Day 3
Beep Beep Beep. Beep Beep Beep.
"Mmm." Rolling over onto his back, Relon's eyes shutter open.
Beep beep beep. Beep beep beep.
Letting out another low groan, he turns to the shelf next to his bed shutting off his phone alarm. Looking at the time he falls back to bed.
"I slept in. It's already 11:30." Resting for another five minutes, he decides to start the day.
Opening the door to the hall, he stops taking in a delectable scent.
Someone's cooking and it smells great! Mom must have gone to work by now so that only leaves You-chan.
Quickly washing up, he puts on a fresh set of clothes and heads downstairs. The scent growing stronger with every step before he stops just outside of the kitchen. Just as he predicted, You is tending to lunch humming to herself.
She seems better after yesterday. That's good.
"Morning." He greets leaning against the frame going into the kitchen.
"Oh, Relon! Ohayo-soro!" She salute with a cheeky smile stirring whatever is in the pot before breaking away stopping in front of Relon. "'I'm guessing by how late into the morning it is, you slept relatively well."
"Harder than a log and longer than a baby. You?"
"I slept fine." She answers to gain a shake from Relon.
"I mean how are you feeling."
"Oh..." Her eyes lower before she looks up smiling. "I'm a lot better thanks to you." She softly answers looking up to him, a blush apparent on her face.
Now Relon is the one to go quiet.
"... Good." He states clearing his throat. "I guess I was your knight in shining armor after all." He unconsciously states quickly widening at the words that have left his mouth.
Why did I say that?!
Nervously, his shaking eyes glances to You who is a blushing mess. Her eyes shaking as she too remembers those words spoken.
"Y-Yeah... I guess so..." She turns hurrying back to the stove making sure to give one last glance out the corner of her eyes before finishing up lunch.
Silently heading for the couch and turning on the television, Relon facepalms.
Damn it Relon, why did you have to say something like that?!
I don't know, it just spilled out my mouth!
Naw! You don't say!
I don't! I think! Just as you're arguing to yourself!
Sighing, he sinks into the couch watching the news. As soon as it shifts to a story on idols, Relon, faster than the flash, grabs the remote turning off the television.
We are NOT going down that road again!
Facts.
Who ARE you?!
You but blunt.
Slapping himself, he stops his inner conversation.
"Maybe waiting outside will be ease my mind." Getting up, he walks to the front door opening it for the door to shoot open hitting him with a combination of wind and water. "What the?!" Quickly closing it, he pants looking at his soaking self before moving to the see-through glass on the sides taking in a nasty storm.
The news didn't say anything about there being a storm!
Yes it did.
Shut it, me!
Clapping his cheeks a few times, Relon heads up changing clothes before looking out of his balcony at the rainy weather.
"Man, it's really pouring."
Heading back down, he sees You setting the table.
"Oh, you're back. I was just about to call you. Lunch is ready."
"Oh, let me help." Quickly going to wash his hands, he assists in carrying the lunch over to the table. "Wow, You-chan, lunch looks great!"

No response.
"You-chan?" He looks to be met with the most deadpanned expression like right out of a anime. "What?"
She looks away pouting with a cheek puffed out.
"Nothing."
"Don't be like that. What's wrong." He asks with a tilt.
"Nothing at all, Relon-kun." She walks by sitting at the table.
Silently groaning, he returns the expression.
"Really?" He asks.
"What? Last night you said it no problem."
"That's..." He averts his eyes, his blush returning.
"What?"
"Well..." Struggling to find the right words, he attempts to change the subject. "I told you to be patient with it so why are you being persistent?"
"Don't try to change the subject." She deadpans with crossed arms. "And to answer your question, I..." Now she is the one to go quiet for a moment. "Just want to hear you call me that."
"But Miguel calls you You so why does it matter with me?"
"It just does!" She shouts silencing the boy.
Realizing her volume, she sits back down.
"Sorry." She sighs eventually looking up to see Relon sitting down across from her, his eyes closed with his arms crossed.
"Fine."
"Huh?"
"I'll make a more concerted effort. No promises. Patience is a key skill to have. One you still don't have much of ever since you were young." He comments beginning to pile his plate before digging in. "Whoa, your rice pilaf taste great!"
"And you have patience?" She questions piling her plate.
"Yeah. Look at the last six years I've had to deal with." He nonchalantly comments pausing all action from You.
