Fear consumes me as I stumble backwards while he continues to smirk at me before taking a step forward.
"What? No cute greetings like you always did for me back then when I was your boyfriend? Aw, but I miss them so much. They were so, fun to play around." He continues to give off his smirk.
As I stutter in my words, I don't need to talk back as a strong figure blocks my view from him.
"What are you doing here?" I hear Dyane ask, more of a growl.
"What? Is there something wrong with me seeing my ex-girlfriend?" My ex-boyfriend gives off his usual fake pout.
"Yes. There is, because of you." Lio growls hugging me as I grasp on his shirt shaking.
"Aw. That breaks my heart." My ex-boyfriend continues to fake pout.
"Like you have a heart." Liv snarls taking my other side.
"Calm down, you dogs. No need to over-react." The smirking boy states putting his hands up, "I just wanted to see how the naive girl is."
"She's not naive!" Dyane shouts ready to pounce at him but a body blocks him.
We find a boy with navy blue hair and grey eyes, his hair is tied back to a short ponytail despite the shortness of his hair since a few strands are still loose. He is taller than the boys by nearly a whole head as he is a giant to me despite his skinny figure.
"I'm sorry for his behavior, please don't cause an injuries on him. We need him." He apologizes with an emotionless face.
Dyane just narrow his eyes at the stranger, "Who the hell are you?"
"I have no reason to answer." He replies back, "It's not like you'll be introducing yourself to me."
"You - " Dyane growls.
"Guys. Stop." I command finally able to recover myself from the shock.
Pushing myself off of Lio, I take a step ahead from all my boys to stand in front of the stranger between my ex-boyfriend and I.
"Please move. I'll like to speak with him, and I won't injure him." I promise as his grey eyes stare down at me before obliging.
Now facing my ex-boyfriend who still has his usual smirk, I take a silent deep breathe.
"It's nice to see you again, Kein." I greet showing no fear on my face.
"Looks like you've grown up, huh, Octave? But you should know that you're still that naive girl." He tries to burst my bubble.
But instead, I just smirk, "That's right, I am still that naive girl."
I hear my name being call out from my boys behind me, even so I ignore that.
"But," I begin before leaning towards him to close the gap between us as my eyes glint with boldness, "it doesn't mean I haven't grown up. And just so you know, this naive girl, is so over you."

He is in shock for a minute of my sudden boldness before smirking again, "Are you sure you're over me? Weren't you just cowering in fear?"
"That may be true, not like I'm hiding it, but it doesn't mean that during that time I didn't grow." I give off a competitive smile.
"How can you change in such a small amount of time?" He laughs at me like a joke.
"Oh, but didn't you do the same?"
He stiffens signalling my win of when he suddenly changed on me when he finally finished with playing back then.
"Anyways, I'll see you around another time, Kein." I wave him off before walking away as my friends follow behind me, "Be sure not to be shocked the next time you see me."
When we arrive at a fair distance away from him, I take a deep breath before shouting happily while pumping my fist up. This causes the already shocked boys to be even more in surprise.
"I can't believe I actually went against him! It feels - it feels so great! Oh god! I wish I had done that before!" I continue to express how happy I am from my stunt.
The boys just look at me in shock before themselves and smiling.
"She'll never change, will she?" Kafe chuckles stuffing his hands into his pant's pockets.
"Never." The other four boys reply.
~~~~~
After saying farewell to all my best friends, I enter the hotel once again but it was 11 o'clock already. Everyone should be asleep by now, but suddenly when I am about to press the elevator button, arms wrap around my waist as I get lift into the air. A gasp escapes me as I find myself on someone's shoulder being carried.
"Put me down!" I demand hitting my fist on the person's back.
"Ow! Octave, can you please not hit that hard. It hurts!" I hear Derrick's voice respond.
"Derrick?" I call trying to look to the person who's carrying me.
"At your service." He replies getting me feel slightly in relief as it's not a complete stranger.
"What are you doing?! Let me down?!" I demand but he doesn't obey as he continues to carry me jogging down the place.
"No can do! Just wait and you'll know why." He chuckles getting me to groan at how I have to be in this uncomfortable position.
But in just a few seconds, we arrive at our destination. getting him to open the grand door which he enters inside before putting me down. When I get ready to lecture him, I stop as I find the display in front of me absolutely amazing.
The room is large and beautiful as a Christmas tree stands in the middle with couches surrounding it. There is a fireplace and many other Christmas decorations all around as my friends sit on the couches or on the floor.
"Octave, you're late!" Shiro jumps up from his seat.
"What's going on?" I ask in confusion as I get embrace into a hug by Shiro.
"It's Christmas, silly!" Rika giggles sitting withe girls.
That's right. It is Christmas. I
nearly forgot because of my meeting with him.
A smile rises from my face.
"I nearly forgot." I chuckle as I head over to the tree to sit somewhere nearby.
"Wait, does that mean you forgot our presents?!" George gasps getting me to roll my eyes.
"Nope, she didn't. In truth, she is the first one to get her gifts in." Mr Edison interrupts before smiling like a goof ball, "Now let's open our presents!"
