《Scarlet Wolf》23- A Lead

Kahlin Jones. Tony Mong. Peter Young. Wayne Fen. The four names. I had researched Three of them, but to no avail. I sighed as I typed in my last hope. Just and, my phone buzzed. I picked it up immediately, and opened the message. It was from the same number as yesterday. It was another picture of Isa. She was again, bound, but also this time gagged. She didn't look worse than yesterday, except that I was pretty sure there were tear stains on her face. Next to her was today's paper. I clenched my fist, growling in anger. How dare they make my Isa cry! I exited out of the message, and returned to my laptop, now more determined than ever to find Isa's kidnappers.

With the name Wayne Fen, I was able to find another name. Or, part of a name. O. MacQuoid. I grinned, happy that I was getting somewhere. I typed O. MacQuoid into the people finder website. One hit, in New York City. (A/N- in the greatest city in the world! Hamilton reference for uncultured swines. JK.)

Now I was getting somewhere. I clicked the contact, which brought me to a webpage of basic information. Age- 38, phone number 876-014-9165. I checked my messages. The phone numbers matched!

"Yes!" I yelled, excited to be getting somewhere. Ced came into my room, hearing the yell.

"What is it?" He asked. "Do you have a lead?"

I nod. "Sorta. I have a name. O. MacQuoid. Ced's eyes widen. "What?! Do you recognize the name?" I ask.

"Yes. If I remember correctly, MacQuoid was the name of a former fighter. Before I met you, he quit the competitions. He was champion the year before I found you, but I wouldn't forget the name. Oscar MacQuoid. I think he was in a gang, and did the competition to let off steam," Ced explained.

"I can work with this," I said, going back to my computer. Ced watched over my shoulder. A few minutes later, I found what I was looking for. An address. The address was a few blocks away from the address Sage had found earlier.

Ced was the first of the two of us to speak. "I'll check out the warehouse."

"I'll come too," I said,getting up.

Ced shook his head. "No, you're not. I'm going alone because if it is where they're holding Isa, there will certainly be guards waiting for you. But they won't expect me, so I won't be as at risk to get captured, unlike you."

"I don't care," I protested. "I can stand my ground, probably better than you can."

Ced sat me back down on my bed, before plopping down next to me. "Listen," he said. "I'm only going to scope out the place. I am at less of a risk than you, and nothing will happen to me if I do end up getting captured. You, on the other hand, are who Isa's kidnappers want. Therefore, you are more valuable, so I'm going alone. You can't stop me, and if you try, I'll just go out while you're sleeping, and lock you in."

"That won't hold me," I say.

"I know, but I'm going alone whether you like it or not. It's just too dangerous for you to go. If you do get captured, What'll happen to Isa? They'll most likely kill her, so stay here, for the sake of Isa."

I sigh, knowing he's right. "Fine," I mutter. "I'll stay here,"

"I'll be back soon, Tala," Ced says, before walking out of my room, and a few minutes later, out of his apartment. I growl, so frustrated and angry at being kept here, even if Ced was right. Which he was. If I got captured, the kidnappers would have no use for Isa, and I couldn't risk letting her die. I couldn't lose her. We'll find a way, I think to myself, willing it to be true.
