《With You |COMPLETED》Chapter Sixteen | how to enjoy Damien Carter (well kinda)

"You're joking right," I seethed out, removing my floppy hat from my sandy hair in disbelief. We had just gotten back from the beach and I had somehow managed to get stuck in a room with Damien.

Damien

In the same room as me.

Let that sink in.

I should really have a talk with my mom about parenting.

I was watching him in disbelief as he laid on his bed with a smug grin, flipping through the tv channels.

"You said you were okay with it, little flower." He chuckled, moving his hand to fix his freshly cleaned hair. Thank god I didn't walk in on him when he was taking a shower but then again-

"Oh shit," I cursed, remembering the fact I did agree to something. I really needed to listen more.

I had just finished rubbing aloe on Emily because she somehow got burned to a crisp within three hours (with sunscreen on might I add) when we were out there.

My day was somewhat well until the moment I realized I needed to shower and the only thing separating me and Damien was a cheap see through mesh wall made out of paper.

I turned to glance at him as he wore a bigger smirk this time, realizing I had noticed the circumstances. My eyes rolled, trying my best not to make a big deal out of it. Maybe if I pretended I didn't care he wouldn't care.

Ha.

I slowly made my way to the bathroom with a fresh pair of pajamas. Not only did I feel sweat pouring out of every gland possible, I could feel his eyes through the wall. With that being said I took my swimsuit off in the shower that was covered by white tile.

It was nice to relax somewhere by yourself, Even if it was a shower that lasted a half an hour. I may or may not have been stalling for the simple fact Damien would be in the same room as me.

When I finally decided to get out I quickly put on a pair of shorts and a shirt that said Adult-ish.

"What took you so long?" Damien asked when I stepped out of the bathroom. He had found his way under the covers of his bed with the tv off. He looked distraught but I didn't want to ask, if he wanted me to know he would tell me.

I shrugged my shoulders before crawling into my bed, a small smile on my face as I copied his figure. I kept my side lamp on so there was some light in the room. My eyes were focused on the white popcorn ceiling instead of Damiens' face.

"So tell me your deepest darkest secrets," I giggled, my chipper voice making him heavily sigh in annoyance. Even though he acted annoyed I could see a small smile on his lip from the corner of my eye.

"You first," He mumbled, amusing me. I thought for a moment. What on earth have I not told him, what have I not told any of them?

"I want a tattoo," I mumbled watching him sit up and look at me. I didn't look like a person that wanted a tattoo, let alone a person that could handle that pain.

"You get a tattoo? Where?" He chuckled, turning to look at me with a small smile. My cheeks were heating up as I glanced at him before looking back at the ceiling.

"On my back. why are you acting like I can't get one? You have like thirty." I glanced at him again, an annoyed huff coming out of my mouth.

"I didn't want any of mine," His voice was quiet making me body sit up slightly to look at the other bed.

"And why is that?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow at him. His green eyes turned to me and he nodded for me to come over to his bed. I was more intrigued than nervous now because I finally got to understand some part of his life.

I moved from my bed, taking a few steps before sitting on the edge of his bed beside his chest. He revealed his arm that I had been eyeing in the air plane, letting out a deep sigh.

"About two years ago, my older brother and his group of friends bought this at home tattoo machine. They were fucking around with it for a while, tattooing fruit and shit." He grumbled, his eyes blanking watching the ceiling for a moment. He let out a heavy huff before continuing. I stayed still, not knowing where the story was heading.

"I had made my mom mad a bit before they had got home and I guess he found out. Jason had busted into my room with the damn thing while his friends held me down so he could tattoo my arm." I watched him in shock and somewhat anger toward his brother.

"What did he tattoo?" I whispered out, glancing at his arm then back to his eyes. I hadn't noticed but he had quite a bit of stubble on his cheeks, it fit him nicely and I know why every girl on the beach was drooling over him. It made him look bad ass.

"He tattooed the word failure and the next week I went on a trip and covered every inch of the word up. My mom felt bad about it for a long time." He gave me a small smile as I stared at his arm. I was never good with sad things or cheering people up.

I held his arm with a soft grasp and frowned. "I'm sorry," I mumbled, hearing him chuckle and shake his head.

"Why are you apologizing? You didn't do it, little flower." His voice sounded a bit happier at my sadness which was somewhat a relief. I glanced up at him with a thin smile before giggling.

