《Release Me》Chapter 18

//EDITED//

Raph drives through the busy streets, honking at cars to move. He looks like a madman that is going to kill someone. He grips the wheel so tightly that it makes his knuckles turn white, and his eyes seem to penetrate through the front windshield.

Looks like someone is on their period.

"Can someone tell me why a fucking army after a kid like her?" Leo asks, pointing his finger at me. "I mean, look at her. She looks like a girl from a child's magazine."

Oh how much I wish I could just twist that little finger and hear the sound of it breaking.

"Hey Leo, you know I am trying to see things from your perspective, but it's not working cause I just can't get my head that far up in my ass," I say, smiling sweetly at him.

His jaw drops wide open and I hear Caleb whistle at my comeback.

"Dude, she just told you," Caleb says, laughing.

"Look, little girl, I would watch my mouth if I were you, 'cause right now your life is in our hands."

"Ohh, I am so scared. That's not my first time hearing it douche bag, got anything new for me?"

Before he can answer, the car turns to the right and my head hits the door frame. Caleb falls on top of me and it makes my body ache, as I feel blood trickling down my face. Next thing I know, my head hits the front seat when the car jerked forward.

"Jeez Raph, can you drive any safer?" Caleb asks sarcastically.

"Do you want to drive the goddamned car?!"

Caleb rolls his eyes.

"This is getting out of hand," Leo murmurs. He reaches into his pockets and pulls out a gun. My heart pounds, thinking he is about to kill me, but he rolls down the windows and leans half of his body out. Then he starts shooting at the tires of the cars behind us. Even though he has a horrible personality, he still looks pretty good as he fires his gun with that suit on. Such good looks to be wasted on an idiot.

Even though the car is moving left and right, Leo still has a firm grip and is firing like a pro.

A police car is driving straight towards us and two others are glued to our sides. Well, I guess, this is the end

But the car doesn't stop. We are still driving at high speed towards the car in front of us.

"Raph, what are you doing?" Leo speaks my thoughts as he pulls himself back in.

"Raph?" Leo asks.

My heart accelerates and a scream starts to form. My hand grips the seat as we hurtle towards death. Then I feel someone touch my hand. I look to my left and Caleb is smiling at me. He squeezes my hand in reassurance and I smile back.

I keep looking at him, not wanting to see the car crash into us, but I don't feel a collision. Instead, I feel the car lift up. Raph drives straight over the car in front, but unlike the movies, we don't have such a good landing. The car flips over to the right and my body slams down as Caleb flies over me. Sharp pains shoot through my body and tears blur my vision. Glass flies everywhere as the car tumbles off the road and into a parking lot. A buzzing sound rings in my ears and I can't hear anything else.

I wonder if this is how my parents felt.

Did they feel this much pain?

Were their deaths as slow as mine?

Are they with Jake now?

I want to be with them. I want to hear my mother's sweet voice and my father's funny stories. I miss them so much, and now I have lost Jake too. I have no one.

"Sweety you aren't alone," a familiar voice says.

I blink a few times and I see a woman standing a few feet in front of me. She is brighter than the sun and she has brown hair flowing behind her back. She looks like an angel and she reminds me of someone.

"Mom?" I ask.

"Sweety, you're not alone," She repeats again.

I stare at her with awe. Maybe I am going insane.

"Just remember that you're my daughter, Thea. You're my daughter and don't let anyone tell you different. Be brave, Thea and make me proud."

"Mom—please don't leave. Mom!"

She starts to vanish with that small sweet smile that I always loved.

My scream sounds around me as the light grows brighter and consumes me, swallowing me whole. I slowly shut my eyes and let the tears roll down my cheeks.

I hate feeling this pain, I don't want to be hurt, or get hurt again.

I want this pain to end.
