《Scarlet Wolf》15- Client

It was midnight. I left another note for Isa, this one telling her not to worry about me, that I was just going out to get more clients. I didn't want her to come because it was too dangerous, and I knew she would argue if I didn't leave without her.

I walk to my normal alleyway, knowing that clients usually wait for me there. I smirk to myself. From the way I'm thinking about it, I could be a prostitute. I snort. That is quite a different job. Both very illegal, but very different nonetheless.

As I suspected, there was a woman standing in the darkness, taller than me, with bright blue hair. I clear my throat and she turns around.

"Scarlet Wolf?" She asked in a hushed voice.

"At your service," I reply, a smirk on my face. I was wearing the mask coed had gotten me, when I first started taking jobs. It was black, like the rest of my outfit, and covered my eyes, not unlike a superhero's mask would. That way no one would see my whole face. I had of course, forgotten to wear it the night Isa saw me.

"I'm Lola Williams. I heard you're an assassin?" She says, holding out a hand as if to offer a handshake, before thinking better of it.

"It is. What's the job?" I answer, slightly amused at her politeness. It was better than most of the other clients I dealt with.

She swallows, visibly, as if she's scared. "I used to date this guy, Tim Starr. I broke up with him months ago, but he's still in my neighborhood. Recently he's been creepy, showing up at my house to proclaim his love and stuff like that. Each time, I've rejected him, but he doesn't seem to take a hint. It's gotten so I don't feel safe."

I nod. "Okay, I can work with this. I promise, you'll be safe. If you want, I can find someone to guard you until I get the job done.

Lola shakes her head. "Thank you, but I'll be fine. Its not just me though, and some of the other so,en say he's gotten aggressive. Do I need to pay you, or anything?"

"Yes," I answer. "Usually clients lay me after the job. I'll get it done by tomorrow, and contact you after that."

She hands me a piece of paper. "This is my phone number. Text or call and I'll pay. How much?"

"$10,00."

"I can do that," Lola says.

"Okay. I'll contact you when it's done."

"Thank you so much," she says again, before walking away.

I walk home, and open my door. Once again, Isa was up, but this time she wasn't angry.

"Did you get a client?" She asks.

I nod. "Yes. Why're you up?"

"Just needed water. Hey, I have something I want to talk to you about."

I sit down on the bed next to her. "What is it?"

"Well... I uh, I wanted to ask you, ask you if I could, maybe help you?" She asks nervously.

"Help me with what?" I say, confused.

"Umm, your job. You know, being an assassin."

Wow. That was surprising. "You do realize it's incredibly dangerous? Why do you want to?" I say.

"I know it'll be dangerous. And I'm not, not really sure why I want to, but, but I want to help you, and I, I'm tired of being weak. I want to do something that'll last, plus, from what I've seen of what you do, you only kill people who've done horrible things," Isa exclaims.

I smile in spite of myself. "That's very noble. Are you sure you want to do this, though?"

"Yes, I'm sure. Please, Tala?"

"If you're really sure about this, I'll help you become an assassin, like me. Do you work tomorrow?"

Isa shakes her head. "Okay, then we'll start training tomorrow. Now, we should both get some sleep, Shadow."

I get up, and see Isa smile at her name. "Goodnight, Tala."

"Night, Isa."
