《Release Me》Chapter 34

My screams filled the air as gravity pulled me down. The wind ripped past me and my hair swings in different directions making me blind of my surroundings. My arms were in my front trying to grab air and my legs were kicking like I was underwater.
All in all, I looked like a mess.
My body hit cold water and sharp pain erupted around my body from the water piercing through my skin. Water went through my mouth and it burned my insides as I failed to breathe in air. My body was plunging deeper into the water and my body shut down from the trauma it went through. Then like an angel sent from heaven, someone dived into the water but I wasn't sure who. Their arms wrapped around me and pulled me towards the surface.
As soon as we reached the surface I gasped for air.
"I will try to remember for future references that you and water don't go well much together," said a familiar voice.
I look up and see a very handsome looking Asher looking at me. I was so close to his face that I could see a few faint freckles around his nose. His eyes bore into mine and his lips were so damn close to mine that I could almost kiss him.
Caleb cleared his throat making me jump slightly in Asher's arms.
"Are you two coming in anytime soon or what?" Leo called out.
Asher grumbled something and slowly swam over to the edge the pool. Huh, I never saw the pool.
He sat me down but his arms were still wrapped around my body. I sat upright and raked my hand through my hair to smoothen in back. Slowly I try to stand up on to my feet but I ended up slipping and falling to my right. Before I hit the water again Asher catches me and pulled me closer to his chest.
What the hell is going on?
Why is he so touchy all of a sudden?
"We should probably leave now. Black probably sent more people on the way," Raph said.

"So they were Black's men?" I ask.
"From they way they fought I would say they were," Caleb replied.
I nodded my head. "We can leave after I change into something."
"Okay, then you and Asher go change while the rest of us will be in the car," Raph said.
I walked behind Asher as we walked back into the hotel and in the elevator. Silence filled the elevator as it started going up.
"Thank you," I whispered.
"I didn't do it for you Cahill."
"Here we go again," I muttered. "Asher why can't you just accept me. I mean this is probably the fifth time I am asking you this. I know you have some kind of heart deep inside of all that coldness."
"I don't have a heart."
"Then why the damn hell did you save me!"
"Because it wasn't for you!"
"But you must have cared for the person you were doing it for!"
"I can't do this anymore," he muttered.
The elevator dinged open and he walked out but I grabbed his arm pulling him back.
"What the hell is your problem?! You do something nice, then you act all nice, and like a snap of a finger you're back to being a douche bag!"
"I have always been one! I am a cold man and someone like me does not deserve to be liked by anyone!"
"Bullshit! Yes you can be a jerk but you're still human Asher. You still need to feel love or let someone in so you could feel like your not falling apart."
He had this look in his eyes and I knew what it was because I had that look before. It was a look of pure defeat that you just wanted to give up.
"My father was killed by Black because he was scared he would rat him off to the authorities. I saw them kill them, Thea. They killed him right in front of me and I was only eight. I don't trust people Thea cause they will betray you and break you to pieces."

He called me Thea. For the first time since I met him, he actually called me by my first name.
"Not everyone is out there to destroy you, Asher," I whispered.
"Don't you get it, Thea I have big ugly scars that run just deeper than my father's death."
"Your scars make you who you are Asher. Without them, you wouldn't be you."
He looks up at me and stared into my green eyes. Asher walked in closer and closer until our lips were almost touching. His dark chocolate eyes land on my lips and I couldn't help close my eyes.
Then his lips were on mine.
His mouth moved against my lips and slowly I moved them too. His arms wrapped around my waist pulling me closer and my arms go around his neck and through his chestnut hair. The kiss deepened and I pulled apart or else I might faint from the lack of oxygen. Our foreheads touched together and I slowly registered what I had just done. Asher seemed to have understood too because he pulled away from me and took a big step back.
He raked his hand through his hair and I couldn't help it but want to have my hands through his hair again.
Thea get yourself together!!
"That was a mistake," he muttered.
I couldn't help but feel a bit sad from hearing his words.
"Um.... I am just gonna.... yeah." I said as I raced to my room.
I leaned against my door and slide down till I was sitting on the floor.
What have I done?
Why did he kiss me?
Dammit, this is why I don't do this kind of shit, it's just too damn confusing. Groaning I get up and go into my room. I stripped out of my clothes and wrap a towl over my naked body. As I was about to change into some clean clothes I head my name being yelled.
"Thea!"
Mike?
I walked out of my room and into the living room to find a worried looking Mike standing there.
"Oh thank God your alright!" He said running up to me. He wrapped his arms around me and hugged me.
Was the door open?
"We need to leave right now!"
"Wait what?!"
"You can change later. Come on!"
He grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards the door but I stopped him.
"Excuse me but I am not going to walk in public like this! What's the damn rush anyway?!" I yelled wrapping my towel more tight around myself.
"Thea please just listen-"
"Cahill you okay?" Asher asked as he barged into my hotel room.
His eyes landed on me then it zeroed in on Mike who was still pretty close to me with his arms wrapped around me. Plus all I had was a towel on.
Well isn't this so not awkward.
"Who is this?" Asher asked.
"Well, he's-"
"None of your business. If you came to clean the place up please do so. We are about to leave anyways... um who ever you are... so bye bye." He started yet again pulling me towards the door.
My mouth fell open.
What the hell?!
"Mike what hell is wrong with you?!"
"We need to talk."
"Well, we can talk after I put some damn clothes on!!"
"Ohhh... you feel uncomfortable..."
Yes, thank the Lord! I have some hope in humanity left.
"Hey, you get out!" Mike ordered Asher.
Yeah.........it's gone now.
Asher is full on glaring at Mike now. I didn't think he liked it when he called him out like that. If it was me he would have given me the whole respect speech.
"Mike you need to go too," I said.
"But why do I have to?"
I glared at him.
"Mike leave."
"Yeah, Mike leave," Asher repeated.
"You too Asher," I said as I pushed Mike towards the door.
He smirked at me and sat down in the couch. "Do I need to remind you that I own this hotel. I can kick you out if I wanted to."
I waved my hands in the air. "Fine stay!"
Marching into my bedroom I slammed the door shut.
What the hell just happened?!
And what the fuck is wrong with Mike?!
