《Scarlet Wolf》19- Confessions

We were back home, Isa laughing at something in her book.
"What's so funny?" I asked, because she was actually crying she was laughing so hard.
"Instead of focusing on saving the world, the main character is trying to decide which boy to choose from. As if in a life threatening situation, the most important thing would be romance," she says. "It's laughable, really."
"So you don't like romance?" I question.
"No, I do. It's just the time is not right at all. Plus, the idea of having two people madly in love with someone is funny when no one has ever liked me."
"Are you sure about that?" I say, trying to throw out hints. "Someone must have liked you or does now."
Isa shakes her head. "No, even the girl I got caught kissing didn't actually like me. She was just experimenting."
"But someone has to have liked you. You're too sweet not to," I protest.
She just shakes her head stubbornly. I sigh. "Why do you think you're so unlikable?"
Isa shrugs. "I don't know, I just do. I'm nothing special. Just average. Why would anyone go for me when there are prettier, more outspoken, girls? I can't hold up against that!" She says, her voice raised.
"Well you can!" I say, voice louder than intended.
"No. No I can't." This is mumbles, Isa looking close to tears. I had never seen this side of her, insecure and unsure.
"Yes you can! I like you just the way you are!" I shout, before realizing what I said. Oh. I didn't mean for that to come out, but here it is.
I blush a little, and look down. When I look up again, Isa is staring at me, face red. "You... you like me? As in- as in romantically?" She stutters.

"Yes," I say, a little breathless. "Yes. I've liked you from the first time we met. Your quiet sense of humor, your love of books, the way you dance around the kitchen, how you can get so excited about things, the way your eyes sparkle when you're happy, how you unconsciously play with your hair when you're nervous. All of it. I like all of you," I confess, blushing slightly. I wasn't used to confessions of lo-like. Confessions of like.
"I like- I like you too," Isa almost whispers. "You're always there for me. Helping me when I have a nightmare, comforting me when I'm as, even when you were training me yesterday."
I can feel a smile forming. Isa liked me back! For a second I forgot about my job, forgot about caution, forgot about everything but Isa. I scooter closer to her in the bed, cupping a hand on her cheek. "Can I kiss you?" I breathed.
Isa nods, and I lean in. The kiss is gentle at first. Her lips meet mine, and I immediately think about how soft they are. She melts into me, throwing her arms around my neck. I press into her a little more, my other arm going around her waist to pull her closer.
After a few seconds, we both pull back for her. Isa is blushing hard, but I don't care. As far as kisses go, that was a good one. A very good one.
We stare at each other for a minute, before I break the silence. "So, Isa Delinda. Will you do me the honor of being my amazingly cute girlfriend?" I ask, hoping and praying-though not actually, I'm not religious- that she says yes.
"Of course I will, Tala Morana," she says almost immediately, before pulling me in for another kiss, this one just as sweet as before.

We pull apart, and Isa hugs me. "I'm so glad you feel the same way," she mumbles against my shirt. I smile. "Me too, Isa."
We both sit up a little, and Isa curls into my side. I put my arm around her as she grabs her book. She goes back to reading, while I go back to reading an Agatha Christie novel on my phone.
After about an hour, Isa starts to yawn. I look down at her, to see her eyes starting to droop. "Hey," I say quietly. "You look pretty tired. Wanna go to bed?"
"Sure," Isa replies, sitting up a little. "Can- can I sleep in your bed with you?" She asks hesitantly, looking away, and blushing slightly.
"Of course," I say, smiling slightly. She's just so adorable! "You never have to ask."
We both go our separate ways to change and brush our teeth, before climbing in bed together. Isa cuddles into my side, my arm going around her.
I lean over and press a kiss into her forehead. "Goodnight, Isa."
"Goodnight, Tala," she says back, curling into me more. I close my eyes and fall asleep quickly, happier than I have been in a long time.

A/N- Omg I'm fangirling they had their first kiss! Isa and Tala are so adorable I just can't! Also, even though they confessed their feelings, I'm not done with this yet. I've got plans. Maybe a bit evil- but only slightly!
