《Make Me Love Again (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES)》THE LAST DAY
Advertisement
"Tonight is the full moon. We should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse." Elijah says to everyone as I just stare off into the distance not really interested.
"Elena said that the Sun and the Moon curse is fake? That it's actually just a curse placed on Klaus." Stefan asks Elijah.
"Klaus is a vampire born of a werewolf bloodline. The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting. But if he breaks it...He'll be a true hybrid." He says in his British accent
I feel weird around Elijah, like I did around klaus, I would ask but then it would be nothing. Elijah introduced himself to me last night, and told me he wanted to talk to me later today. Damon enters the room with an annoyed expression on his face.
"Then why are we letting him break the curse? We can kill him today. With Bonnie." Said Damon as though it it is simple.
"Damon..." Stefan tells him sternly
"No. Bonnie can't use that much power without dying." Elena says, I am shook, I only thought she cared about herself. I guess you learn something every day.
"I'll write her a great eulogy." He tells Elena flippantly.
"It's not an option, Damon." She tells him with a slight whine.
"All right, how do we break this curse?" Stefan asks Elijah trying to stop Elena and Damon's bickering.
"Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward. The ingredients, so to speak, you already know." Elijah tell them as I stare into the distance, barely interested. I zone out until Elijah lightly taps my shoulder making sparks run up it.
I look over to him. "Please may I talk to you Miss Gilbert" he asks me politely.
"I told you to call me Aria and I'm not a Gilbert anymore, I am now a Summer's but ok." I tell him softly.
He gives me a small smile "Can I escort you outside Aria" he asks me holding out his hand.
I grab his hand and he leads me out to the garden. When we reach the bench we sit down.
"What would you like to talk about Elijah, if it is about the sacrifice it doesn't matter I cannot be used anyway or is it something else. Or is it because I was zoned out whilst you were talking I didn't mean to." I ramble out to him and an amused smile graces on his face.
"No it's not that Aria, I want to tell you a story. One thousand years ago, there was a family. The mother was a powerful witch and the father was a ruthless Viking. The Mother and Father had 7 children, 2 girls and five boys. The eldest was named Freya died of the plague when she was seven and only the two eldest had been born at that time. When the children grew up, the father became more ruthless and used to be violent towards the third eldest boy, no matter what he did was right in the fathers eyes. One night the boy took out the youngest son to see the men transform into wolves. The youngest did not survive and the night and came back dead. The mother in grief decided that she could not loose anymore children and decided to change them into vampires. The third eldest son was found out to be born of marriage and he transformed into a wolf. The mother bind his werewolf curse, until another doppelgänger appeared. Their father turned on him and they have been running ever since. However with eternity being a long time she gave each one of her children a soulmate, so they would always have something to look forward too." He tells me.

"Is that about your family." I ask him gently.
"It is." He replies.
"Have you found your soulmate then?" I ask him curiously.
"I have." he tells me with a smile.
"Who is it." I ask him.
"Well I did not expect her to be who she was, she has a smile that brightens up the room, and she zones out in important conversations." He tells me.
"Then you should be with her and not chatting to me" I tell him before standing up. He grabs my hand and places his lips mine.
After a few seconds, I snap back into reality and immediately push him away. "What are you doing, you have a soulmate for god's sake." I tell him angrily.
"You are my soulmate." He tells me with a amused smile. My face blushes red, so I walk back into the house entering the library.
"You'd think he'd understand why I'm willing to do this." Elena ignores me and tells Elijah. She touched a bottle and lifts it upright.
"I am really confused " I say under my breath, and Elijah comes and wraps his arms around me from behind. I turn round and hide my face in his suit.
"Why are you?" Elijah asks her disinterested.
"I'm the key to breaking the curse. Klaus is here because of me. If I don't stop him, then he's going to hurt people. It's that simple." She tells him. I am once again mind blown.
"You know, there's a possibility this elixir won't work. I don't want to mislead you." Elijah tells her formally.
"I know the chance I'm taking." She replies confidently. Their conversation get cut off by Jenna shouting at the door. I immediately get out of Elijah'a grip before running to go see Jenna.
"Get out!" She screams at Alaric.
"Jenna, Jenna!" He says taking a step away.
"Get out!" She tells him pointing the cross bow at him.
"Jenna, put the crossbow down, okay? It's me." Alaric tells her gently.
" Stay away from me." Jenna demands
"What's going on?" Elena said, slightly disinterested.
"It's me, Elena, I swear, okay? He let me go. Klaus let me go." Alaric tells her before looking to me. "Katherine, I thought you were with klaus" he says in shock.
"Prove it." Damon cuts in. Alaric then looks over to Jenna.
"Okay, uh, first night you and I spent together, Jeremy walked in right when I was about to..." he tells her slightly embarrassed that he had to admit it in-front of everyone.
"Okay, it's him. And this is my other niece Aria the nicer one." Jenna tells us, lowering the crossbow.
"Eww, Jenna with Jeremy in the house, does he need counselling? Gross." I cringe standing behind them. Jenna gives me a nervous smile before turning back round when Stefan talks.
