《Scarlet Wolf》Prologue- For A Price

"I heard they call you the Scarlet Wolf," the dark figure hidden in the shadows of the alleyway says. It's true though. That's what people call me. I've adopted that name, since it makes it harder for people to catch me, if they don't know me.

"What they call me doesn't matter. Since you've been following me for the past five blocks, I can assume you want something. What is it?"

The man hidden in the shadows lets out a gasp, probably because he wasn't expecting me to realize I was being followed. He wasn't very subtle about it, and I've had years of practice evading people.

The shadowed man regained his composure. "They say you'll take any job, no matter how hard it is." A statement, not a question, though there is one lingering behind it.

"I will. For a price."

"Name your price."

"Name your job first."

"I thought you took all jobs," the man says sounding confused.

I roll my eyes. "I do, but different jobs have different prices."

The man steps out of the shadows a bit. His head is covered by a hood, but I can see the hint of a beard from under it. He pulls out two pictures and hands them to me. I grab the pictures, studying them. "These are your targets. James Ashwood and Garret Hillford. They double crossed me and some... associates of mine-" I interrupt him here. "You mean he double crossed your gang. I'm not new at this job. I've gotten involved in a lot more than gang wars. I'm not going to snitch to the police, so please, continue, and be as accurate as you can, considering that I'm going to need all the information I can get to do your job."

"Okay. So these guys double crossed my gang, stole a bunch of our drugs, and gave away our location to our rival gang," the man continues. I nod. I can work with this.

"Well if that's all, then your job will be done by Thursday. Now, about the price. For two targets, it'll be $50,00, since you're talking to the best. I also have a question."

The man nods. "I can do 50 grand. What do you want to know?"

I smirk. "How good is your informant?"

"She's one of the best I've ever had, and I've been in the business for a long time, girlie."

I cringe at the nickname, but keep going anyway. "Good. After I finish your job, I'll be contacting you for the details of your informant. And another thing, don't call me fucking girlie."

He nods, probably scared of the dangerous tone my voice has taken. "Unless you have any other targets for me, I'll contact you after your targets have been killed. Goodnight, Ramon Mathews," I say as I walk into the shadows, on my way to gather information for a fairly easy job.

A/N- for all those who have read any of my other stories, they are on hold because I have no idea where any of them are going. This one, however, I have big plans for. Since it's now summer, I can update every other day, so that'll be my update schedule. Thanks for reading, and peace out!
