《Kindred Spirits》Chapter 16

Last night didn't end the way Zola wanted and neither is this morning. Once again she woke up without her mates by her side. Frustrated, she throws herself up and out of bed.
"Okay, listen we need to have rules about mornings, because I don't appreciate waking up alone" Zola complains, entering the family room to see Klaus and Kol.
Klaus looked up from his sketch, to see his mate looking at him with a pout.
"Yeah. Don't worry darling, you can come to my room anytime" Kol suggested, smirking and barely dodging one of the pencils Klaus had near him.
"I'm sorry love" Klaus apologized, kissing her cheek once she sat next to him. Zola rolls her eyes but cuddles into his side, watching him sketch.
Hearing footsteps nearing them, Zola and Kol look up to see Rebekah enter.
With the same clothing from last night.
"Well, well, well, there's our girl!" Kol teases Bekah, blocking her from walking.
Rebekah glares at him "Get out of my way Kol"
"Out all night. What a scandal! I trust you did better than that commoner? Matt, was it?"
"If you don't shut your mouth, the next thing to come out of it will be your teeth." Rebekah threatens, looking towards Zola to see her looking at them, clearly entertained and smiling.
"Don't start Zola"
Zola laughs and holds her hands up, turning back into Klaus, ignoring the siblings bickering. Klaus grins at Zola, moving a bit so she can see the sketch better.
"I'm bored. Our sister is a strumpet, but at least she's having fun. I need entertainment." Kol whines, looking towards the couple.
"What are you waiting for? Go on, have at it." Klaus suggests, pointing towards the door.
"It's not fun to go alone. Join me, Nik! It's the least you can do after sticking a dagger in my heart." Kol pouts, clearly trying to guilt trip his older brother.
Klaus sighs, closing his book and helping Zola off the couch. "Okay. Why not? I didn't have nearly enough to drink last night, what with you trying to murder Rebekah's date."
Klaus helps Zola into her coat and shoes. "Where is my other mate?"
"Somewhere in the house, why love?"
"I'm leaving Lili" Zola yells out, knowing her mate heard her. The hybrid and the two vampire groan at the scream.
"Really Zo?" Rebekah calls out, walking towards the couch in the room. Zola giggles, finished getting ready to leave.
"And Yes, please go, this house has enough men rolling around it in." Rebekah sneers at the two men in the room. Kol smirks "Just like you, Bekah"
Rebekah scoffs and throws her heel, barely missing Zola if Kol didn't push her out the room trying to escape his sister's wrath. Zola falls into Klaus who catches her, and glares at Kol.

Kol smiles, sheepishly at them.
Not knowing where to go, Zola suggests the Grill, and they agree happily, happy to get some drinks.
"Zola darling, enjoy a drink" Kol states, sliding a drink to a distracted Zola.
"I'm underage you dummy. You know that" Zola mutters, going back to staring at Alaric who is sitting across the restaurant from them. Klaus follows her stare and sighs, rubbing her thigh.
"He looks perfectly fine, I don't know what Damon was talking about" Klaus states, trying to make his mate feel better. She nods, and goes to turn back around when Kol points someone out. "I remember her from last night. A tasty blonde she is"
She sees Caroline, walking towards them.
"Zola"
"Caroline" Zola answers, confused. Caroline and her might have a good relationship but that doesn't mean they talked as if they are friends.
"How are you?" Caroline asks, ignoring the stares she is getting from the older vampires next to Zola.
"Fine. But umm if you excuse me, I'm busy Care" Zola goes to turn back around but Caroline stops her, grabbing her arm. Klaus snarls, glaring at her hand placement.
She gulps and lets go, clearing her throat "So Damon told us you got your surgery. I wanted to give this to you as congrats"
Caroline puts the jar on the bar, and walks away. Zola sighs and looks at the jar.
"They don't know that Elijah healed it already do they?" Kol asks
Zola shakes her head, grabs the jar, but promptly let it go, gasping. The jar hits the ground, breaking and making a mess. But she doesn't care much, grabbing her head.
"Zola love, let it in. You remember what Elijah said. You have to let it through" Klaus states, grabbing Zola into his arms, walking her out of the restaurant. Kol stayed behind, seeing that Klaus can clearly take care of his mate.
"It hurts" She whimpers in pain.
"I know. I know. But you have to relax"
Zola whimpers, and tries to relax, letting her mind be at ease. Finally feeling her body relax, she falls into Klaus's body, blacking out.
Zola gasp, opening her eyes to see pitch black.
She stands up, looking around. Nothing.
Just pitch black.
"Zola"
She turns around, hearing whispers call out her name. They become louder and louder. Hurting her ears, she places her hand on her ears, trying to block out the sound. But she feels the pressure intensifies, resulting into her ears bleeding.
Trying to stop the blood from continuing, she didn't noticed the people who stood behind her. "Zola"
She turns around once again but gasps, startled.
"We are sorry. We didn't mean to. She tricked us" All of these people standing in front of Zola, kneeling down in front of her. "Please forgive us. She tricked us. We didn't mean to"
"Who? Who tricked you?" Zola whispers out, confused.