"Why did he let you go?" Stefan asks Alaric.
"He wanted me to deliver a message. The sacrifice happens tonight." He tells us making the himself and the Salvatore brothers nervous.
Alaric, Jenna, Stefan and I were sitting in the lounge. I listened to them all interrogate Alaric.
"So you don't remember anything that happened?" Stefan asks him.
"No. It's like I blacked out and woke up three days later. Katherine was there." Alaric replies to his question.
"She's under compulsion. Damon snuck her some vervain, but she can't leave until Klaus tells her she can." Stefan informs him
"Where is Damon?" Elena asks no on in particular.

"I saw him go upstairs." Jenna tells her, hesitant to answer. Elena then leaves.
"So what else did I do?" Alaric questions Jenna and Stefan as I stare away thinking about Aria.
"no!" I hear elena scream from upstairs. However I don't pay much attention knowing my soulmate won't be hurt as she is at the grill. The only reason I am not harming Elena is for that she is the key to kill my brother nothing else.
I hear Damon come into the room I'm in, I stand up and place the elixir back in the wooden box before turning round to face him.
"Well, it sounds like you won't be needing this anymore. Feeding her vampire blood rendered it useless. Tell Elena I'll be back before nightfall. We'll proceed as planned." I tell him.
"We both know that elixir wouldn't have worked anyway." He says arrogantly.
"The problem, Damon: you talk a good game but you don't actually know anything. She'll never forgive you. And never for a vampire...It's a very long time." I tell him, he doesn't answer and leaves the house.
I see Damon arriving and follow him to the bar with Alaric. He orders the same.
"I'll have the same." Alaric tells the bartender as he gets Damon a drink.
"I screwed up." He tells us.
"Yeah. Yeah, you did." Alaric replies
"I don't get what you see in Elena ya'know? And I don't know why you let her come between you and Stefan, like I told you earlier she is just one girl. She leads you on Damon, I get your in love with her but you deserve so much more. You say that she is too good for you but I believe your to good for her. I get that you don't know me at all, but I know her Elena won't do you any good Damon." I rant to him.
"Yeah." He says in deep thought.
"Gentlemen? Love? Why so glum?" Someone says from behind us, we all turn round to look at him. He was hot, I just gawked at him. He catches me looking and a smile forms on his face, I quickly compose myself and look away.
"Ugh. Klaus, I presume." Damon says in disgust.
"In the flesh." He replies with a smirk before looking to Alaric.
"Thanks for the loaner, mate." Klaus tells him, Damon gets up and looks angry.
"Any reason you stopped by to say hi?" Damon asks him sarcastically.
"I'm told you and your brother fancy my doppelgänger. Just thought I'd remind you to not do anything you'll regret. I'm also here to make sure that Aria here is going to be ready to leave with me after the sacrifice." he says with a smile and my face is covered with confusion. A smile breaks onto Damon's face at the irony of the comment.
"Why do you need me?" I say quickly before Damon can get a word in.
"All will be revealed love." He replies to me with a cocky smirk.
"Ha. Thanks for the advice. I don't suppose I could talk you into a postponement, by any chance, huh?" Damon cut back in with and I literally face palm.
"You are kidding?" Klaus says in disbelief before turning to Alaric. "He is kidding, right?" Klaus re-asks Alaric the question.
"No, not really." Alaric tells him.
"I mean, come on, what's one month in the whole grand scheme of things?" Damon asks him, a hint of begging in his tone.
"Let me be clear...I have my vampire. I have my werewolf. I have everything I need. The ritual will happen tonight. So if you want to live to see tomorrow, don't screw it up. I will see you soon love, be ready to leave." Klaus says before leaving me clueless.
"That was fun." Says Damon sarcastically.
"You're going to screw it up, aren't you?" Alaric asks him. Damon looks over to him.
"You think if I took his werewolf out of the equation, she might...Get over the fact that I tried to turn her into a vampire?" Damon asks.
"I think it won't matter, because you'll be dead." Alaric tells him a hint of worry in his eye.
"But without the werewolf, he can't perform the ritual tonight, which means I would have bought her one month before the next full moon." Damon says figuring it out.
"And you'll still be dead." Alaric says simply.
"Are you gonna help me or what?" Damon asks him.
"Your being stupid Damon, she is not worth dying for Damon. Your gonna get hurt" I tell him sternly.
"She right you know. But, what do you want me to do?" Alaric tells him hesitantly and they both leave me. I sit there wondering if Damon will ever get out of the Elena's fake charm.
"Everything okay?" Katerina asks as I enter the apartment, whilst she I pouring coffee, immediately suspicious I go over to her.
"What have you been doing?" I ask her.
"Making coffee. Do you want some?" She asks me.
"Tell me what you've been doing." I compels her but I smell vervain so I know she is going to lie.
"Making coffee." She says and I release her, she holds her neck gasping and then turns around.
"Wait. Take off your bracelet." I compel her even though I can smell the vervain on her breath, she hesitantly hands it to me.
"Now, I want you...to walk over to the window and stand in the sunlight." I tell her simply.
