"Qubool hai"
"Qubool hai"
"Qubool hai"
And she sealed her fate with him.
With tears and regrets.
Her eyes closed in anger, frustration, pain.
A pain so known yet again.
The sea of people murmuring Mubaraks and duas, despite all, she is sighs in grief.
Grieving at her fate.
She wasn't supposed to be married today, she wasn't supposed to be married to him at least.
The man ruined her life once, and he did that again just now.
The man she hated for years, and he deserved all of that.
The man she was insanely in love with once, and he just broke her heart in zillionth of pieces.
The man, Hamza Sayyed, her husband.
Even the thought of this makes her laugh, husband.
The man who denied her is now her husband.
The family who never accepted her is now her family.
And all because, Mishkhat Khawar couldn't say no to her family.
A family who had given her nothing but pain.
A family who disowned her for a sin called love!
A family who begged her to marry him for their honour.
And just like that, her life came back to point zero.
But now things have changed.
She has.
She is no more that nineteen-year-old timid girl, in love with someone.
She is no more that ideal daughter always hoping for acceptance.
She is more that one and she will never be.
For life had been cruel to her and she survived the coldest nights all alone.
Without her family, without her love.
"Masallah badi hi khubsurat bahu hai. Umera hoor ghar layi ho apne." Some lady said to her mother in law to which she just smiled.
Mishkhat rolled her eyes, she is indeed beautiful, she has always been that. But when have ever Umera Sayyed seen it let alone appreciate it.
For Umera Sayyed, Mishkhat had always been someone who snatched her son from her.
She wasn't fond of her ever but now, she made Mishkhat her Bahu.
The irony, she once said, "Mishkhat iss ghar ki bahu kabhi nahi ban sakti."
And today just now she said, "Mishkhat iss ghar ki bahu hai, aur yeh humari Khushqismati hai."
She just balled her fist at her words.
How does life change?
Wasn't she just the girl they never accepted as their son's lover?
Wasn't she just the girl they hated all their lives?
Wasn't she just the girl who was too wild for her liking?
And now she is the perfect one.
And now she is welcoming her with open arms.
The irony.
The tragedy of her life.
And all because her stupid cousin decides to flee away just before her wedding!
That stupid girl should have told her this, she would have fleed along.
But no, she just left and Mishkhat's life is caged.
Ruined yet again.
And for that, she is never going to forgive her, never.
She was made to sit in his room. She looks around and closes her eyes. The room has nothing of her liking, has nothing compared to her boho aesthetic room back at her penthouse, and worse, it doesn't have a bookshelf.
But then again, when had Hamza Sayyed been a reader, never.
One more thing she hated about him.
Sometimes Mishkhat really thinks how had she fallen for him? How could she miss all the red flags?

And for all her queries, her answer was simple, she was in love.
And madly in love.
A long sigh left her lips when she heard those words ringing behind her head, so clear even after years.
"You can't continue with that college and be with me Mishkhat. Choose either of one, it's either us or your career." Mishkhat chose the latter.
Her career.
For she had known, Hamza Sayyed has always been a great son, always be one.
And often perfect sons ended up being below average lovers.
He was that.
The coward love who never stood up for his love.
The spineless one who even agreed to get married to her cousin.
What the hell was he thinking? She scoffed.
The door clicks open and Mishkhat finds her blood boiling. That stupid cologne of his is making her nauseous. Over the years things have really changed, she really did.
"Mishkhat" He calls her and almost touched her hand when she jumped and pushed me away.
As if his touch will burn her.
As if he will break her.
As if.
"Dur raho humse." She screamed almost and feel bile filling her mouth.
Without thinking next she runs towards the washroom and emptied her gut. His cologne that lies on the side of the sink gives her the idea of why.
Lavender.
She is allergic to lavender.
They never fit for one another.
They never will.
"You alright?" He asked as soon as she stepped inside.
She just scoffed, "You just ruined my life yet again, I guess I am just alright after all I am already used to it right, Mr Hamza Sayyed?"
He sighed calming his nerves, she is just angry, he needs to handle her calmly. He repeated in his mind.
"Look, Mish." He started but she cut him off.
"Mishkhat naam hai humara. Aur ap hume uss naam sey hi bulaye."
"You are my wife now." He said stepping towards her.
"Forced wife you forgot to add." She screamed pushing him away.
"A forced wife, a person you rejected once, a person you left breaking her heart and all those promises you made. I am not the person you were supposed to marry today, or ever."
"But we are married now, everything is changed."
"Really and what is that everything please do tell me."
"Mishkhat my family accepted you as their daughter in law."
"Because of their so-called honour Hamza, because they have too not because they want to. If given a choice I would never be their choice and I never wanted to be that anymore."
