《Mesmerizing Mr. Mafia》It's an Expression

"Ow," Soph said as she tried to slide out of the car, and ended up bonking her shoulder against the side of the door.
Angelo put his hand on the side of her head to pull her away from the car and into him. "You ok?"
She nodded, "Can I take a nap? I'm tired."
Now Angelo nodded, and started walking in the direction of the house Soph used to sleep in when we lived on mafia property three years ago.
I grabbed Alessio's hand and pulled him along, knowing that if I hadn't he would not have followed. He was too caught up in what everyone else was doing to pay attention.
He rubbed at his eyes and started his little run to keep up, "I'm tired too."
Angelo opened the door to the small house and the four of us walked inside.
I used to spend many a days with Sophia in this house. It brought back good memories.
"Daddy, have you ever been shot?" Soph asked.
Angelo cringed at the question, "Many, many times."
"Have you mommy?"
I nodded.
"Well, can we shoot Alessio then so he knows what it feels like?"
"Yeah!" Sio cheered at the idea for some odd reason. He just wanted to be a part of the group.
"No, we're not going to shoot him," Angelo responded to her very childlike question, "He's your brother Sophia. Why would you want to shoot him?"
"He makes me mad sometimes," she spotted the sofa, immediately becoming more infatuated with that than the thought of inflicting pain on her poor little brother, "Goodnight," she hugged Angelo and then me.
"Goodnight?" I asked, "You can't go to sleep yet," I pulled her closer to me, trapping her in a hug whilst being careful as to not irritate her injured shoulder. "You have to give me cuddles."
"Ok."

Life was starting to look good again.
Sophia was healing nicely, Angelo was in charge of the Family again with Dom as his underboss, Alessio was just being his Alessio self, and Dominica and Gianna had come back.
The Family was stronger than ever and had managed to take out a few of the Rossi that had Gianna and Dominica.
We all knew to expect hellfire from them in return, but no one seemed to care at the moment. We were all living one day at a time and it was great.
"SoSo," I called whilst walking into the living room (back at the apartment). Bandit jumped up immediately and sat, waiting. "Do you wanna help me with something?"
She nodded and rolled off the sofa, eager to help. "What do you need help with?" She asked while following me back into the kitchen.
I had the dough that I made last night set out, I just needed to get it ready to bake.
"We're making sticky buns," I said happily, my inner child really coming out.
"I don't know what those are."
"It's good food, SoSo."
She shrugged and pulled a chair up so that she could reach the things on the counter a little better, "Ok. Is Sio helping?"
Alessio came running into the kitchen in his morning attire, that being athletic shorts and nothing else. He stretched his arms out as if he wanted to be held, "I'm hungry," he dropped his arms after realizing that I wasn't going to pick him up right now.
"Get an orange," Sophia told him, in which he responded by giving her a dirty look. How dare she tell him he has to eat an orange.
He was such a little princess sometimes.
"Mama," he put his hands on my legs, "Can you make me something?"
"We're making stuff," Sophia said.
"Just let me finish this first, ok? Go lay back down. Is daddy up yet?"

Sio shook his head.
"Make sure he doesn't come out here, k?"
"Ok."
And he ran away.
As soon as I heard the bedroom door close, I proceeded.
"Where do babies come from?" She asked as if the question was something to be taken lightly. I stopped, dead in my tracks. Angelo and I had been preparing for a lot of questions that the babes could have possibly asked us, but for some reason this one had totally slipped both of our minds.
"Where do babies come from?" I repeated to myself, "Uh..." I knew I wasn't going to give her the answer my dad gave me when I asked him the same question years ago. It traumatized poor little me and I wasn't going to do that to Soph. He didn't lie, he told me straight up. Guy sticks his thing in lady's thing and BAM, nine months later, baby's coming out of mom's yin-yang. "Um, have you ever heard of the stork?"
She shook her head.
"Well, it's a big bird that brings babies to mommy and daddy's door."
God, this was bad.
"Then why do girls get big bumps and say there's babies in them?"
This. Kid.
Just like her dad.
They both had the hardest questions to answer sometimes.
"Can you give me that that?" I dodged a bullet by starting a new topic.
"Can I ask daddy later?"
I didn't dodge a bullet, but I passed it off to Angelo and that was just as good.
"If you want to."
"Ok."
As she touched the dough boringly, I grabbed a toothpick and wrapped a picture I got a few days ago around it. As soon as the sticky buns were done baking, I was going to put it on top.
"Do you think dad will be excited?" Sophia asked as she helped put the dough in a pan.
I nodded, "I think he will."
"Me too."
"Daddy," Sophia came running into the closet where I was trying to find something decent to wear. "The oven's beeping and mama wants you to take the stuff out."
Twenty-four fucking years old, and the woman still won't take her own food out of the damn oven.
I sighed, "Ok, one second."
A weird smile came onto Sophia's face before she ran away. God, she was weird sometimes, just like Chloe.
They were planning something, I could feel it.
I walked out into the kitchen just to hear the god awful sound of the timer going off. When I got to the oven though, I knew I had been set up because it wasn't even on. "What's wrong with you two?" I asked as Chloe and Sophia came into the kitchen, guilty smiles on their strikingly similar faces.
"Just open it," Chloe urged.
"Why? What did you do?" I opened the oven door a crack, trying as hard as humanly possible not to see what was inside. She was probably leaving me with a mess.
"Open it," Soph whined.
I peaked inside, genuine curiosity coming over me. "What?" Now I was confused.
I pulled the pan out and set it on the counter. There had to be something to this.
"Turn it around," Chloe said, so I did and I was slightly less confused.
"Oh," I said after examining the picture taped to the toothpick. "Another one? Is this real?"
Chloe nodded.
Wow.
"Due in July. Little birthday present for you."
"Wonderful. I don't get all of this though."
"It's an expression, Angelo. Bun in the oven. We're gonna have another baby."