"Can I shave your stubble?" I questioned, trying to change the subject. I know I didn't do it but the fact I wasn't there to kick his ass upset me.

I mean I probably couldn't but still.

"Thea.." He warned as I wiggled my eyebrows at him. Damien was smiling which to me was a yes but he was doing his best at trying to say no. I smiled wider and grabbed his hand, getting up so I could tug his body off the bed.

His body slowly got up from the bed, letting me drag him to the light blue striped bathroom. I could tell he was amused at my excitement. I had never shaved a face before, but it shouldn't be any different than an armpit, right?

I looked around his toiletry bag for a moment before pulling out a bottle of shaving cream with a devilish smile.

"Thea, do you even know what you're doing?" He smiled with his mouth slightly open. I couldn't tell if it was from worry or the fact I had already sprayed shaving cream in my hand.

"Well yeah, I shave my legs." I shrugged making him gasp slightly. A laugh escapes my mouth as he started to shake his head. Damien took his gray shirt off before bending over the white sink to wet his face. I rose my eyebrow at him, while he stood back up to stare at my confused state.

"Okay now shaving cream," He looked nervous about this but I was in a fit of laughter while rubbing the shaving cream on his face.

"You look like Santa." I laughed, watching him lean his butt against the sink to watch me. I watched his smile widen as I stared at him for a moment.

He looked ridiculous. I had no idea why he was letting me do this. I don't even trust myself doing this. I held the razor up with an unsure smile that he caught. "Okay first off, you are standing so far away." He chuckled his arm reaching out to pull me closer to him.

I don't exactly know why my breathing hitched, maybe it was because I could feel my hips on his or the fact I almost cut him from just moving. He didn't talk for a moment, his eyes intensely watching me until I started giggling again. He still had shaving cream covering his face and I couldn't control the urge of laughing.

"Alright now don't cut me please." He mumbled watching bite my lip to stop my laughing. I took the razor to his cheek, gently shaving off some stubble with a confident smile.

"I'm so scared right now," I laughed out in a whisper, my shaky hand slowly shaving off another part.

"Me too." He whispered, his hand scrunching up the back of my shirt, keeping me close. It was only because he was super nervous, his hand tightened every time I placed the razor on his cheek.

"Tell me a fear," He mumbled, while I shaved his face. His mouth barely moved but I caught on to what he was saying.

I thought for a moment, shaving his jaw line slowly before answering. I'm afraid of everything, well not everything but a lot.

"Drowning," I mumbled out, trying to focus more on not cutting him. "What about you?" My eyes glanced up to his as I waited for a response. He looked lost in thought making me shave the other cheek.

"Not being good enough," He whispered making me stop once more to stare at him. "What do you mean?" I said quietly. Him not being good enough? He was the embodiment of every girl's dream but I didn't think he was talking about girls.

"My parents think of me as a waste of space. My brother is the one that did everything right in their eyes." I tried to finish the last bit of shaving before I set the razor down.

"I don't think you're a waste of space," My voice was quiet as I caught sight of his green eyes. I couldn't believe that was his fear. My legs stepped back so he could wash his face again. When he turned around to wash his face I couldn't help but stare at him.

He wasn't some bad boy because he wanted to be. He was broken and this was him covering it all up. Damien turned the water off before looking into the mirror, his eyes catching mine for a moment before he smirked.

"You didn't do badly at all." He chuckled running his hands over his jaw as I forced a smile. Damien turned to me yet again with an unsure smile before walking out of the bathroom. I followed behind him, slowly crawling back into my bed.

I waited for him to get settled before I turned my lamp off, staring up at the ceiling. Something just felt off, like we were both waiting for something to happen. I wanted to hug him or at least tell him he was wanted here. Even if it was by my extremely annoying, girly self.

He let out a heavy sigh before turning on his side toward my bed. "Goodnight Thea."

Was it bad I wanted to understand him or at least understand something about him? Now that I know something that a lot of people didn't know I understand why he doesn't let people in. His life was hard, his family was strange, and he was difficult. He wasn't difficult enough for someone to give up on him but everyone he cared for did. Not Sadie of course, she loved him more than her mom.

I turned to look at him for a moment before I got up from the bed, shocking him. My body slowly got into his bed next to him, turning to look at his opened mouth. Damien slowly shut it with a small smile as I moved my head into his chest.

"Goodnight Damien."
