One day this alarm will be the death of me. I lazily got up and turned it off. I did all my chores before going for my run.

Arriving back from my run, I took a quick shower because I was running late. I tied my hair in a bun and put on a black dress with a white thin belt in the middle. I put on neutral make-up and a pair of white heels. I took my keys from the table and went to my car.

When I arrived at the office, I saw that everyone was upset. I went directly to the receptionist who is also my friend Jordan; the one who always made me go on dates.

“Hi Jordan.” I said when I approached her desk. She lifted her head and replied hi with a sad voice. I could not stop myself from asking her what was wrong. She looked at me and sighed.

“Mia, there is a bad news.” She said. Now it was my turn to frown.

“Tell me about it!” I said to her.

“Well actually Gabriel has told me to tell you to come to his office right away. He will tell you about the bad news himself.” She said.

“Oookaay.” I replied dragging the words.

I went towards Gabriel’s office and I knocked.

“Come in.” I heard a voice saying.

I opened the door and saw Gabriel’s office in a complete mess. I was afraid to ask him what was wrong as I never saw him upset like this before, not even when we lost that important deal month ago.

“Mia won’t you ask me what’s wrong?” He asked.

Caught off guard, I said “yeah tell me.”

“It’s actually a bad news.” He said.

“Yeah Jordan told me but she said that you will tell me about it.” I replied.

“Yeah I told them not to tell you.”

“Oh well tell me.” I said not knowing what to say in this situation.

“As you know about that deal we lost month ago, well the company made a huge loss and in order to save the company I … I … I sold the company to someone else.

My eyes widened at this new information. The first thing that came to my mind was my job! What would happen to me, to us?

Then Gabriel smiled.

“Okay is it a joke?” I asked him.

“You must be wondering why I am smiling?” he asked.

All I could do was nod in agreement.

“But there is good news!” He said.

“Good news?” I asked. Where is the good news in all of this?

“Well you see, the person who bought the company he’s actually my friend; Jacob. Because we are friends he made me 10% owner while he is the other 90% owner. This is fine by me as your jobs are secured.”

On hearing I could not stop myself from smiling.

“And when do I get the honour of meeting the new boss?” I asked him.

“Tomorrow night! There will be a big party and all the staff would meet him there. There won’t be work today and tomorrow.”

“Okay. Great! I hope he is as cool as you.”

“Yeah he is. After all whose friend is he!”

“Well is there anything I could do to help? It seems you are searching for something.”

“No thanks. You go home and prepare to meet your new boss!”

On my way home all I was thinking was about my new boss. I just hope he is as cool as Gabriel says.

The next day I went shopping. I had to make myself presentable so that the new boss does not have a bad opinion on me.

I went in some shops but I saw nothing interesting. After trying some dresses I sigh in defeat. No dress caught my eyes till now. I was about to leave the shop when my eyes fell on a dress whose top was silver and the bottom was blue. On the top there were small diamonds on it and it flowed to mid thighs. I took it from the handle and went in the dressing room.

Perfect! It was so beautiful and I had the perfect pair of blue earrings home. I took the dress off and gave it to the salesgirl to pack it for me. After I paid for the dress, I ate lunch to restore my energy.

Now it’s time to look for heels. The first shop I went in, I found the heels that I wanted. It was silver and had silver glitter on. The heel was quite high but I can walk in it, that’s what important. I paid for it and went back home.
