《Purest Black》7 - Angels Aren't the Only Problem

The Angels went ballistic when we told them that we killed their leader. Some of them attacked, some of them fled, and some of them decided to stay with the humans, with kinder intentions such as; not creating a dictatorship over them and so on.
We handed the mansion, and the city, over to the little girl who, in turn, chose and Angel to lead BESIDES her until she was the right age. But, that didn't mean I didn't give the girl a little advice on how to kill Angels.
I bent down and whispered into her ear, "Just throw a little bit of demon blood at them. They hate that. If you ever have Demon problems, just throw some Angel blood at them. They say it smells repulsive."
She giggled and hugged me, again. "Thank you," she said into my ear.
Smiling, I hugged her back, a custom I'd probably have to get used to. And, with that, we left the town.
"That's a lot of money," I said, eyeing the bad that Luke held in his hand. I never said we left empty handed. Actually, they paid is quite handsomely for our...services.
"Don't even think about it," he said, moving his hand, and the bag, back a bit.
I put my hands up in surrender. "I would never."
"I could see you stealing," James said.
The others laughed at him, I did nothing but scowl. I heard Zero, from the front, mention something about a few times that I might have...borrowed and never returned something.
"So," I started, "where to next?"
"Haven't you figured it out?" Peter asked. "We just go wherever." I'm glad he wasn't mopey and brooding, like he was in the last town. I don't know what I would've done if I had to deal with that for the next few days.

"Hmmm," I whined. "Where's the fun in that?"
"So fighting Angels and Demons while traveling the world isn't enough for you? What was your like life before us?"
I didn't answer that.
"If your so bored," Peter said, "why don't you start telling us more about Angels and Demons?"
"I guess, where should I start?"
"When Terra and Michael decided to get married!" Jessica said. We all looked at her. "What? I'm a girl, I'm allowed to like romance. It was romantic, right? They married out of love, right?" Her eyes sparkled with excitement. Not only her, though, everyone watched me, waiting for the story.
Luke spoke up, "It was probably an arranged marriage, right? One of those things nobles do to make peace. They probably hated each other."
"No, they really did love each other." I'd asked Mama for this story so many times that I could recite it by heart. "Terra and Michael met durning a war, actually. Each of them held a sword in their hand, watching the other so closely that you would've thought they were talking to each other through their minds or somethin. Then, they just walked away, not even raising their sword at the other.
"The next time they met was, again at a battle field. But, this time, they spoke to each other. They didn't speak of pain or death, not about ending the war, not about their hatred for each other. They just...talked. Like it was the most normal thing in the world. This time, right before they left, each of them had a little smile on their face. Or at least, that's what soldiers say.
"Again and again, they met, staying longer each time, until Michael came to Hell. The guards captured him and beat him, but he didn't resist, he just kept saying, 'Let me see your Queen.' When Terra had heard word of this, she burst into the prison to find Michael hanging from the ceiling, his back torn open, and a whip in one of the guards hands. That guard was banished to Earth, a horrible punishment for a Demon or an Angel, at the time.

"Anyway, Terra quickly untied Michael and he fell into her arms, smiling like an idiot." At least, that's what Mama said. "Terra took him back into the palace and cared for him herself for the next day. After that, she sent him back to Heaven where he told the other Angels that he was on a personal mission.
"The next time they met, Terra snuck into Heaven. She caused a hell of an uproar because no one could catch her. She snuck around the palace until she finally found Michael, sitting in his room, waiting for her. And, again, they just talked. After a while, Terra left and went back to Hell.
"The little wars happened less and less until the King and Queen finally pronounced their love for each other. The kingdoms were in an uproar, and rebellions broke out. Each were stopped by the King and Queen themselves. After a while, even the rebellions died down. That was when the marriage happened. Down on one knee, Michael asked Terra for her hand in marriage. She jumped at him, wrapping her arms around his neck, whispering yes into his ear over and over again. The guards, at the time, said she had tears streaming down her face.
I stopped, taking a breath and waiting for one of them to comment.
"And?" Jessica asked, watching intently.
"And what? That's it. They fell in love, got married, had kids, and died protecting them. That's it."
"I know, we were just expecting...more." James said.
"What more could you wan-"
The cart came to a sudden stop and I was slammed into Peter's chest. Is anyone else noticing a pattern here? It's not just me, right?
"What happened?" Peter asked, moving me away.
"You guys should come see this," Zero said.
We all got out and what we saw was gruesome.
Cliffhanger!
