《His Unexpected Gang》4| Maybe I'm the one who needs to chill.

Ashton brings us to a forest and parks his motorcycle. Does this dumbass think he can just murder me and bury me in the forest?
I immediately pin him against his motorcycle before he can attack me. "Who are you working for?" I ask, scanning the area for other attackers.
He swiftly escapes my hold and pins me against the motorcycle. "What are you talking about?" He asks, confused.
I push him away and hold up my fists. "Who sent you to kill me?" I ask. "You don't bring a random person to a forest and expect not to get killed," I say.
He laughs and says, "Oh, that... I thought you were talking about- Never mind. There's a spot in the forest that shows a great view of the city, and I wanted to show you."
I slowly relax and say, "Okay... But if you try killing me, just know I can kick your ass."
"Sure..." He says, not believing me.
"I'm not joking. I've been trained." I say, pretending to make lame karate moves.
Our phones ring simultaneously, and I see I have a message from Mila.
✨✨
Mayhem ambushed another trade
Want me to come get you?
"Um, I have to go home... There's been a family emergency." I say.
"Same... I'll take you home," Ashton says, putting away his phone.
"I'll kill you some other time." He says as a joke.
"Haha," I say sarcastically.
I get off his motorcycle and say, "Thanks for the ice cream."
"No problem. We should do it again sometime." He says with a smile. Excuse me?
"Maybe," I say with a playful grin.
"I better get going. Thanks for today Lynn." He says.
"You're welcome," I said, waving.

A few minutes later, Mila arrives, and I get in her car. "Did they get anything from us?" I ask.
"No, but there's a lot of them." She says, driving us to the base.
"How did they even find the trading location?" I ask.
"I'm not sure, but there has to be something we're missing. Almost every trade has had an interruption from them." Mila explains.
Soon, we get to the base and run in. "What exactly happened?" I ask.
"We chased them off, but a few of our weapon shipments went missing. Sorry boss..." One of them says.
"Is anyone injured?" I ask.
"Nothing life-threatening." He says.
"That's all that matters," I respond. "We're not sure how they're finding out about our trades, but to be safe, we'll add more guards around the perimeter. If anyone notices anything shady happening, you tell me."
Ella walks up to Mila and me and says, "The weapons they stole were machine guns. But they also took a small shipment of our drugs."
After finishing my breakfast, I start to get ready for school. What are you talking about?
Before I leave, I grab my backpack and step outside. I decided to walk since it's the perfect temperature.
When I get to my locker, I open it, and a piece of paper falls out. I pick it up, and it's a picture of Ashton and me.
On the back, someone wrote:
I look around on high alert, but nothing is out of the norm. I snort and shove it in my backpack.
I sit down at my lunch table with Mila and Ella. "Hey, guys! How's your day been?" I ask.
"Boring," Ella says.
"I want to go back to sleep..." Mila sighs, laying her head down on the table.

"I swear my math teacher hates me. I make one side comment, and she gives our whole class extra homework. Now I'll never make friends." Zane complains.
"We're friends," Ella adds shyly.
Zane and Ella start their own conversation, so I turn my attention to Mila and Tristian. "Anything new with you two?" I ask them.
Mila keeps her eyes closed, so Tristian decides to speak. "I think my history teacher is bringing us donuts next week. But only if we all turn in our first assignment."
"Lucky," I say. "Wish my teachers would give me free food." I look around and can't spot Ashton. "Do any of you know where Ashton is?" I ask.
"I think a girl named Jenny invited him to sit at her table. They're over there." Zane explains, pointing at the table.
"Oh," I say, hiding my disappointment. He can do whatever he wants. I grab my phone and text my mom.
❤️
Sure, is someone trying to threaten you?

❤️
Love you more 😘
I watch the video and see someone wearing all black, with their hood on, slip the piece of paper into my locker. But they were careful enough to hide their face from all the angles of the security cameras.
"What are you watching?" Ella asks curiously.
"Just a music video. It was trending on YouTube." I say with a shrug.
"Was it good?" Mila asks.
"Nope," I say, turning off my phone.
When the bell rings, I head back to class. A few minutes later, I noticed Ashton walking in with Jenny. I can tell by his body language he doesn't want to be anywhere near her.
Ignoring my thoughts, I roll my eyes and move on. He can be friends with whoever. I just thought we were becoming friends... It is just the second day. Maybe I'm the one who needs to chill.

Reality Grants One Chance
Some people are lucky, some aren't, some - have terrible luck. Our "hero" is of the latter kind. During young age he got into an accident, which allowed him to learn the fact that he belongs to a rare group of people.. People diagnosed with lung cancer, which he, however survived. Can't say he's lucky, as his life went downhill from that point... Our story happens years later, when his fate decides to make a loop and throw him in the same kind of accident. He gets hit by a truck. Surviving the crash, suffering just a few scratches, he is ultimately "lucky" to find himself out of the hospital in no time.. however every bit of good luck always brings him terrible luck afterwards. This time pushing him maybe a bit too far.. How far? Making him vanish without a trace and find himself in the middle of an unknown forrest. Doesn't sound bad? He can consider himself lucky? Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always.. .... Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
