《The Light Within the Sharingan》10

Night had fallen and Kakashi wasn't back. Assuming that his mission would carry through until the morning, I locked the door to our little house and went through to the kitchen to make myself something to eat. I hadn't been alone in such a long time, and something just didn't feel right. I grabbed some pots and pans from the cupboard and filled one with boiling water and rice, and another with some dango in.
My mind ran wild as I stood there making myself food, the weather was ludicrous. Rain slammed into the glass panes of the windows around the kitchen and living room. I could hear the faint drone of a voice from the television which was slightly comforting, but it didn't change the fact that with the horrific winds howling outside, accompanied by the rain pounding on every house surface, nobody would hear me if something happened.
What if somebody broke in?
What if somebody tried to kill me?!
WORST CASE SENARIO, WHAT IF SOMEBODY CAME IN, TRIED TO KILL ME AND JUST BEFORE I DIED, THEY ATE MY FOOD IN FRONT OF ME, TORTURING ME WITH EVERY MOUTHFUL OF WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN MY LAST MEAL?!
I gasped, practically dropping the dango as I prepared it on a plate ready for later. I plonked myself on the sofa, staring into the t.v, trying desperately not to think about how I would be murdered just before bed that night. Nothing on T.V was ever interesting, news, news, more news and news. Oh and weather, of course. Who doesn't have weather after the news?
Sighing, I flipped the switch on the remote to silence the T.V. I lay back, taking in all of the sounds around me. The rain thrashing against everything in it's way, the winds whistling through pipes, the sound of a thump as something hits the floor upstairs... Wait, what?
Eyes widening, I shot up the stairs, heart threatening to burst through my ribs and splatter all over the wall in front of me, still pulsing at it's ridiculously fast rate. I heard another crash, the bathroom?
Please don't let it be the bathroom! That is the most typical place for me to die in this oh so generic situation.

Pushing my hair out of my face for the one hundreth time today, I peered around the door frame. The window was wide open, my toiletries were all over the floor, Kakashi's scattered everywhere too. The shower curtain had been pulled down in an attempt to stop my intruder splattering their face into my tiled floor. Obviously, it didn't work.
A tall boy lay before me, raven black hair, an Uchiha symbol on his back.
How didn't I know?
"Sasuke." I said, tone flatter than his face was against the floor.
He pivoted his head towards me and blood gushed over the white tiles. His whole face was covered in blood, he smiled at me, his mouth all crooked.
I sighed, "you've gotta be kidding me." Pulling Sasuke up from the floor, I lay him gently against the wall, so he was sat up at least. I tilted his head backwards to stop the blood flow and cleaned up his face with some tissue and alcohol.
"What are you doing here?" I questioned, watching his eyes roll into the back of his head as I pinched the bridge of his nose.
"You know," Sasuke started, his voice a pitch higher from the pinch, "that really hurts. And your bathroom floor really hurts if you fall on it."
I closed my eyes, shaking my head. He was just as much of an idiot as Naruto.
After half an hour of sitting in front of Sasuke, pinching his nose, the blood finally stopped and I could help clean his face up a little better.
"You could've broken it, Sasuke." I stated, washing the blood soaked cloth in the sink.
"Whatever." He grunted, walking into my bedroom.
I swear...
I followed Sasuke after drying my hands with a towel, he was sat on my bed, head rested in his hands. He was wearing a black shirt rather than his usual navy, and he had grey sweats on rather than his usual white shorts.
"I thought you might want some company." He said, barely audible.
A blush started to creep it's way up my cheeks.

