《Purest Black》9 - Swords, Swords, and More Swords (Yay!)

"Alright," Peter said, "let's meet back here in an hour."

"Yes sir," I said, faking a salute. We'd stopped at the next town, Endington, kinda a weird name, and we're planning on taking our time walking around. Instead of carrying all the weapons by myself, I'd managed to drag Zero along with me while the cart was left at the inn we planned on staying at, a good one that agreed to let Zero stay with me, in our room.

We trudged through town, avoiding terrified humans and scampering dogs. And then, there were cats. I, truly despise cats; I mean, come on, they have horrible personalities. Have you ever tried having a conversation with one? They just watch you these lifeless patronizing eyes, and then they walk away. I mean, come on, bitch move cats. I glared at every cat we passed.

We found a weapons shop at a small shady corner of the town, you know, the kind that you find in an alley and your parents tell you you'll probably get murdered there? Yeah, that kind. There were also some shady figures watching me from windows and cracks. The whole time, the thought passed through my mind, 'I can take them.'

One of them approached me.

"Little Miss," he said in an accent I couldn't pinpoint, "I think you're a little lost."

"Is this a weapons shop?" I asked, motioning to the building behind him.

He nodded.

"Well, I know exactly where I am, then. I'm at a black market weapons shop. Now, would you please move out of my way." It wasn't a question, I was telling him to move. He didn't seem to get it.

"What business do you have here?" He asked.

Meeting his glare, I called Zero over. He came, his fangs barred, ready to attack, though I waved him off. I unhitched the satchel that was tied across his back and took out the weapons. The man eyed them, but when he made a reach for one, I drew my sword. It maybe dull, but there's more than one way to use a sword. I could knock him out with the hilt, for instance. I could even choke him.

The man smirked at me and drew his own weapon.

"Stop that!" A voice yelled. I looked over to see an older man leaning though the door of the weapons shop.

The man who had challenged me, now wide-eyed, sheathed his sword.

"Forgive me," he said. I eyes the old man. Who the hell was this? Respect.

"Come in," the old man said. "And, forgive him, he means well, most of the time."

"But, sir!" The one who attacked me complained.

"I don't wanna hear it! Stop challenging all my customers!"

The old man took Zero and I inside. The shop was filled with all kinds of weapons, though I was drawn towards the Demon swords, the close combat ones.

"So," the man said, " what can I do for ya?"

"Well, first of all, I wanna sell these." I dropped the pile of weapons into a table in the center of the room.

He looked at the weapons, checking the blades, the hilts, even the guards. The bows, he showed less interest in.

"How much were ya lookin' for?"

"Enough for a new set of weapons. Mine's all dull and useless now."

"Hmm, I'll make you a deal. Since my friend out there nearly attacked you, I'll give you thirty gold for all these."

"Holy shit! Thirty gold? Isn't that a bit much?"

For those of you who don't know, thirty gold is about enough to buy a small house. In the capitals best district.

"Didn't you look at these? You've got some fine quality Angel's bows here."

Angel's bows? How could he tell? They looked like any old bows to me.

"Here, look at this." He took a small pocket knife out and cut the wood of one of the bows, nothing that couldn't be fixed. Sure enough, the inside of the bow had a single white core.

"Alright then," I said, slightly excited, yet devastated at the same time. I got those bows from Demon hunters, humans. That meant that there were humans walking around out there, carrying weapons deadly enough to slay dragons.

The old man handed me thirty gold pieces. I rained the shop, looking for any kind of weapons that would suit me. I found, two, technically three. First, a single Demon blade, a katana, and a set of daggers, just normal, murderous, daggers. The man charged me an agreeable price of ten gold, and we were on our way.

"We should head back," Zero said. "It's been about an hour." Nodding, I jumped on Zero's back as we returned to the inn where the others were waiting.

"Took you long enough," Peter said.

"We were thinking of sending out a search party," Luke said, jokingly. "Did you find what you were looking for?"

"Yep," I said, smiling. "I'll show you in our room. I don't wanna attract a crowd."

Our room was on the second floor, we had to pass through a crowd of drunks and whores to get anywhere near the stairs. But, here we go.

I pushed passed drunk after drunk, a few of them reached for my ass, but Peter flicked their hands away.

"Hey there," I heard a voice say from behind me. I turned around to see a girl pushing herself up against Peter, who looked increasingly uncomfortable. Peter gave me a pleading look and I went back for him. Something about this just pisses me off.

I took his hand, looked at the girl, and said, "Back off, bitch."

She looked at me. Apparently, this was the first time anyone called her that. She watched, her jaw dropped as I walked away, Peter in tow. Somehow, the others had managed to get to the top of the stairs, even Zero, and we're waiting for us there.

"Thanks," Peter said to me.

"Eh, bitch needs to know her place. Besides, you helped me first."

The room we rented was the biggest one the inn had; five twin beds, just enough for all of us. I took out the weapons, let them have a quick glance, and sheathed them again. Better save these babies for a good fight. I could feel the snake like smile forming on my lips.

Zero and I shared a bed, one by the window. Jessica's was besides mine. One the other side of the room, Luke, Peter, and James all slept in their own beds.

"Akira," James said from the other side of the room.

"Yeah, yeah." I knew exactly what he wanted. Where do I start now? "Okay, so one day, in Hell, Terra was running around the castle, pissed off at who knows what. This was after the marriage so, Michael was there too. She was smashing everything in sight, full out rage. Michael tried to contain her, in the end, he actually tied her up and hung her in the dungeon. When they got a doctor in to see her, they confirmed that she was pregnant.

"See, Demons already have a generally short temper so when they're pregnant, it's twenty times worse. Michael wouldn't let anyone in to see her, he was afraid she'd end up slaughtering them. And then he'd probably loose his temper when someone got mad at her and kill them. It's the overprotective in the supernatural species.

"After he calmed her down, Michael carried her back to their room and she didn't come out for about eight and a half more months. In that whole time, Michael took care of her. Every once and a while, he'd come out bloody and bruised.

"Finally, the baby was born, the first princess and the first hybrid. A girl with leathery white bat wings and horns. Her hair and skin was snow white. The end, goodnight."

I quickly turned over, crushing my fave into Zero's fur. I felt my eyes burn as I tried to hold back inevitable tears. Like I said, the were inevitable.
