"Adeline" he called, licking his dry lips as nerves took over him. His eyes met mine and I looked down at him as he bent to the ground on one knee "Will you..will you marry me?"

I stared at Adrian with a blank expression as he erupted into a fit of laughter.

"Shut up" I snarl at him, rolling my eyes as he imitated Liam's proposal "you're so embarrassing"

People at the Cafe began to notice and I shooed Adrian to get up.

"Lighten up" he chirped "do you know who you're engaged to?"

An arrogant jerk who forgets about his fiancée for over a week and only looks for her when his in trouble that's who.

It's been a week after that incident I had with Chris. My mind hasn't been at peace and I couldn't even tell Liam. I tried to justify his revelation although I knew there was no use and Chris knew everything.

The worst part? He tried to blackmail me with the stupid thing.

I sighed and a groan escaped my lips out of frustration. Liam hasn't bothered to contact me since Julie left.

"What's wrong?" Adrian asked, concern flashed in his eyes for a brief moment.

"Its Liam" I blurt "he hasn't contacted me in a week"

Of course Adrian still has no idea about the whole fake engagement thing but I just couldn't hide certain things from him. After all his all I've got

Adrian thought for a moment before he spoke again "I haven't seen him at work either"

I frowned and groaned even more. What the hell could be more important than me- his fiancée?! I don't know why I'm being so worked up over this.

"Maybe he's with a girl" Adrian teased and I slapped his arm.

"Not funny Adri" I mumble and he pouts at me as he rubs his bruise.

"I'm kidding" he says "no one would cheat on you...you'd chase them with a knife"

He mumbled the last words discreetly but I still heard him. A smirk appeared on my lips "true"

He snorted and rubbed my hair, ruining it all and I slap his hand. "My hair Adri! My hair!"

He just laughs and leans forward on the counter as we patiently wait for more customers to come in. Soon the time past and it's been an hour. Almost everyone left and I was beginning to get tired and it was only 6pm.

The door bell suddenly rang and a tiny part of me hoped it was Liam. I spun my head towards the door and-

"Adeline!" Jacob chirped "is it really you?"

He scanned me carefully and I couldn't help but smile at his cuteness "it's me" I smile.

"I haven't seen you for a while" he said with a hint of disappointed in his voice. I felt a grin forcing it's way and I hid the fact that I was so full of myself right now.

Jacob Trayson actually missed me?- OK that wasn't his exact words but that's what he means right? I've had a crush on this guy since forever and I can't believe he actually noticed that I was missing

"It's really good to see you" he breathed, nudging his glasses up as he smiled down at me.

Holy potato why was the whole glasses thing so cute?

"You too" I say with a shy voice.

"Please" Adrian snorted cutting our moment as he shoved me to the side "If you guys are finished flirting, can you order please?"

I glare at Adrian and he took no notice of it. Jacob just brushed Adrian off with a laugh and gave his order before he sat down at the closest table to me.

"What's wrong with you?!" I hissed at Adrian and he rolled his eyes at me. The nerve on this guy.

"He's flirting with an engaged woman" Adrian states and I bit my lip out of frustration. Fake engaged Adrian, it's all fake!

I sighed and glanced at Jacob who at that moment glanced at me and our eyes met. Part of me felt guilty and part of me really wanted to just say fuck it.

I quickly made the beverage and headed to his table. "Thanks" he smiled, taking a sip from the cup.

I shook my head and mumbled a 'you're welcome' before beginning to walk back to Adrian who was eyeing me carefully.

"Wait!" Jacob suddenly yelled. I turn to face him and his face changes emotions when he realised what he just did.

"S-sorry" he stuttered "I just..uh..wanted to talk to you"

A blush crept up in my cheeks and I just awkwardly pulled the chair out and sat down. My body just automatically moved and sudden realisation hit me.

Did I just seriously do that?

Jacob chuckled lightly and I just played with my hands out of embarrassment.

"What have you been doing?" He asked, leaning forward on the table.

Nothing really except play some jerks fiancée for the week "Nothing much" I say.

He nods very slowly and takes another sip out of the cup. "And you?"

"Ah just studying" he chuckled.

His chuckle was so cute and the smile that appeared right after it melted my heart.

"You know" he suddenly began "..I've always had an interest in you"

My eyes widen in shock and panic washed over me. My mind kept thinking of a respond but I couldn't come up with a reasonable one.

"Happy birthday" I suddenly blurt, out of nowhere and Jacob stares at me with an odd expression.