"Oh." Was the only thing I managed to croak out.
I walked over to him, pulling him up by his wrist. He flinched at the sudden contact but instantly relaxed.
"I made some rice and dango not so long ago," I smiled, looking at his pained face, "there's some left over."
We walked down the stairs in silence and I plated up some food for Sasuke.
"Do you want anything for your headache?" I questioned, looking at what Kakashi had left in the drug cupboard. He always had migraines so there was never any medicines here.
"Yes please." He said, not taking his eyes off of the window that was infront of him.
I nodded, balancing the plate of food in the palm of my one hand and grabbing some herbal medicine remedy from the cupboard. I threw the medicine in his lap and placed the food on the table in front of the sofa. Sitting next to him, I glanced over now again, stealing glances if you will. He looked awkward, very awkward.
"No need to be so awkward, Sasuke." I reassured, putting my hand on his shoulder, pulling him back into the sofa to relax. Eventually his body eased, and he began eating the food before him. The wind was the only thing that could be heard through-out the house. I thought about how the hell Sasuke could've got in, I mean, I didn't leave the window open and Kakashi never opened that one.
"Sasuke, how did you get in?" I turned my whole body towards him, legs crossed.
He looked up at me from the last piece of Dango he was about to devour.
"Heh." I smirked.
"Sasuke." I warned, I was not in the mood for his joking around.
He placed the plate back on the table, "fine, fine," he said, wiping his mouth in his shirt, "I picked the lock on the window, I knew you would've locked up by the time I got here s----"
"YOU DIDN'T THINK TO KNOCK THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON?" I yelled, smacking my hand to my forehead.
Sasuke laughed, not a chuckle, not a smug smirk but actually laughed! I smiled at the sound of it. It was nice to hear something other than the wind and my own thoughts. But I had a point, let's face it.
"Well," Sasuke smirked, "I didn't know if you'd be sleeping. I mean, you are like a baby."
My jaw practically hit the floor.
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DUCK-BUTT! BREAKING INTO MY HOUSE! SPILLING YOUR UNWORTHY BLOOD ALL OVER MY FLOOR! TO INSULT ME!
I snorted, he grimaced.
HA!
"You're such a pig." He chuckled, seeming to relax a little more. I put my finger to my nose, pushing it up like a piggy nose.
We both laughed. I've never seen Sasuke so at ease.
"I'm sorry for spilling blood everywhere." Sasuke said, sincerity pouring into his features.
I waved my hand in dismissal, "ne, don't worry about it. You meant well I guess." I smiled.
Sasuke turned to me, grabbing my hand.
"Stay at mine tonight."
Wait... WHAT?
My eyes widened and that familiar blush started to creep onto my face again.
"What if Kakashi comes back?" I said, not really knowing what to say.
Sasuke smirked again, "see, like a big baby."
I hit him in the chest, chuckling.
"It's just, I have to go home tonight, I forgot to lock up and everything," Sasuke explained, watching me carefully, "and I know for a fact you don't want to be on your own tonight."
Uchiha, being... Thoughtful? ....WHAT?!
I grinned, "okay! Let's go!" I said, jumping off of the sofa to make up a bag for the night.
Sasuke shook his head, waiting by the door.
"Don't forget to lock the bathroom window." He shouted up the stairs. I laughed, as I walked towards him.
"Way ahead of you, Uchiha." I winked, pulling him through the door and locking it behind me.

Many Minded
Synopsis: Issa Pyxis, Spacer orphan and illegal heretic, graduated from living on the streets to running with a gang years ago, but now it looks like that’s all going to change. Her inheritance, more specifically who—or what—she is, is catching up with her, and on a planet with the Emperor’s inquisitors slinking around in every shadow, nowhere is safe and no one can be trusted. What will she do? A cyberpunk story about identity, loneliness, covert infiltration, evil dystopias, and much more! Features: - Cyborgs and cyberpunk galore - This is indented to be somewhat “rational” and “hard” Sci-Fi story - Original Fiction however parts of my worldbuilding are inspired by other Sci-Fi stories (duh) Rationale: The future is cool, AIs are kickass, and questions about consciousness are simultaneously existential and yet unanswered. To me, this story is a vehicle for exploring these topics, and also, I wanted to write a story where the protagonist was unafraid of themselves and where their self is more like a git-repo than a meat computer. Disclaimer: This story primarily takes place in what we’d describe as a “cyberpunk dystopia” with some extra technocracy, autocracy, and religious fervor thrown into the mix, so there will be some “grittiness” in this story. Caveat emptor. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character and other characters in my story can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way they view the world isn’t always objective truth (if such a thing even exists) nor do their views and opinions necessarily reflect the views of me, the author.