As everyone begins to open their presents causing lots of commotion, I just smile at the warm atmosphere. Sitting down on the floor beside Hubert, he hands me one of my presents getting me to look at the tag to see it's from him.
"Open it." He smiles getting me to smile back and open it.
Inside is a beautiful white scarf which makes me gasp before touching it, instantly I love it.
"Thank you! I love it!" I squeal taking it out of the box as I continue to look at it in awe.
He smiles, "Glad that you do."
As we continue to exchange presents, I find myself receiving a lot as I protest at how much money they must have costed. But they all just shrug it off before forcing it on me.
I got the Rare Platinum Uggs from Sung Gun, Crystal Earrings from Arions, the cutest Stuff Reindeer from Shiro, a cat hoodie with the cat wearing sunglasses from Derrick, a cat toque with it's ears popping up from Jason, Beats Headphones from Maki, Skullhead Speakers from Lero, a dinosaur winter jacket with a tail from Owen, Kate Spade Purse from Rika, a Kate Spade Hair Band from Uni, a Pandora Bracelet from Violet, a cute phone case with a sea lion singing from Naya, Kate Spade Wallet from George, a monkey phone keychain from Ian and so many more which gets my head to spin at how much this must have all cost.
"Octave! Where's your presents for us?" Shiro whines as everyone look towards me.
I look away sweat-dropping as I did not want to get into trouble.
Mr Edison begins to laugh out loudly, "Oh, she did buy gifts for everyone. It's just that we couldn't fit it under the tree!"
"What do you mean?" Sung Gun asks hesitantly as I slowly move back away from the group.
"Haven't you wonder about those presents at the corner of the room?" Mr Edison nods over to the corner with hundreds of boxes.
"Decoration?" George guesses.
"Nope! It's your gifts from her!" Mr Edison continues to laugh.
All the heads turn towards me within that second pass.
"Octave!"
"Hey! It's Christmas! What do you expect of me!" I try to comeback.
This year might actually be the best Christmas.
~~~~~
My body falls down onto my bed as I relax feeling the comfortable mattress. Looking up to the ceiling, I smile remembering the lecture I had about the presents I bought for my friends. Thinking about that now, I remember the same situation happened with my junior high friends.
"Octave!"
"What?" I shout back.
"How much money did all these cost?!" the boys shout looking at the huge pile.
"Eh?" I shrug not wanting to answer.
"Why did you buy so much!" one of the boys ask.
"It's Christmas!" I comeback hoping to win.
Kein laughs before kissing my forehead, "My girlfriend is too much trouble for her own good."
"Hey! Like you can say anything!" I pout as he gives off a cute happy smile.
I wonder which side is his real self.
Sighing, I shuffle to move onto my side, but something pokes me at the waist. Frowning, I sit up before finding something in my pocket. Taking out a box, I look at it with confusion before opening it. There, five cute charms are in reveal as a note is on the side.
'Merry Christmas, Octave!'
Smiling, I already know the boys got it for me as I take the charms out before unwrapping one of the bracelets I have around my wrist. The boys always bought me a new charm every Christmas from each of them as they want me to continue wearing at least one female accessory. There was one bracelet from each group of friends I had in middle school, all with different charms. When I say the boys, I mean my old band mates and my old friends, who are not present right now and that also include Kein.
I
t was beautiful in honesty, having so many charms on the bracelet all different and unique.
Sitting up, I find a silver chain fall out of my pocket getting me to frown and pick it up from the ground. Gasping finding it a very familiar necklace, I look for the name and it's there.
'Kein'
Confusion hits me as I dig into my pocket to find a note. Opening it up, I read it with a fast beating heart.
'It belongs to you, keep it.'
My grasp tightens on the note as I feel my whole body stiffen.
What are you playing, Kein?

A Girl and Her Food
When a lost girl wakes up without a name, she quickly finds herself alone in a way that people around her can’t fix. Without a real plan and desperate to find what’s wrong with her, she thrashes and bites to stay alive. But human beings are weak things, that band together for strength, no matter who we are. Now if only she could work up the courage to ask one question... It’s normal to get stronger when you drink the blood of monsters. Right? Things to expect: - A powerful but kinda neurotic and emotional protagonist, with some degree of weak to strong. Or maybe strong to stronger, honestly. She's pretty rational and practical about things but won't always make the best decisions, so be warned if you super-dislike characters doing dumb stuff for emotional reasons sometimes. - Lots of dialogue and characterization, especially as we get more into it. It's focused on a single POV, but there might be some sections of other POVs later on, I'm not sure right now. - Magic is on the softer side, but I'll try to keep things fleshed out enough to avoid any obvious "well-established magic could have seemingly instantly solved this problem" moments. - I didn't add the mystery tag because I feel like it implies that this is a detective novel or something, but the story is absolutely incredibly opaque at times. So you'll have the most fun if you go into it trying to puzzle out the nature of events before they're explicitly explained!😇 - Also, I added the genre for completion, but it's gonna take a while to get to the romance. Please wait warmly and have some tea. Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge!
