《Mesmerizing Mr. Mafia》Does the Little Gattina Have a Crush?

"So," Eleanor said from the backseat of Luca's Audi A4, the first words she's said in a while. And it's been a really long time 'cause we were currently stuck in that popular New York traffic. "How did you guys meet?"
I had told him secretly awhile ago that his little lie to his cousin became a bigger thing than it should've been. Now everyone in the apartment building thought that Angelo and I were married.
"Oh. I work with her marito," he glanced in the review mirror to look at her.
"Her what?" She asked, giving him a confused look.
"Husband," Luca clarified.
"Oh. What do you guys do? I've noticed that you both dress really nice," she paused, seemingly trying to remember something, "Oh and I saw two other guys leave Chloe's apartment with Angelo earlier, they were both dressed really nice too."
"Um..." Luca drummed his fibers against the steering wheel, obviously trying to come up with some believable lie. Can't have Eleanor knowing they're in the mafia, "We sell cars."
"Oh really? Where?"
"Oh...uh...it's just a small place in Jersey. The name's kinda hard to pronounce...it's Italian."
Nice one bud, really believable.
"Oh ok. Do you work Chloe?"
I shook my head, "Nope. Do you?"
"No."
The rest of the car ride to the store was filled with small, pointless chit chat. Half the stuff I already forgot. "Why exactly are we here again?" Luca asked as the three of us walked into the downright freezing grocery store.
"Why does anyone ever come here Luca?" I waited for an answer but got none. "'Cause this is where the food is."
"Why'd we bring her?" He nodded over to Eleanor who was looking suspiciously at a bag of carrots.
"'Cause she probably knows how to shop and I don't know the first thing about it. Neighbors come in handy sometimes, right?"
"I wouldn't know because unlike you, gattina, I actually have skills and if I don't have the skills I need, I either learn them or pay someone to do what needs to be done for me. What do you need here?"
I rolled my eyes and walked off to the frozen food section, "Food," I answered while looking at the cheap pizzas.

"Yeah, Angelo's not gonna like this," he stepped in front of me so that I could no longer see the wide variety of tasty choices. "Fresh is best, gattina. Good for your health, and good for your body. Lets go this way," he grabbed my hand and led me to the baking aisle. "Here," he picked up a box of pizza dough mix and dropped it in the basket I had picked up a second ago, "It's still not from scratch, but it's better than anything you could get frozen."
"But it takes longer to make. I like quick, and that's not quick," I grabbed the box and handed it back to him.
"No, gattina," he shoved it back in my direction, "For the love of all things holy, just take it."
"You're so frustrating."
"Yeah, I know. That's why I'm here with you and not with the rest of the Family."
"Ohh, that makes sense," I said as Eleanor came into view again. "I'm losing money by being here with you though. As much as you...entertain me, that's what really frustrates me the most. Losing money."
"Ok, I have everything I need," Eleanor said, a bag of carrots and chicken nuggets in her arms. Luca and I both looked at the random combo, interested looks on our faces.
"Chloe here," Luca bumped into me with his hips, making me side shuffle awkwardly to regain my balance, "Is nowhere near ready. She's a confused little bambina and we're probably going to be here for a really really long time because of it."
"Fine. Whatever," I set the box back onto the shelf, "We can leave. I'll come back later."
"We should go out to dinner," Eleanor suggested happily, "The four of us. I mean you, me, Angelo and Smith. It'll be like a double date."
"I see how it is," Luca said. "Not invited. Whatever."
A date?
With Angelo?
Luca moved the tv back into the living room so he could watch it without feeling awkward. So he says anyway. His reasoning didn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but I didn't care to question it.
"Did you call Angelo yet?" Eleanor asked while taking a seat on the ottoman in Angelo's room. "I'm not gonna tell Smith until you tell Angelo."

"Uh...no, not yet," I walked into the large closest that I had claimed. My dresses were hanging up neatly in a long row, my shoes were on the floor underneath them and everything else was tucked neatly into the dresser. "I should probably do that though, shouldn't I?"
"Yeah. Dinner is coming up quick."
I glanced down at the phone in my hand and then ran into the living room. I needed Luca's help. I jumped onto the couch, landing just inches away from Luca. "What the hell, gattina?! What?"
"I need you to call Angelo for me."
He gave me a weird look, "You want me to what? No thanks. Wait...why? So I can ask him out for y-"
I cut him off mid word, "I can't-"
His jaw dropped, "Oh my god, you like him, don't you? The innocent little gattina fell in love with the big bad boss man. Ha, that's cute. I'm not calling him for you though. I heard a rumor that you got Nico in a hell of a lot of trouble. When people get in trouble with Angelo...yeah I don't even wanna go there. At least you live with him though and not me."
"Luca please. Just...at least ask him when he plans on coming back."
"Wait, you didn't deny anything I said? Holy shit, you never cease to amaze me. Give me the damn phone, gattina."
I handed him the phone just as Eleanor walked out. Man, she has really good timing. I sat even closer to Luca now in hopes of hearing what Angelo was saying on the other end. "Ciao," he greeted. "Luca here."
Sadly, the volume was too quiet and I couldn't hear anything so I sat back and watched Luca intently, eyeing his every move.
"I'm calling on behalf of the gattina and vicino. It seems as though they've made plans for you and someone else to attend dinner with them," Luca's formal tone was freaking me out. He turned to face Eleanor and I, "What time?"
I looked to Eleanor for help now. She shrugged, "How about six?"
"Six," Luca repeated into the phone, his eyes still fixated on me, "It's tight but it should work," he told me. I nodded, a large smile spreading across my lips. They talked for a second more before hanging up. "Have either of you ever heard of Tony's Di Napoli?"
Eleanor and I both shook our heads.
"Well it's an Italian restaurant. You're going there."
"Oh. Is it expensive?" She asked.
Luca shook his head, "Nah."
Angelo was an hour late. It didn't bother me too much, but as we walked past Eleanor and Smith to get to the car we heard them saying some rude stuff. It was completely out of character for the two god geeks.
Due to personal preferences, we each took our own cars. Well I bummed a ride from Angelo, but that was pretty much expected.
We were well on our way to the restaurant which I had heard was in Times Square. And for once the traffic wasn't so bad. It was bearable actually.
The silence was killing me though. It's never made me feel so out of place before. I searched the deepest parts of my mind for anything I could use to cut through the silence, "Is this a fancy restaurant?" I asked.
He glanced over at me quickly before putting all of his attention back on the road, "Not even a little bit. It's a family restaurant. The best food in the world though."
"Well I feel dumb then," I looked down at my choice of clothing. I put on a long sleeve, black dress that flared out around my hips and black heels.
I never wore heels. Ever.
"You look...nice, criceto. Don't feel dumb. This is way better than your recent obsession," he said, noting my leggings. I did everything in leggings. They were just so comfortable. Angelo didn't like them though and for what reason I had no clue, but I didn't care because they were So. Damn. Comfy.
"Thanks I guess."
A small restaurant came into view, the sign reading 'Tony's'. There was a large crowd waiting outside, cops being just a few of the people among them. Angelo drove forward a little bit more, so that the passenger door was inline with the restaurants entrance.
"Uh oh," I sang while examining the people a little more, a few of them recognizable.
"What?" Angelo asked, worry seeping through.
"That's my dad."
