《The Light Within the Sharingan》11

We arrived at a traditional wooden house about a mile out from town.
"Home sweet home." Sasuke smirked.
He still lived in the Uchiha compound despite the tradegy that happened here. It was quiet, although there were a thousand trees around, no birds sang and no bushes rustled with life. The rain was hitting the wood hard, bouncing off visibly in the moonlight.
I watched as Sasuke pushed open the door and went inside. I followed, noticing I was just standing in the rain aimlessly. Upon entering, the warmth hit my face making it tingle with delight. We were both soaking, a small puddle formed beneath us as we both took off our shoes and walked further in.
Sasuke's house was simple, it wasn't small and it wasn't massive, the hall was long with doors either side, leading through to the living room and kitchen, and the stairs were directly in front as you entered the front door. The walls were decorated with the Uchiha clan symbol through the hallway.
Sasuke was stood by the door on the left.
"Are you going to stand there all night?" I asked, smirking in my direction.
Taken aback, I walked to him and we entered the living room.
Again it was simple, there was a fireplace which had an armchair and sofa nearby, a television not too far away and a book case filled literally to the brim with books. The walls were wine red which gave the room a warm feeling.
"Cold?" Sasuke questioned, lighting the fire without waiting for a response.
I took off my soaking wet jacket and laid it on the floor just outside the door, that way it wouldn't mess up the floor.
The fire blazed as we both sat in front of it, warming our numb skin from the rain. It was silent apart from the rain hitting the window with brute force and the crackling of the wood from the fire. We sat opposite from each other, just quiet.
I looked down and started playing with my fingers, it wasn't an awkward silence, it was nice. It was comfortable. I glanced at Sasuke who was now poking the wood in the fire with a metal poker. His face illuminated from the glare, making his eyes seem darker than usual, even showing bags on his flawless skin.
"Sasuke, are you okay?"

He jumped slightly at the sudden noise.
"Yeah, of course I am, why?" He glared as I burst out laughing at his reaction.
Clutching my sides I saw him eventually smile, and he pushed my shoulder.
"You're so annoying."
I was only ever annoying around him though, and I wasn't even annoying. Just comfortable.
I smiled.
"You look like you haven't been sleeping..." I said, barely audible above the harsh winds and rain outside.
Sasuke looked in my direction, but not at me. His gaze was fixated upon the door behind me.
"It's just I get lonely sometimes," he whispered.
My gaze softened, leaning over to him, I put my hand over his, urging him to carry on.
His eyes flicked to mine before closing.
"Living alone is hard. Especially when you know that your whole clan was murdered in and around your house. People tell me I should leave and live closer to town, more towards where you and Kakashi live, but then I think of it as running away. I don't want to run away from my past. I don't want to forget about my clan."
I found myself closer to Sasuke, my arms around his waist hugging him.
"People tell me everyday, "I know how you feel Sasuke." but they don't, they have no idea." He growled.
It's sad. I don't pity Sasuke like everybody else. I can understand.
"I understand..."
"No you don't."
I felt my body tense. He had no idea.
"Yes I do Sasuke, try listening to me for once." I sneered, looking up at him.
Sasuke's eyes widened with surprise.
"My family, just like your clan, were murdered. It's just me and Kakashi left. We lived in a little compound like this a little further from town, but rather than living with a clan, we lived with our closest friends. This is who Kakashi talks about when giving examples in training," I looked at the ground, "some were yes, killing in action in the Shinobi war, but some were brutally murdered by one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist."
I felt Sasuke's arm rest upon my shoulders.
"Ameyuri Ringo totally wiped out my closest friends and family, including my mother." I finished, my throat closing up as tears threatened to fall from my eyes.

The familiar silence fell again as we both just sat in front of the fire, thinking.
Sasuke's clan was murdered by his own brother, Itachi. Itachi was still alive and Sasuke would definitely seek out revenge, no matter what the cost.
Would I be as hell-bent on revenge is Ameyuri was still alive?
Sasuke cleared his throat, breaking the silence.
"I'm sorry, Mitsu. I had no idea..." I trailed off, looking into the flames.
I smiled, my eyes clearly sad. "It's okay Sasuke."
He fidgeted, somewhat awkward.
"The murderer, is she alive?"
I winced, it's as if he could read my mind.
"No, she died at a young age from a disease."
Sasuke nodded, understanding not to take the conversation any further.
I smiled at his consideration. Little gestures like that made me think Sasuke wasn't really a bad guy at all.
"Are you hungry?"
"I ate before you decided to break into my house." I grinned playfully as his lips pursed into a pout.
I laughed, poking him in the side.
I felt the warmth of his palm grabbing my hand and pulling me up.
"I'll show you where you're sleeping." He said, dragging me through the door and up the stairs.
The landing was papered with a cream colour, making it bright yet warm at the same time. There were photo framed hanging off the wall of Sasuke when he was younger with his parents. He continued to pull my hand me by the hand down the landing until we came to a dark, mahogany door. The door had a small silver Uchiha clan logo drilled into the wood. Etched into the middle of the symbol was "Sasuke" in kanji.
"That's cute." I smiled, pointing to the tiny sign.
I glimpsed at Sasuke as he rolled his eyes and turned the handle, revealing a dark, navy blue room with black and red accesories.
It contained a large single bed, a desk, another bookcase filled with books, a bedside table and a large window decorated with black curtains.
"Thanks Sasuke." I smiled, jumping onto the bed, messing up the covers.
His eyes filled with warmth, smiled back, even if his lips didn't.
He turned to leave, where was he going? This was his room after all...
"Erm, Sasuke, you don't have to go y'know?" I said, awkwardly twiddling my fingers.
He raised his eyebrow at me.
Don't even go there Uchiha.
He smirked.
"YOU KNOW I DON'T MEAN IT LIKE THAT!" I yelled, throwing anything within reach at him.
Dodging the incoming items, he dived towards me and pinned my arms above my head on the bed.
My cheeks burned.
His smirk deepened.
"W-w-what I mean i-i-is..." I stuttered, trying to make sense of the whole situation.
"I know what you mean, Mitsu." Sasuke chuckled, released his grip from my wrists.
What just happened?
Sasuke walked towards to en suite bathroom, stripping his shirt as he went.
"Do you need clothes?"
I just stared at him, horrified.
Laughing at me, he threw one of his shirts and a pair of his jogging bottoms at me, before entering the bathroom to change himself.
I stared down at the clothes, confused.
Why didn't I bring sleeping clothes? STUPID. STUPID. STUPID.
He came out, gesturing for me to go in.
I got up without a word, walked into the bathroom and shut the door. His bathroom was black and white, a shower in the corner and a sink with a mirror above it next to the toilet.
I stripped myself of my semi-dry clothes and pulled on Sasukes. They were large, obviously, but warm and soft to say the least. I pulled my hair into a ponytail and left the bathroom light on as I left. Sasuke was sat up in the bed, looking at me.
"Do you always leave the light on?"
I looked down, my cheeks slightly pink.
"Uh, yeah. I'm not a fan of the dark."
Sasuke nodded and lay down.
I pulled the covers up and jumped into bed, the mattress sinking beneath my weight. It's not the first time Sasuke and I have shared a bed so it wasn't so awkward. I inhaled the scent of the pillow and heavily exhaled. I felt Sasuke turn towards my body.
"You sigh a lot." He stated.
"I've never noticed." I mumbled, falling deeper into slumber.
Sasuke got the hint and didn't say anymore, instead he relaxed beside me, putting his arm around my waist and pulling me closer to him. I didn't object, he was warm and it was a cold night. It was nice to have somebody there.
I suppose you could say, I felt safe.