"But I'll burn." Katerina says with fear painted on her face.
"You don't have a choice." I tell her. She stands in the sunlight and starts to burn. She keeps screaming. I look over to be with a smile making her burn for a little longer. The screaming now annoying I had finally had enough.
"That's enough." I say to her she immediately speeds away into the shade of the room.
"Guess I was wrong. All right, then. I need you to do something for me" I tell her smirking.
I enter the Alaric's apartment.
"Where's Maddox? He should be back by now." I question Katerina who is sitting at the table.
"I don't know." She says absentmindedly. I sit down and open up the laptop, I watch the live of Jules laying on the floor of a nearby cellar, chained against the wall.
"What are you doing? Where's Elena?" Katerina questioned.
"I sent her off with Greta." I tell her, looking at Jules who is beginning to transition.
" It's almost time." I tell Katerina excited, then the door opens behind me, Katerina and I look at the door to see who entered. Damon.
"I wasn't aware you'd been invited in." I tell Damon as he comes and stands behind me.
"I've come here to tell you that you have to postpone the ritual." He tells me repeating his statement from earlier.
"Didn't we already have this conversation?" I tell him as though he is stupid, already bored of the conversation.
"Yeah, but that was before I rescued your werewolf and vampire and killed your witch." Damon tells me and I stand up from my seat in the kitchen.
"Excuse me?" I say and I turn to face him.
"And you can kill me for it. I don't care. It was all...me." He tells me trying to be confident but failing miserably.
"Katerina, give us a moment." I tell her and she glances at Damon a flash of worry shoots through her eyes before she than leaves.
"I've heard about you. The crazy, impulsive vampire in love with his brother's girl. I knew one of you would try to stop me. It was a just a 50/50 guess on who." I tell him with a smirk, I then show him the video of Jules writhing around the floor in agony.
"The nice thing about werewolves is they tend to travel in packs. Need a closer look?" I tell him, throwing the phone at him so he can have a better look.
"Jules." Damon murmurs out.
"When you spend a thousand years trying to break a curse...You learn a thing or two. First rule...always have a backup. Backup werewolf. Backup witch." I tell him smugly.
"Backup vampire." Damon whispers in realisation.
"I've got that covered, too." I tell him with a sinister smirk, snapping his neck before leaving the apartment. "Time to break the curse and get my girl." I say closing the door.

This book is now available on Amazon! https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B09H5CQSX5 For legal reasons, I need to hide most of the content from Royal Road for now. The version for sale is revised and expanded anyway, including a rewritten opening. If the book does well, that's encouragement to write more of it soon! Reviews are welcome too. As noted in the afterward, it's been fun and useful to share this work with all of you here as I worked on it. Update 2022/2/22: Wow, it did do well! Thanks to all who read, commented, bought, and/or spread the word. Right now I'm working on a side-story about character Selen, and posting that starting yesterday. I do plan to do a true sequel this year, yet.
8 69The Way of Wrought Earth, or: My Tale of Rebirth as a Mostly Inanimate Rock
Mirage Winter. Second Clause, current act. A Relic Hunter's life is harsh — and often short — in the shattered lands of the Frontier. But when Whitelight reemerges, a legendary blade capable of separating anything the user wills it to cut, a newly formed unit organized of Hunter’s both young and old (and sediment based, in a particular case) vow to stop it from falling into cruel hands. Standing against them is the Frontier itself: the unbridled wrath of global federations, fellow Hunters, and those who lurk in the shadows of giants. As the world races to unravel a history desperately concealed, a semi-sapient rock soon realizes that some things are better off dead and buried — especially when those secrets carry an insidious corruption with no cure. Iteration: Mirror-glass Stars in Iron Oceans. First Clause. A soul wakes up as a rock, clinging to fragmented memories and knowledge of another era. What fate awaits such a creature? No, this isn't satire. Yes, I am dumb enough to try to take this seriously. Updates Wednesday, Friday with a variable amount of chapters. This story is not recommended for the easily disturbed. This is your only warning.

Eulisses Malinor is a prodigious and somewhat reclusive wizard with an unconventional outlook on life itself. The latter may or may not be related to him shedding the burdens of mortality some time ago. He claims that every wizard that takes pride in themself needs to reside in a tower in the middle of nowhere. It definitely has nothing to do with the Addia fanatics that continue to seek him out. Successfuly, much to his discontent. Ever out to ‘cleanse’ him, or bloody murder him if you'd ask the lich himself. But soon, that will no longer be a problem, as Eulisses has finally gathered every reagent - magical or otherwise he needs. He will tear open and stabilize a miniature Rift, essentially creating his very-own pocket realm in which even Addia’s gaze will no longer be able to reach him. Everything has been carefully planned out in advance, so there is no possibility of failure. You can maybe then imagine his bafflement, when instead of the nothingness of his successfully created pocket realm, Eulisses finds himself in a quite holy looking hall, amidst quite too-baffled looking fellows, in the centre of a gigantic summoning circle - allegedly, he cannot read the runes that make it up - and facing a young and quite fair maiden that stares at him quite wide-eyed.
