《Say I do》chapter 18: I'm not my father

"It's 3am" I said.
"I know" he said.
"We're not engaged anymore" I remind him.
"I know"
"So why the heck are you standing outside my house?" I snapped, frustrated and tired which was not a good mixture.
Liam finished his cigar off and threw it on the ground before stamping on it, hard.
"It's the same for you. Why are you waiting out here at 3am with me?" Liam asked, a cocky smile spread across his face.
I gulped.
Now that I'm think about it, why on earth am I standing on my porch at 3am? Scratch that why did I even open my freaking door to him?!
"I uh-"
"You missed me" he said, cutting me off.
I snort. "Says the man outside my house at 3am"
A smile spread across his lips. "I missed you"
I took in a deep breath as I could feel my heart racing. My eyes locked with his and for a single moment I felt like there was nothing besides him.
And I wished it would be like this
I snapped back to reality as his face began to resemble that man.
It all came back to me. The reason why I broke off our 'engagement' in front of his family and the reason why I've been avoiding him for the past week. He resembled the murderer that took everything away from me.
How could I marry a man who shared the features of the killer?
"Liam" I breathed, intoxicated by the memories of that man "please, let's not do this anymore"
I wanted to forget but as long as Liam was in front of me those memories were raw.
Liam's smile dropped and he ran his hands through his wet hair out of frustration.
"You can't expect me to be OK with you walking out on me" he said, chewing on his bottom lip.
I fiddle with my fingers. I didn't have the heart to tell Liam that his father was a monster and I couldn't marry him because of that reason.
"It was fake from the beginning" I sighed "I'm tired, Liam"
"Me too" he growled before grabbing me and throwing me over his shoulders. I began to scream in shock as my fist collides with his back.

"Liam!" I yell "what are you doing?"
He walked over to his car and threw me into the passenger seat.
"You're tired right? Let's go home then" he said. His voice suddenly deepened and his eyes were blazing with anger.
I tried to escape but he pinned me down, hovering over me. I forgot how to breath so I held my breath as he crawled on top of me, closing the door behind him. He jumped into the drivers seat and smiled with satisfaction as he locked the door.
Clever jerk
"You thought I was going to do something?" Liam asked, chuckling at my red cheeks.
"Shut up" I hiss.
The whole ride was silent as I thought of escape plans.
We finally reached the mansion and Liam stood next to me waiting for me to get out while I refused.
"Get out" he ordered.
"No" I mumble, crossing my arms over my chest.
He grunted before throwing me over his shoulder again as I growl out of desperation.
"You're so damn tiring" he complains, taking his keys out and trying to open the front door.
I roll my eyes and take the opportunity to grab his keys and throw them as far as possible.
"Why you little-!" Liam snapped, slapping my butt, hard.
My mouth fell open in shock. Hell no, nobody touches my ass and gets away with it.
I throw myself up and grab a fist full of Liam's hair and tug on them.
"You jerk!" I scream as he winced in pain.
"It hurts!" He cried, shaking his head.
I refuse to let go and he drops me onto the floor as I drag him down with me.
We both fell next to each other with a thud. I felt a sting on my elbow which indicated a cut.
"Are you trying to make me bold?" He hisses, rubbing his hair.
I snarl at him. "That was the plan"
He rolls his eyes at me and sighs heavily. We both lay next to each other silently for a few moment.
"What are you scared of Ad?" Liam suddenly asks, tilting his head towards me.
I couldn't look at him because my heart refused to beat normally.