Did I just? Holy shit just kill me now.

I just blurted out something out of random to distract myself from his indirect confession. It wasn't even his birthday!

A laugh erupted from Jacob and I buried my face in my hands in total embarrassment. My dreams of ever having anything were between us were over as I just made a total fool out of myself.

"Adeline" he said inbetween his laughter "you're one heck of a girl"

A smile appeared on my lips and I blushed. That just made me feel a lot better about the whole situation

"Thanks" I mumble with delight "actually I-"

I bit my lip from almost admitting to the fact that I've had a crush on him since forever. My mind suddenly thought of Liam and my mouth became dry.

"You what?" Jacob asked, almost as if he knew what I was going to say but he just wanted to hear it anyway.

I took a deep breath and shook my head. I couldn't

Jacob smiled and his hand sat on top of mine as he gave it a light squeeze. "You can tell me" he said with a big smile.

I tried to slowly remove my hand away as I could feel his thumb rubbing on my ring. The ring from Liam the day he proposed. I took it off a 100 times but somehow it managed to find it's way back on my Finger.

Someone beat me to it and I felt my arm being yanked away and held up behind my head.

"Don't touch" a familiar husky voice growled "someone else's fiancée"

My head tilted back and he looked down at me. His eyes showed pure anger and I gulped hard.

"Liam"

His jaw clenched and he pulled me up from the seat. "What are you doing?" He asked, narrowing his eyes at me.

I felt a thump in my heart as he stood inches away.

"Adeline?" Jacob called, standing up as his facial expression showed confusion. "Who's that?"

Anger washed over me and I pushed Liam away from me. "No one important" I say and ignore Liam as he huffed.

"I am important" Liam intervenes.

"His not" I say, glaring at Liam.

"I'm her fiancée" Liam announces proudly, as his arms slip around my waist. Jacobs smile dropped and I could almost see disappointed and hurt in his eyes.

"You never..mentioned" he laughed, scratching his neck.

"I-"

"The ring should give you a clue" Liam grunted, holding my hand up revealing the ring that sat on my finger.

I felt guilt as Jacob just became quite and nodded slowly as he felt apologetic.

"Excuse me" I manage to say before ripping myself away from Liam and walking straight out of the cafe.

Anger, guilt, hurt and frustration filled my mind and soul and I blew out buffs of air to calm myself down. The look of Jacobs face was painful to witness. Liam had no right to say it to him like that. He has no right to turn up out of nowhere and claim me as his fiancee whenever he felt like it.

He had no right to make me feel this way.

"Adeline" Liam's voice called.

"Don't"

I felt footsteps behind me and arms wrap around me to spin me around. I faced Liam who stared at me with no emotions whatsoever.

"Why are you mad?"

"I'm not"

"You are"

"Im-"

He cut me off by tilting his head to the side with a 'you're mad. No argument' face. I sighed and ran my hands through my hair as I closed my eyes.

"I'm mad" I said

"I know" he answered.

"Im-" I paused "no you don't know"

Liam held his hand up in surrender and didn't respond.

"You piss me off" I growl "how could you do that? You had no right to declare our 'engagement' like that. Especially to someone like Jacob!"

I felt the anger rise and I breathed in and out to calm myself down.

"What was that?!" I snap

Liam shrugs like it meant nothing to him. "He was holding your hand and I didn't want him to get the wrong idea"

I snort "he's my friend. You had no right to announce it like that. It's not fair"

It's not fair you turning up like this and acting like I'm yours.

I waited for him to say something and he didn't budge "well?!"

He sighed and licked his lips.

"Alright I get it. Now tell me the reason reason why you're mad"

I stare at him confused. "What do you mean another reason!?"

"I mean another reason"

I sigh and scowl at him.

"Fine" I say "I'm mad because you disappeared for a week and didn't even bother to contact me!"

Liam's expression didn't change and I felt more anger build up inside of me. How can he be so calm after all I've said to him? Why wouldn't he react?

"There was no reason for me to contact you" he said, his voice sounding cold and distant.

I felt a pang of pain in my chest as his words revolved around my mind. I gritted my teeth and felt uncomfortable standing in front of him. Clearly I mean nothing to him yet here I am making a fool out of myself.

He was right. He had no reason to contact me. Our engagement is purely based on business.

I couldn't do this anything.

"You know what?" I say, a smile spreading across my lips "fuck it. I'm done with this engagement"
