《The Light Within the Sharingan》16

"Why would you say that?" I chuckled, my head facing down.
I looked up at Kakashi through my bangs, his face was enquiring, searching for any sort of give away in my appearance. I smiled sheepishly, trying to get around him.
"So where are you going?"
Every step I took he blocked, leaning down in my face.
"Home!" I yelped, diving through a gap between him legs. I felt a harsh grasp clamp around my ankle, pulling me upside down and hanging in mid-air. I was now face to face with Kakashi, his infamous crinkled, eye smile mocking me. My face was still burning, a mixture between what Sasuke had done and my darting around trying to get away from him and Kakashi.
"Is there something you're not telling me?" He questioned, his eyes boaring into my soul.
I wiggled out of his grasp, falling hard to the floor.
"NOPE. NOTHING UNUSUAL HERE! SEE YA LATER OTOU-SAN!" I shouted, running off towards the house.
HE KNOWS! HE KNOWS!
I raced towards the house, keys at the ready. I don't know why I was freaking out so much, I mean, it was only a kiss? Right? Nothing to be totally freaking out over. But it was Sasuke! Duck-butt! The damn Uchiha!
I dived towards the front door, throwing the key into the lock and turning it. I threw the door open and slammed it shut quickly, resting myself against it, sliding to the floor.
"Why so out of breath?"
My eyes shot open and I threw a kunai at the mysterious shadow lurking just at the bottom of the stairs.
Clink.
My kunai shot off in the opposite direction, deflected into the wall. The intruder walked into the light that shone through the front door, red eyes galred into my presence. The light only revealed a minimal amount of his features, long, dark, silky strands of hair fell into a loose pony tail that draped over his left shoulder, bright red eyes...
Sharingan.
I was dealing with an Uchiha, but it certainly wasn't Sasuke. This guy was way too tall and his scowl was a lot more fierce. He pulled his kunai back into his black cloak with red clouds on and pulled off his bamboo coolie hat.
"Mitsu Hatake?"
He was charming and well spoken. He held his hand out for me to take.

"Yes?" I said, taking his hand for support when getting up off the floor.
He smirked, taking his hand back and resting it in the opening of his cloak. He looked a lot like Sasuke up close, only he had stress lines on his face, making him look a lot older. His nails were painted purple with nail-polish which made me laugh a little, on the inside of course.
"Danger is coming."
My eyes widened.
"Excuse me?"
"My name is Itachi Uchiha," I froze.
Sasuke's brother...
"pardon my intrusion," he continued, "but you are in danger of becoming an Akatsuki target, especially since they've found out you bear Sharingan." Itachi finished, leaning against the stairs. All I could do was stare at him.
"But why would you come here to tell me that?" I asked, backing off a little.
He smiled.
"Because you are precious to Sasuke."
A cloud of smoke engulfed the room, choking me as it did. Itachi was gone but there was a note.
"If you have any sense you will leave this house. Go to the Uchiha compound and stay with Sasuke, the Akatuski know where you live. --- Itachi."
I was, needless to say, absolutely frozen with shock. An S-Rank Criminal had just been in my house, waiting for me, spoken to me, poofed away into thin air and left a note. Kakashi wasn't going to be home for a while because he'd got stuck on a mission, again.
I sighed, exhaling a long needed breath. Question is, do I tell Sasuke? Or do I just lie to him and say that I need some company? Do I stay here? Do I even listen to them?
I mean come on, he is a criminal after all...
I bit my lip with hesitation.
Running up the stairs I grabbed my bag and sprinted to my room. I grabbed clothes, stuffing them into the bag, not caring about creasing them. I made sure to pack night clothes this time too, along with some toiletries.
It was either stay here and sit around worrying, or tell Sasuke. It was as simple as that. If I sat around here, I risk myself getting ambushed by way more experienced ninja than I, or I go to Sasuke, be somewhat safe, if Itachi isn't lying to me, and also make sure he's okay.

I looked out of the window, the sun had set and the moon was shining brightly through the glass. I finished packing and made sure everything was locked, including the front door. I made my way to the back bedroom and slid through the window in there. The hatch on the window locked itself and I ran off into the night. The wind was strong, pushing me back a little. Controlling my chakra, I was able to manage my balance a little better, whilst running.
I rounded the corner to the Uchiha compound and pushed myself harder, running as fast as a hare, jumping over the wall. I knocked Sasuke's door briskly, pulling my bag closer to myself. I heard something fall inside and smash along with a frustrated groan.
The door opened.
Sasuke stood before me, rubbing his eyes.
Asleep already?
"Hey Sasuke, no time to explain out here," I mumbled, pushing my way past, "I have to stay the night, long story short."
He stood there as I passed him, letting his brain comprehend what just happened. I saw the remnants of a vase at the top of the hallway just outside Sasuke's room.
"Well don't just stand there Uchiha!" I hissed, "Shut the door and make sure everything is locked!"
Sasuke shook himself out of his daze and closed the door, locking it swiftly.
"Everything else is locked, do you really think I'd let myself have such a dobe mistake?"
I rolled my eyes and dragged him to his bedroom.
"Would you care to tell me what the hell is going on?"
I shut the door behind myself as Sasuke returned to the comfort of his bed.
"Sure why not, hm, how do I say this?"
Sasuke rolled his eyes at my sarcasm.
"Oh yeah. Itachi has visited me and warned that the Akatsuki are after me due to my Sharingan. He's even left a note."
I threw the note on the floor. I paced up and down the length of the room and ran my fingers through my bangs. Sasuke read the note over and over.
"That's Itachi's writing..." He mumbled, still staring at the paper.
I sighed. I shouldn't have been so blunt but what else was I to say?
"Sasuke, what I need to know now is that I'm not putting you in any danger," I started, walking to him, replacing the note with my own hands, "I need to know that you trust Itachi."
I looked at Sasuke, his eyes filled with curiosity and hatred. Of course he didn't trust Itachi, why would he? He murdered his whole family right before his eyes.
"I don't know." He said emotionless.
My eyes pleaded with his.
"He said to come here, he said you'd protect me."
Sasuke looked down at me, gripping my hands now. And he smiled.
"Of course I'm going to protect you. I just don't know if we can trust Itachi."
I smiled slightly.
"We'll stay here for now, but then we'll alert Tsunade-sama and the others." Sasuke said.
Sasuke patted the space next to him on the bed. I sat down, leaning my head on his shoulder. The only light was the glimmer of the moon that shone through the gap in the curtains, deflecting off of Sasuke's back. I felt his arm slither around my shoulders and squeeze comfortingly.
"I will never let anything happen to you." He whispered into my ear, letting his breath tickle the skin around it. Again, I involuntarily shuddered and pulled my arm around him for a hug.
"Thank you Sasuke." I said, looking up at him.
He smiled, closing his eyes. I took the opportunity, kissing him on his soft lips, causing him to jump in shock. I chuckled and jumped under the covers.
"And for the record," I laughed as I settled down, "I wouldn't let anything happen to you either."
To this, Sasuke scoffed jokingly.
"As if you could."
I laughed, hugging his back until we both fell deep into slumber.