"Nothing" I replied
"So why won't you marry me?"
I gulped. I didn't answer.
"I'm not him" Liam whispered and my whole body froze.
My mind replayed his words over and over again. What did he mean by him? Perhaps, Liam knew all along?
"W- what?"I stutter.
"I'm not my father" he said "I know what happened"
I felt my head beginning to spin and I had to close my eyes to stop the sky spinning. My breathing became shallow and I felt like something was blocking my airways.
Liam knew all along when I was so desperately trying to hide it from him. I somewhat blamed Liam for his father's action because he looked so much like him.
"I hate my father for many reasons and this is one of them" he mumbled.
I fought back the tears as I felt Liam's hand rub my head gently. He shifted closer and I couldn't help but wrap myself around him and sob into his chest.
I cried for a long half an hour and Liam didn't move one bit. At one point I thought he fell asleep but he continued to rub my head gently in a comforting manner.
"You ruined my shirt" he said, pointing at the tear stains.
I roll my eyes and laugh. "Be glad you still have hair"
His lips formed into a smile as a chuckle escaped his mouth. I couldn't help but be in awe. Gosh I sound like a pervert
"Now, please tell me you'll marry me still?" He asks, his eyes lit up with hope.
I bit my lip and stood up.
I can't.
"I need to go home" I announced as I begin to walk away from him.
Liam grunted as I felt shuffling until I felt his arm grab mine.
"For fuck sake Adeline, why?" He groaned.
I spin around and snatch my hand away.
"Why are you so desperate anyway?"
He roared and ran his hands over his face.
"Because!" He yelled "I just need a fucking wife!"
I stared at him and he stared at me.
"So you're marrying me to...sleep with me?"
He closes his eyes and sighs.
"That didn't come out right" he mumbled, scratching his neck.
I smile awkwardly "damn right it didn't"
"Of course I want sex but.."
I grit my teeth.
"You're not making this any better" I say between gritted teeth. He was digging his own grave by the minute.
His eyes connect with mine and oh God how can I forget to breath?
"But- I won't touch you..unless you want me to-"
"I will hit you" I threatened cutting him off as a smirk appeared on his lips.
"But- I need you so my grandfather will die happily. But looking at this moment in time, you almost gave him a heart attack after walking out on me so I don't think his happy"
I couldn't help but stiffen a laugh. I feel like a horrible person for laughing but his grandfather was on the verge of murdering me if only he wasn't hooked onto 100 different machines.
Like grandfather like grandson.
"But-"
"Not buts Adeline" he grunts cutting me off. Liam stepped forward closing the gap between us.
My heart rate went from 68bpm to 150bpm in a matter of seconds. I still haven't figured out why my heart does this. Maybe I have palpitation?
"Marry me" Liam whispered, locking his lips as his eyes bore into my soul.
He leaned forward and without any warning, placed a soft kiss on my lips.
My whole body froze and didn't react as the kiss continued on for what seemed like forever. Reality finally hit me and I stumbled back in shock.
That wasn't a normal kiss. It wasn't a kiss for others to see and it definitely wasn't a friendly kiss.
It was a kiss.
Real
Kiss
What the?
"Did you..just kiss me?" I croaked.

Fortuna Verto
A girl’s luck changes when her world changes upon itself, sending her back and forth between a world she knows and another that shouldn’t even exist. Working with her parallel self from that other world, the two must adjust to their alternate form when visiting the other’s world, as they search for a way to escape the chains of misfortune they are bound to. While this story is the conclusion of the trilogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, as the world of Celese itself is no longer a place the characters will be journeying through. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for all previous books, in case that matters to anyone. This book has an additional chapter after the final chapter that represents the trilogy conclusion, and should not be read until all three books are read first. Fortuna Verto continues the events of Essentia Animus to advance society into a sci-fi interpretation of Celese, bringing events to a distant world of another star. At the same time, events interpret a real-world advancement into a similar sci-fi age of another planet that shares Earth’s galaxy, a planet that has also been linked by the Celesi Veil. English remains predominant in both worlds of the story, but the presence of both sides makes certain Aethyx terms stand out, while Earth-styled scientific terms will also stand in a powerful contrast. Instrumentation remains an important aspect of the Elemental Era, but the influence of the gift has grown distant after discovering the superiority of the elements. Harnessing the elements had eliminated some of the original limitations of instrumentation, allowing for a self-sustaining focal source that provides solutions to problems such as automation. This turns the development available from the previous modern-day sense of a fantasy to one that is deep-future. Finally, opening access to the passage across the veil will open this progress in comparison to a very similar deep-future parallel world without such fantasy elements, contrasting the laws of physics with the laws of elements in a convergence of time and space.

Conquest Of Mortem
*NOTE* This novel is a war of attrition. To say anything less is a disservice to its demand. While comparable to other such works as Ulysses or Moby Dick, each sentence in Conquest is an enemy to be tackled. Not in the ways of difficulty but in absurd density that wishes nothing more than to destroy what patience you may have. Do not tackle chapters as you would ordinary chapters in an ordinary book. Tackle each chapter as a book unto itself. A foe to be vanquished, a period of life to leave behind. Seek to be master of this work. Seek to overcome. For in its design is the willpower, and the perseverance, and the strength of someone who sought meaning in struggle. As I discovered these in times of ultimate desperation, so I hope for you to discover these things. This novel is a love letter to your trials. May you overcome them. May you master them. May you become conquerer.- SeedSagaA literary epic for logophiles, philosophers, and poets alike. A journey into zeitgeist, the impact of media on culture, and the endurance of morality against an onslaught of hatred. These vague descriptions do little to compact Conquest's density into a bite-size summary. They do however relate the basest themes found within. A plot, if such can be surmised, is strung thinly across multiple perspectives, weaving together these concepts into a seemingly distorted tapestry of indecipherable events. Inspired by early 20th century modernism, Conquest will challenge the reader, and provide critique on the medium upon which all great stories are derived. Further interpretation is up to you now; an explorer among a sea of words. Venture on and discover what lies ahead, in...CONQUEST OF MORTEM