They all point to the left of them, and Zola turns and looks to see Esther, in the middle of a circle with Finn.
"She is trying to kill them. All of them. But with that, she will kill you in doing so" The spirits state "Help them kill her"
"How? I'm just psychic"
"No, you are not just psychic" A voice states behind Zola. She turns to see a brown-skin woman.
She looks back to see that everyone disappeared, even Esther and Finn.
"Who are you?"
"Emily Bennet. I and the others that were here, are the ancestors that reside here in mystic falls. And you" Emily pauses, smirking "You are our mother, our protector"
"I... I don't understand" Zola stutters out but Emily shushes her, placing her hand on her shoulder.
"We will. You know how to reach out"
"Um no I don't"
Emily smiles "Yes you do" She places her fingers on Zola's temples "In here. But for now, you need to get back and help them."
Zola nods, looking towards the door behind Emily that just appeared. Feeling the pull, she starts to walk towards it. She goes to open it but Emily stops her.
"Zola, you can change them. They weren't always monsters"
Zola goes to question her but the door opens suddenly, making her fall through it.
She gasps, sitting up quickly.
"We have to stop her."
Klaus, Damon, Stefan look towards her. Elijah, who had picked her up from where Klaus had laid her down by the stairs, let her down from his arms after she signaled him that she was fine.
Zola looks towards Damon and Stefan. "She's planning to kill them isn't she?"
"How did you" Stefan goes to ask but Zola cuts him off " Did you know that she also planning to kill me with them?"
They shake their heads, looking confused.
"Tell me where she is or I'll have my sister kill Elena right now" Elijah threatens but Zola shakes her head, turning from them and walking up the stairs "I already know where she is"
"How" Damon asked, looking even more confused on what's happening.
Zola looks up the stairs to see Emily staring right at her, nodding.
"Let's stay, I have better help than she ever will" She goes to continue but pauses, letting her mates walk ahead of her with Kol. "Also tell my father when he wants to talk about the alter ego, let me know. I know a few who can help"
Making eye contact with Emily, who nodded, agreeing with her leader.
Damon scoffs and turns towards Stefan "What the hell just happened?"
The four of them walk up the hill to see Finn and Esther in a circle, protecting them..
"Stay beside me, mother." Finn states, trying to protect his mother but she stops him, nodding towards the fire "It's okay, they can't enter"
Kol goes to vamp-speed to them but the fires throws him back, not letting him enter. "That's lovely. We're stuck out here, while the favorite son plays sacrificial lamb. How pathetic you are, Finn"
"Be quiet, Kol. Your brother knows a virtue you cannot even imagine." Esther states, protecting her favorite son. Zola shakes her head from behind Klaus, who pushed her behind him, wanting to keep her safe.
While they talked, Emily appeared again but next to Zola this time
"What do we do? How am I supposed to stop her?" Zola whisper desperately, trying to save her mates and their family from dying.
"Take her magic away from her. It's the one thing she has that is keeping her alive"
Zola looks at Emily hesitantly, almost scared that what Emily is telling her is a lie.
"You can do this. Just feel it happen and it will happen, You are more powerful than you know"
She nods, and peeks over Klaus's shoulder. She glances back at Emily and she nods, getting her the confidence to do what needs to be done. Looking back at Esther, she relaxes, letting go of any tension, holding her hand out slightly at Esther.
"All of you. You're a curse on this Earth. Stretched out over generations. If you've come to plead for your life, I'm sorry, you've wasted your ti- Ah!" Esther screams out, holding her chest. Esther looks around in panic, not understanding what is happening. She locked eyes with Zola and gasped. "What are you?"
The Mikaelson men turned their attention towards Zola, gasping out in shock.
"You don't deserve to be here no longer" The spirits spoke, from behind Zola, though their words came out of Zola.
Zola smirks, feeling the power flowing through her.
She stops only once Finn snaps out of his shock and grabs Esther, running away to protect his mother.
"What the bloody hell?" Kol mutters, backing away a bit from Zola.
The spirit turned their attention towards the Mikaelson "You Mikaelson just became the world's most protected vampires. Be glad"
They suddenly leave, and Zola comes back to reality, her body starts to sway, not having the energy to keep her own self up.
Elijah speeds towards her, grabbing her waist for support.
"Wow, now that was something" Zola said, letting her head rest into Elijah's chest.
"My love, what was that?" Klaus questions, rubbing his hand on her back for comfort.
"Umm well" She pauses, looking up but Elijah and Klaus grunt, looking at her confused and shocked. "What now?"
"Your eyes Elskan, their different. It's almost yellow with some orange and red. But looking at them, it's very intense" Elijah explains, having to keep looking away to keep him from feeling so uncomfortable.
(What her eyes look like when doing magic)
Zola groans, rubbing her eyes.
She just became the most important person in the supernatural world. Who knows what the world has in store for her?

Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