"Oh. I didn't-
"Like I said, it's fine. I'm simply giving an example. Mom and Dad will hopefully get on better terms at some point." He shrugs taking a spoonful of rice soon swallowing it. "I like it more when you're smiling, You. So don't start getting bummed out again." He quickly takes another bite.
"Huh? Repeat that last part again." She asks, urgency somewhat.
"What? Mom and Dad will hopefully get on better terms at some point?"
"No, after that!" Her normal blush becoming more evident with every passing second as Relon only raises an eyebrow.
"Don't start getting bummed out again?"
"Before that!"
"What are you- His eyes widen as it finally realizes what he said. "Huh... I didn't even realize..." He mutters blinking at the revelation, tints of red appearing on his cheeks as one look at You's slight blush is enough to avert his eyes.
Finally sitting back down herself, a smile forms as she looks to her plate.
He said he liked my smile and he called me You...
One that quickly grows as she bobs her head giddily.
Glancing every now and then at the happy girl eating, Relon shakes the nerves off. Unable to make heads or tails on the situation, he relaxes as he enjoys the nice atmosphere within their home.
I honestly don't see why she's so happy but if she's happy then I'm happy. Now, what to do for the rest of the day? Mom's at work and it's raining so anything outside is out the window. Hmm. It's just her and I so-
His eyes snap wide at the other realization.
It's You-chan and I... alone...!
His eyes look up once more to the happy girl close to finishing her second plate.
No, calm down Relon! It's just like when we were kids.
Yeah, only difference is you got your now hot childhood friend across from you in a house all to yourselves.

WILL YOU STOP!
I will once you admit you like her.
We are literally the same person! And I still don't know if I do or not!
Then why am I, who is also you arguing with yourself, commenting on her being hot?
Because... because...
His mental words fall off as his mouth goes agape.
"Because..." He looks to You.
The girl taking the last bite of rice. The way she holding her chopsticks so casual. Her glasses that adds a touch of smartness that she already holds and that grey-brown hair color that he's come be fond off, and those beautiful blue eyes.
You ready to admit you like her? Because...
Because... Because I...
Go on...
"You done?" Her voice calls snapping him from his thoughts.
"Huh?"
"I asked if you were done?"
"Oh. Yeah. Thanks." He states handing her his plate.
Giving a smile to him, he watches her go to the kitchen and begin cleaning the dishes.
You were saying what now? The voice calls in his mind but he cannot answer.
His eyes are too glued to the girl. Her slim figure and toned legs from years of training. Her... rear standing out with the short shorts she's known for wearing around the house. And eyeing her back, he takes in the t-shirt hugging said figure. His eyes making out the subtle outline of the last piece of fabric under her shirt circling to her ample chest which he has a side view of.
So... I see you're a man of culture as well.
At that last comment, he shoots up breathing heavily.
That's it! No more from you! He mentally shouts.
"Relon, are you okay?" You's voice interrupting him as he quickly turns away from her.
"Yeah! I'm just going to see what else is on the television." He answers over his shoulder before plopping on the couch.
And while I'm at it, wait for this damn boner to go down. He sighs flipping through the channels. That was way to close... God, what's gotten into me?
Stopping on a Funimation channel, he watches some good old Naruto. His body having "calmed down" sometime into the episode.
The original just has the nostalgia that Shippuden and Boruto doesn't. Well Shippuden I take back. I remember when Rock Lee was amazing like when he beat Sasuke and almost Gaara. Neji was so cold back thenbut man, Shippuden did Tenten dirty. She was my favorite kunoichi out of the others. Honestly, they basically did everyone dirty in Shippuden.
"Oh, Naruto." You's sudden voice beside him making Relon jump holding his chest. "I haven't seen the original on in a while. And it's showing the Chunin Exams." She looks to the boy now clear on the other side of the couch. "Are you sure you're okay, Relon?"
Releasing another sigh, he nods.
"Yeah, you just surprised me is all." He answers, his eyes averted to the television.
Raising an eyebrow, You moves over near the front of the television to eye him but he stands up.
"I just remembered, mom mentioned some chores for me to do. I better go do them!" Before she can respond, he's up the stairs and with the sound of a door closing, she can only guess now he's in his room.
"Phew... Damn it, I shouldn't be acting like this." Annoyed with himself, he looks around his room. "Time to do those 'chores.'"
Hours go by. Relon having not only tidied up his room and the bathroom, but even vacuumed the hallway. Now at his computer looking at the latest forums, he glances out the balcony door seeing the storm raging on.
