《The Gotham Ghost King》The Interrogation

Rex Angeli sat on his throne, stiff-backed and with his staff at his side, looking like the epitome of a king with his regal and condescending aura and his white and gold suit.
I looked at his eyes which were unusually colored, being a radiant amber, almost orange color. In his eyes, I noticed a tiny flicker of something protective. Very protective. His golden colored wings were loosely curled, but still looked ready to take flight if the meeting went south.
Ghost King. Even in the light, it was difficult to make out his form, almost being a shadow on a black throne encrusted with rubies.
A small ball of light hit him, which I jumped back from as it exploded against his chest. I heard a faint growl, "Oh stop it. Brighten up a bit," Rex said, briefly looking at Ghost with a completely done expression on his face.
I heard faint grumbling which stopped before small droplets of a pitch black substance began to drip off of him,
Drop by drop, he brightened considerably, color returning to him and his clothes. When the drops stopped, I could finally see the superhero clearly.
He was lounging in his throne, dressed in black and gold clothing and adorned with a wicked-looking black crown with rubies.
He had a bored look on his face, along with a sharp-looking sword on his hip. I looked into his stormy black eyes and saw a hint of malicious intent.
"Take a seat," he said with a snap.
I jumped back as the shadows pulled themselves off of the ground and solidified into three chairs.
Carefully, I sat down in the chair, watching the two beings with sharp eyes.
"What are you here for?" Bruce asked stoically.
"My partner and I have taken a special interest in Gotham, especially with the number of villains that Gotham has. Therefore, we have decided that it is in our best interest to temporarily assist in capturing the villains around these parts," Rex said, voice sounding calm, almost unnaturally calm.

"What are your powers?" I asked cautiously, leaning back in my chair.
"I do not believe you need to know that," Ghost interjected harshly, interrupting Rex, who had started to speak. "All you need to know is the fact that my abilities specialize in darkness, while my partner specializes in light."
"And how do we know that you don't mean any harm to us?" Jason snarled.
"We only mean to harm those who harm the innocent. Nothing more, nothing less," Rex Angeli spoke.
"What do you mean by saving our world?" I asked.
"My partner is just over dramatic. You may have one more question," Rex said, shooting Ghost a harsh look.
"Do you know of-" I zoned Bruce out, knowing what his question would be, and caring little for the answer.
"Who are they?" I wondered to myself. "What do they want with us? And why, out of all places, did they decide to show up here?

Resurgent [Hiatus]
Resurgent is the story of a man by the name of Marcus Diamandis and he begins his journey in an unexpected location, the skies. On the day of Armageddon, or later commonly referred to as Integration, Marcus begins his fall that hopefully preludes an eventual rise to greatness. Humanity has become stagnant in its ideals, no one quite knows what would happen if it were forced to change. Cataclysm now arrives in modern times, can we adapt, or will mankind fail its greatest test? ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Resurgent is a story that will include LitRPG and GameLit systems. Will not include any Harem elements whatsoever. This story is my first posted attempt at writing an episodic piece of literature and constructive criticism is always welcomed. The New World and The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound heavily inspired me so if you haven't read them please go give them a read!
