Mila says, faking a disgusted look.

Ella rolls her eyes and says, "Whatever, I'll be an adult next month."

"Should I get the bundt cake and meet at your house after school?" Mila asks excitedly.

"Of course!" I say.

"I'll make sure to bring all the movies!" Ella says.

When I get home, I clean the living room and wait for Mila and Ella. Well, I was really just waiting for my cake... But you know my friends are cool too! What?

I see my mom and her best friend, Cece, step inside from the backyard patio. They spot me, and Aunt Cece says, "Happy birthday!"

She walks over to hug me, and I say, "Thank you."

She hands me a large gift bag and says, "I found most of the things you had on your wishlist, but not all of it was shipped in time. So these are just what I have for now."

I open the bag and smile. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I say, giving her another hug.

"Did you really have to get everything off her wishlist?" My mom asks, shaking her head.

"Even though I'm not blood-related, I'll pretend to be." She says, winking at me.

"I hope you know you're my favorite aunt," I say, grinning.

They pour themselves another glass of wine, and my mom says, "If you or your friends need anything, we're just outside."

I put away my gifts in my room and hear the doorbell ring. My cake is finally here! I mean, Mila and Ella are here! They follow me into the living room, and we all spread out on the couches.

Ella opens a bag of Disney movies and says, "Close your eyes and pick one."

I grab one and see it's Tangled. Ella takes the movie and sets it up on the tv.

"Flynn Ryder is so hot," Mila says.

"He's fictional..." Ella says, laughing.

"I said what I said," Mila says, rolling her eyes.

"He's not as hot as Prince Naveen," Ella adds.

"You guys are weird," I say quietly.

"Bitch." They both say at the same time.

After a couple of hours of watching and eating, I hear their phones ping with texts. I grabbed mine to check, but I had zero notifications.

Mila and Ella read whatever it says, and both look at me.

"This was really fun, but my mom wants me back home," Mila says, grabbing her jacket. She hands me my present and says, "Happy birthday!"

"Thank you!" I shout back.

She dashes out the door, leaving me with Ella. "You know what, I have to go too... My dad said he needs me to babysit my brother." Ella says.

Before she leaves, she hands me my present. "Hope you have a good time with him." She says, winking.

"What?" I ask, confused.

I just shrug and go back to watching another Disney movie. A few moments later, the doorbell rings. I ninja roll towards the door and peek through the window.

"What's he doing here?" I ask myself.

I open the door and smile. "Hi!"

"Happy birthday Lynn!" Ashton says, handing me a small present.

"Awww, you didn't have to!" I say, smiling. I invite him in and hand him a slice of cake. We sit on the couch, and I slowly unwrap Ashton's present.

"If you don't like it, just tell me so I can return it," Ashton says nervously.

"Don't worry about it! I'll love whatever you got me." I say, smiling at him. I open the box and gasp.

"Do you not like it? I-" Ashton starts to say, but I tackle him on the couch.

I wrap my arms around him and say, "I love it!"

He softly smiles down at me and asks, "Are you sure?"

"Of course! It's beautiful! Thank you!" I say, smiling and hugging him tighter.

Ashton and I realize how close we are, but neither of us separate. I catch him glance at my lips, and I hesitantly cup his cheek. We both close the distance, and he brushes his lips against mine.

When we separate for air, I feel caught like a deer in headlights.

He feels my want to bolt and tightens his hold around me. I hide my face in the crook of his neck and squeeze my eyes shut.

I didn't know what to say when a random thought appeared in my mind. "Were you trying to say you were into me when we went to Starbucks?" I blurt out.

He stays silent for a moment while I move back to face him. "Yes. And I still am into you if that means anything to you." He says shyly.

"I like you too," I whisper, hovering above his lips. He pecks my lips, and I smile at his reaction.

"Did you text my friends before you came here?" I ask.

"Maybe." He says with a cheesy smile. "I needed you all to myself." I press my lips against his and dreamily sigh.