Jeez, is this an all day thing? It's going on four in the afternoon.
Just then, a knock sounds which makes Relon's body immediately tighten.
"Relon? Mind if I come in?" You asks from the other side.
"Uh, hold on!" He stands up looking around frantically.
Damn it, what do I do. What do I do? Think, think, think!
Seeing nothing that can be of use, he sits back in his chair.
Just act calm and I'm sure she'll go away. Oh, what am I saying, she's totally on to me ever since lunch.
Sighing about the inevitable, he answers.
"Yeah, come on in." He says half-heartedly.
Opening and closing the door, behind her, she takes sight of Relon typing at his computer. Taking a seat on his bed, she looks around.
"I didn't think your room was all the messy."
"Well, mom being the near perfectionist that she is, thought otherwise. Took me by surprise at first too." He answers, the sound of typing not stopping.
"Well, considering her job, it makes sense I guess." She responds glancing over to the computer screen. "What are you doing?"
"Just commenting on some forums. Nothing much."
"Relon."
"Yeah?" The typing continues.
"What's going on?" She finally asks.
The typing continues.
"What are you talking about? Nothing's wrong."
"You've been acting strange ever since lunch. Every time we saw each other, you've been avoiding eye contact. Even now, you have your back to me."
The typing slows considerably.
"You sure you aren't just thinking too hard?"
Deciding to play at his game, You crosses her hands.
"Maybe. Look at me then." This stops the typing all together.
After a moment of odd silence, You speaks.
"I knew it." Sighing, Relon rests his head back with a hand over it. "So what's with you? And don't say it's nothing because you, my best friend, won't look at me, then it's something." She states. "What with you? If... If this has to do with you calling me by my name, then you don't have to force yourself. I'm sorry if I came off pushy..." She goes quiet.
"No! Not at all!" He defends turning to her to pause. "It's just.. It's complicated." He sighs scratching his head.
"I have all day. It's just you and me." She answers crossing her legs on his bed showing no indication of leaving.
At her words, Relon's agape mouth closes as he looks away slightly shivering.
"You shouldn't worry about it. Honestly it's not that important. I'm just being an idiot."
"That's not true. Anything related to you is important to me. And you're not an idiot. Whatever it is must be bothering you if you can't put it into words." She states matter-of-factly, seriousness etched on her face leaving Relon at a loss for words. "So tell me, what is it so I can help."
Seeing the determination from the girl, he gives one last sigh for the day before he stands motioning for her to scoot over which she does as he falls onto his bad faceplanting the pillow.
"Relon?"
After a moment, he turns his head to look You dead in her eyes.
"I realized we were alone. As in just the two of us in a place without supervision and... thoughts came to mind." He answers low but clear for her to grasp every word, the whole time a deep blush is apparent as once he's done, he turns his head towards the wall.
Blinking a few times, You digests it and after a moment, her mind finally grasps what he just said as heat rises quickly to her face.
"O-Oh..."
"I know it's natural for teens our age but I didn't mean to become so awkward around you. The idea just kinda... stuck whenever I looked at you. So, I'm sorry. Honest." Silence once more.
Looking at the boy's back, You doesn't respond but comes to the realization of something else.
He was checking me out...
"It's fine." She begins causing Relon to turn looking in stunned surprise at the girl, her eyes closed though her face holds a smile as she stands up. "You genuinely were just trying to respect me. How can I hate you for that?" She glances over her shoulder at the boy.
"Well..." His words die out at the accuracy of her statement.
"Besides..." She mutters gaining her attention, You's head facing him but her blush more visible to the boy. "I don't mind if you stare. Just don't do it too much." She gives an audible whisper and before he can respond, she rushes out the door and down the steps.
Relon, with his hand extended can only lower it and blinking in disbelief.
"Did I hear that right?"
Yes you did and you can thank me later.
You did nothing but cause this whole ordeal.
Look, saying I like her and finding her attractive are two very different things which you need to figure out which one you stand by. I'm just trying to help.
God just shut up. other me.
You can silence me, but you can't silence the truth!
Hitting his head one good time, Relon thinks for nothing to happen. Smirking to himself, he goes on about the rest of his afternoon.
Just did.
For the rest of the day until Relon's mom came home, there was a nice, but notable different vibe between the two. A vibe check showed it to be a good one as whenever their eyes met, both blushed a little smiling at the other.