"Mishkhat, you have changed." He stated with a sad smile and she just laughed.
"I have to. You see not everyone got the family recommendation for government services." And that's when he snapped.
She had hit it where hurts the most. And that's the truth.
"Don't cross the line."
"Exactly. Let's not cross the line. And this time I am drawing the line. You live your life, let me live mine, for however long I am here, a week or two max."
"And what makes you think I will let you go after that?"
"And what makes you think I will ask your permission for anything?"

"Mishkhat, let's just go to sleep." He said closing his eyes but she just step towards him.
"Hamza, I have made my life somewhere else and I am happy there. I can't start another one here, not with you and your family. I am just telling you the truth and I hope you will respect that."
He was shocked at her words.
At her brutally honest words that pierced through his soul bleeding him to death.
She made her life somewhere else.
A new life he was not a part of.
A life he will never be a part of.
And she isn't ready to leave that.
And she isn't ready to start one with him.
And she is unfortunately right at her place. He doesn't deserve that.
He was wrong when he thought she is just angry because of today.
She wasn't angry.
She loathes him for what he did to her back then.
She hates him for what he did to her today.
And he deserves it all.
"And Hamza?" She calls him out of his self-pity session and he looks at her face. Her pale face went all red because of him, she isn't well.
"Yes?" He asks her, maybe she needs something, anything.
And she should ask him that, she just have to and he will give it to her now, anything, everything. Everything that he failed to do years back, he is ready to do now.
He was a terrible lover back then.
But he wants to be a good husband now.
All he wants is a second chance, that's all he needs from her.
An edge, at least.
And she wasn't going to give him that.
"I am allergic to lavenders." He frowns his brow.
She wasn't allergic to anything.
No, she was maybe but he doesn't remember that, like always.
"Okay, but why are you telling me? You want something?" Hamza asked in hope and Mishkhat just wanted to bang her head.
He is still as ignorant as before. He still doesn't own any signature cologne, it will always be anything he just picks it up, and most of the time his sisters did that for him.
"You are wearing a lavender cologne, maybe you can put it inside for the time I am here." She just said and walked inside the washroom with her clothes to change and just before closing the door she throw the bottle out.
He closed his eyes. No way she is giving him any chance.
Hamza Sayyed knows he had messed it up years ago. He broke her heart and he intentionally did that.
Everything was getting too much for him. His mother always wanted someone who will listen to them as his wife, Mishkhat Khawar never fits in that.
He loved her, he really did but he loves his family even more.
And now when he looked back, he knows how much he ruined her. Those words broke her, and they were never true.
He called her not up to his standards, but truth to be told even that nineteen summer Mish was perfect.
Something he would never be.
She always had this aura of sunshine, the one you is bound to take your attention in the middle of the ocean of people.
She smells of some citrus and peonies that just brighten up your day with the unique freshness of it. And she still the smells.
He was never been up to her standard. And that's a bitter truth he never wanted to accept.
For Hamza Sayyed always had a fragile male ego.
For Mishkhat Khawar never bothered to correct him.
He never treated her well let alone pamper her.
She never complained about it, let alone fight with him.
And when she never some five years ago, he was sure she wouldn't be settling for anything less than perfect. She shouldn't.
But here they are now.
Married.
He closes his eyes, when he entered this room he wasn't accepting her to act like this. He somehow hope for her to be the same girl he was in love with once, but now, everything is changed.
And he has nothing to blame it for.
When stepped she inside again, he had already changed and taken his side of the bed. She took the other side.
This isn't any drama serial where she would just sleep on the couch.
This is reality.
Her tragic reality.
"Will you really leave me?" He whispers and she just smiled painfully.
The memory of her asking these same words with tears beaming her eyes and lump choking her was still fresh somewhere in her mind.
And her answer is the same he said years ago, just it has her charm in it, a smile, "I couldn't stay with you, I can never."
And that's it.
That's another truth, another bitter truth.
For Hamza Sayyed knows, he may have married Mishkhat Khawar, but she isn't the one to stay here.
She is the shining star.
She is the poetic soul who says things deeper and bleeds words he could never understand.
And that's the biggest tragedy of his life. He had her once and lost her.
He has her now and will lose her, again.
But this time not without a try.
And that's a promise, a promise he plans to keep this time.
Hamza Sayyed gonna try to save his marriage, even if it's a futile shot.
He gonna try to keep Mishkhat Khawar to himself this time.
But when have fate let anything settle for anything less.
For sometimes, things are bound to happen, new things will start just to end at the right time.
For never the universe will give someone something undeserving of that.
For the cosmos will come together to walk the vagabonds back home.
For them, it's just the beginning. The beginning of their end.
